That's what happened to me. I used to love singing but after straining my voice so much, I lost it. I got it back a week later but I was not able to sing anymore. My vocal chords were damaged permanently. :(
Unfortunately surgery is not an option for me and I will not be able to sing again.

I'm a singer meself, (although NOT currently professional). I used to be in a band MANY years ago now, and the way Miley's voice went in this particular Hannah Montana episode- the amount of bloody times that's happened to ME an' all! MANY a time, my voice has gone EXACTLY like that after I've sung a lot, (and sometimes, about ten times bloody worse than that!) :/
It’s called laryngitis, like you’d know if you ever went to see a doctor. I currently have it again (a few times a year) thanks to my asthma -.-

It's not a lost episode. She didn't loose it. The surgery went great and she just imagined how it'd be if she had a bad singing voice.
This problem is not going to go away on it’s own, if you ever want to sing again, I’m afraid you’re going to have to undergo surgery

She learned signing again in the episode it was a dream and then she saw her mom who helped her sing again and then she could be Hannah Montana again
