I'm pretty much at the 3 year mark, been using the same products for years (and my hair's doing great) but I recently got the urge to try a bunch of new stuff...this video saved me! Thanks Toya
+Samantha Stephens Girl, I have a cabinet full of hair products with silicone that I'm going to have to give away :( I LOVE trying new things, but I love my progress more LOL! Congrats on finding products that really work for you!! It's so important.
You know - I've had Living Proof (sample sizes) for a few years and I keep it in my guest bathroom - I will have to try it out. My hair is almost BSL stretched -- so will have to try it. That Black Vanilla -- girl - yes. I love it! Love the look! #BoneStructureOnPoint! Have a great weekend!
I ask my manager about my professional appearance, including my natural hair. she gave me a compliment but said in reference to my hair, it is a drastic change. What do you think she meant by that. I didn't feel good about it. my hair is natural.
+wanna benatural hmmm context is key. I'm. It sure what the conversation was exactly about, but the best advice I can give is to ask her directly what she meant. When it comes to our hair/appearance we can be hyper sensitive. I've been there. Just approach it lightly and find out what she meant. Try and separate fact from emotion. Did you actually make a drastic change? It will help you put the conversation in perspective.
+LaToya Codner I use to wear wigs to work, now I, wear my natural hair. I was concerned because a couple of my co-workers jokingly mabe comments that made me think that maybe they had heard something about me or my job status ,like a warning, I decided to ask if the way I wear my hair now was within policy and professional. That's when my manager said that I was fine and that my hair was a drastic change. it was not unprofessional.
+wanna benatural Gotcha. Two things: I hate that wearing our hair in its natural state concerns us in the work place. If they can do it, so can we! *ends soap box* The second thing is...technically your manager is right. Wigs to natural IS a drastic change. Even for you. Listen, I've been there before and haven't always felt confident about my hair. I've had a manager make a comment about my look after I decided to wear my hair out and it sucked. Just remember this, the way YOU hold your head up and smile and accept compliments about your hair, is most likely the way others will view you and your crown. Take the comment or the undertone with a grain of salt. Validation and acceptance is nice, but sometimes you have to put the blinders on and keep moving forward. I'm proud of you for wearing your beautiful hair to work. Now go and continue to show them that your beautiful head of hair only crowns a beautiful and magnificent brain. 😉
+Liyah Celestine Not necessarily. Sulfates can be drying to the hair, so it's best to use them to fully cleanse the hair sparingly, especially if you're still using silicone based products.
Thanks for the video I just did my second big chop.

I think I only counted 4 products but your title says 5 am I wrong?
Ah yes, in the linked blog post I mention the last one, but didn't put it in the video. Good catch!
Are sulfate products bad for natural hair?
Well, they dry your hair out, so yeah..
+CC Does Protective Styles Ok, thank you

I don't know the last time I sat under the dryer, lol
+tocrazyjay LMAO!! I only do it when I'm being "extra" now. I'd rather use a heated hair bonnet
I want to roll around in your wig... 🖤🖤🖤
