No, not really. This group was the original Masters V and they toured together with Rosie for two years and 4 albums before Rosie had to retire and was replaced by Shaun Nielsen and then Steve Warren.
@@Djm8520we had the pleasure of seeing them live twice. Once when Rosie was with them, and then a few years later when Steve Warren was with them. We recorded the second time on professional reel to reel equipment. Still have that tape. Wonderful group.
@@littleprincess4417 👍👍 I saw all three versions: Rosie, Steve and Shaun, but unfortunately Shaun was struggling vocally the one time I saw him with them.
No one will ever do this better ! ! I was blessed to hear him so many times. And with his medical issues he sounded wonderful. Thanks for sharing this with those of us who knew añd followied these men for over 50 years. So great to have video recording. James Blackwood gave me a new record with this song on it so I have a back up ! !
Little did we know that just 8 years later,Heaven would gain yet another golden voice that of Brother Rosie Rozell. Another legendary tenor voice,Brother Bill Shaw, would join Heaven’s choir in 2019. Brother Sumner and Brother Lister would both pass away in 1999, Brother Blackwood would pass on in 2002 and Brother Hess would join them in 2004.
Rosie made this song special because it was his personal testimony. He went to Heaven 7 years later. Wish there was more video of them on this evening!!! Rosie was filling in for Steve Warren because Steve had recent foot surgery and since it was short term, Rosie said he could handle road life for a couple of weeks.
This brings back such wonderful memories of when Jake and Rosie, Jake and JD would come to church Marietta Georgia and I got to play with the piano with them.
He was an incredible person as well. He was one of the police officers who escorted my family to the hospital the night I fell out of our car as a little girl. Before he left, he had prayer with my mother.
Whew! Nobody can sing it like Rozie! Only Ernie is the closest! R.I.P. Rozie. I know your up there w/Hovie, Chief, Jake, Doy, etc singer together again.
me to those were the best days in gospel music along with the black woods never missed when they were in ST LOUIS THE FOURTH THURSDAY OF THE MONTH MY DAD ALWAYS TOOK US
Rosie sure could do his song! notice that Ernie and others say they found a saviour and Rosie says they found my Jesus! both men do wonderful however who can touch this awesome quartet indeed the rolls royces of gospel music. Now all in Glory!
Steve Warren replaced Rosie when he couldn't sing any longer due to health reasons. Steve Warren also sang with JD Sumner and the Stamps. I met Steve Warren one year at Duff's smorgasbord restaurant in Pigeon Forge,Tn when he was there playing piano and taking requests as the patrons ate. I bought three of his cds and one was the Masters Five when he joined the group. Pure awesome. I sang I John with him there in the restaurant, because it was a favorite of Elvis, and he also sang with Elvis when the Stamps sang with him. Good times.
I've seen Ernie Hass and Signature Sound twice sing this song at Gatlinburg's Convention Center during Memorial Day weekend but no one-no one will ever sing it like Rosie. I wished I had heard him in person.
What a great song by a super tenor. The very best in my opinion that has every sang in a quartet. However theological speaking the song is incorrect. " They never had to search heaven for someone to send." God knew from the beginning it would be his son. It was determined before the foundation of the earth was laid. Given that I still love the song!!!
no one said anything so i will the late rosie rozell trained brian free tenor from gold city now has his own group called brian free and assurance so if anyone has heard of brian im sure most southern gospel fans has heard of brian free well brian trained with rosie so brian is as good as he is today because of rosie rozell
@plankboi I heard Earnie sing this w/the Cathedrals, durin the taping of the "Deep on the Heart of Texas' it was AWESOME. However, I agree w/the time Dean Brown sang w/Rosie. WHEW, talk bout anointing.
I Love the song, but if you sing it... you need to change the words to "then down from Heaven, came Jesus my Savior, to save a poor lost soul like me" BECAUSE... they didn't search through Heaven, and just find some dude named Jesus that was good enough! He was God In the flesh... not some created being! :) Words have meaning!
It was just a pure miracle that you commented and educated the rest of us with your vast knowledge. I really appreciate you letting us know. Come here , let me pat you on the back. You are so smart. Now with that being said , im going to enjoy the song just as I have for the last almost 45 years. The exact way it was written. But ill never forget you and this great info you have shared. You certainly are the "gifted" one (rolling eyes). God bless!
One of the rare times there are five living legends on the same stage.

Rosie Rozell set the bar for all others to sing this song from here on out...no one can sing it like him..
I agree he was awesome, however, Ernie Hauss of the Cathedrals was the king of Oh What a Savior
@@mavl3951 Not even close. Rosie hands down!

I am so happy my Dad took us to see these great singers when we were young. , back in the day. Love Their music.

These guys were legendary...No other group could touch them..
Possible the greatest quaret of all time. Each had fame and popularity on their own, but together was untouchable!!!
There are other folks who do a fine job on this song, but only Rozie Rozell owns it!
Thanks again Dean!
A song of the century that touches my heart every time I hear it!
This brings back such wonderful memories of when Jake and Rosie, Jake and JD would come to church Marietta Georgia and I got to play with the piano with them.
Five of gospels musics best without a doubt...all of them gone home to be with the Lord..
Rosie, Jake Hess & the greatest, no one can question, leader pianist, Hovie

Rosie was such an incredible singer.
He was an incredible person as well. He was one of the police officers who escorted my family to the hospital the night I fell out of our car as a little girl. Before he left, he had prayer with my mother.

I would say this is probably the best group ever put together in Southern Gospel Music !!!!!
Absolutely without a doubt , the best of the best, their voices blend perfectly.

Ill have to disagree! Thats gotta go to Anchormen Quartet!!
one of the best ever first tenors in Gospel Music.... oh, how I enjoyed seeing Rosie Rozell as part of The Statesmen in 1950s and 60s

ROSIE was just great
That's SHOUTIN music folks!
Certainly Masters indeed.
There is no discussion as to who sings this song the best. The only debate is which version of Rosie’s is the best. I think this is his greatest.
Steve Warren replaced Rosie when he couldn't sing any longer due to health reasons. Steve Warren also sang with JD Sumner and the Stamps. Warren could sing all 4 parts and play any instrument including the piano
Songs of all songs
I've seen Ernie Hass and Signature Sound twice sing this song at Gatlinburg's Convention Center during Memorial Day weekend but no one-no one will ever sing it like Rosie. I wished I had heard him in person.
I saw the Kingsmen and the Master's V in concert in Red bank Tennessee back in 1985 or 86, I really enjoyed it.
