    I went to Provence in Sept 2021 and this video definitely helped me to plan my itinerary. I rented a car in Avignon and drove out to visit many of these towns. My favorites were Isle La Sorgue and Menton - just past Nice on the French Riviera.

      @@lemonsandlavender Michael, it was extremely uncrowded in Oct 2021 (due to the shadow of covid no doubt) but that added to the charm. By far the best surprise was Menton - I spent a whole day on that same pretty little beach you were standing on. In restaurants and around town you could hear as much Italian spoken as French.

It's much easier to navigate France if fully vaccinated; & they just recently passed that law "Passe Sanitaire" where as A foreigner, you'll need to carry your vaccine card with You b'coz Restaurants, museums & all tourist spots will ask for it before letting you in 0R your gonna need multiple PCR Covid -19 tests to get around & explore France!!! I prefer a town of 5k to 20k people. Therefore, I like I'isle sure la sorgue. Gordes and Bonniux, although amazing are too small. In my opinion, Aix and Avignon are too big. Not too much to see in Avignon anyway. See my L'isle sur la Sorgue video.

    Just FYI @3.53 we could observe a terrace overlooking the valley in Lacoste.At this precise location Henry Miller wrote an entire book in one afternoon!. Quiet days in Clichy was the title. Your selection is good,but there's a difference between Provence and Cote d'azur. Provence being l'arrière-pays and la Côte d'azur the French riviera. My favorite village provençal is Moustier Ste-Marie .

    • @doume8325
      @doume8325 3 года назад +1

      Menton n'est peut etre pas la Provence mais la cote d'azur ou french riviera sont des appellations touristiques sans réalité culturelles ou historiques.La Provence s'étend historiquement et culturellement jusqu'à saint laurent du var dans la banlieue de Nice , incluant donc 90 % du littoral de la région Paca. Donc non il n'y a de différences entre provence et cote d'azur (qui s'étend de hyeres dans le var à Nice qui pour le coup n'est pas vraiment une ville provencale) ou encore french riviera. Il n' y a que les touristes qui font cette différence.

      Have you considered they're touristy because they are some of the most beautiful villages in Provence? I fully admit there are some villages that may have some more natural beauty (Crestet just up the road from Vaison has incredible views), but one of the reasons people love towns like Vaison, Roussillon, and L'Isle sur la Sorgue is that they have all of the amenities and you can spend a weekend there walking around and not having to get it your car. I have 30 restaurants, 6 groceries, 6 bakeries, 4 wine shops, a hospital and a dozen sites of interest all within a 15 minute walk from my front door...not to mention one of the biggest weekly markets in the area.
