    Great video. You forgot to mention the importance of keeping up with the safety codes though. The fire department will need that new master key in their knox box.

    just did a job where maintenance changes out some panic bars and levers, but replaced the sargent cylinders on those doors with schlage cylinders then and wanted me to tie it into the existing system. What I did first was ( obviously) to replace the schlage cylinders with sargent. Then I removed and gutted one of the original cylinders( all were perimenter doors and KA), decoded it and pinned the new cyliders to match. Just like a #lockboss.

    I often find myself in the situation you described bc the integrity of the system was already compromised due to a lack of key control. Everybody needs a master key, etc etc. #lockboss

    Super helpful . Ran into a “master” system that was designed by a hardware store for an apartment complex
    All locks had dropped 2 pins per cylinder. needed a revamp client was going to have a convo with builder before Anything was done thankful no occupancy yet - #lockboss

    My first time of running into someone else system, Customer said she owned the building (she didn't) said locks where not master keyed (they where) said they didn't need to be master keyed (they did). Added $100 to the bill for the hassle and dishonesty. Swapping keyways would of been helpful there. #lockboss

    When we go to a rural areas to do these jobs we use the hierarchy tree when adding or repairing systems an existing system. Or go to is the F keyway. Great points as always. Also we decode the master and try to do a fill in the blank for possible additional work later. #LockBoss

    Composite keyway? You ended saying replace supply room with a K keyway for access with either the A or E key (at least that's what I understood you to say). I don't see that supported in the charts. #LOCKBOSS

    Starting off, I figured you would have to change the keyway to avoid duplicates of old locks. I did not know about the h series that would work with both for masters. Thanks for the info! #Lockboss

    Precise Documentation is an absolute MUST as you will be pinning cylinder(s) with the EXACT identical pins in the exact same configuration (in a different keyway) to take this system over as an intelligent #lockboss. BE SURE you understand what your are doing and you MUST keep good records.

    To me that seems like the most logical option especially if you can't get ahold of the chart and that keyway isn't that much more expensive. The most difficult part is getting your customer to understand why you recommend doing that and the reason for the higher cost due to replacing the cylinders. #lockboss

    why not use a sc20 keyway on the Schlage system?

      @@clksupplies oh okay. I was just wondering. I have used sc20 for all but it was on a VERY large system for a medical mall. Also I’ve been a follower for quiet awhile hit this is my first time commenting. I just got done setting my locksmith van up. How do I share pictures or a clip so viewers can possibly see?

    If you pull the pins out of cylinder including master pins, and you have a change key and master, isn’t it possible to reverse engineer it to determine the system?

      @@51-FS I’m gunna master a lock cylinder then see if I can reverse engineer it. However seems simple, just get bottom pins to determine change key bitting then using master pins in cylinder and space it belongs to, that should give you change key and master key bittings

      If you add the difference instead of subtract that will tell you the master key bitting
