As a Dutchy, 9 out of 10. Missed out on the number of stripes on the flags. Guessed 12 instead of 13. I know what the stars and stripes represent, can never recall the exact figures in these sorts of questions.
@@e8gj4jg84u I have zero interest in American football, but I do know that Tom Brady is a footballer. Wouldn’t know him from Adam to look at, but I recognise the name. The issue for me is that I always get his name mixed up with Tom Hardy (who’s an actor, another of the options). Really had to disentangle them in my mind before answering here.

@@exploringtheforeign Thank you! Yes, I was taking a leap of faith with the last one by assuming it was a trick question (I really wanted to get 10/10 when I got so far)
I screwed up the language question.. I think I actually might have known that at one time. It's confusing because in Canada we had 2 national languages when I was in school but I wouldn't be surprised if they added a bunch of Indian languages since then.. anyhow so it's hard to imagine a country not having the concept of a national language

I got 9 out of 10, only the last question i got wrong because obviously i went for english as the official language. And... i"ll admit 13 stripes on the flag was a lucky guess. I've always found it interesting that New York used to be New Amsterdam, just like other names in new york are based on dutch names: Brooklyn=Breukelen, Harlem=Haarlem, Broadway was originally based on the dutch Breede Weg and we have streets here called Breestraat wich would be Broadstreet in english. I also just learned just now that there is so much more, there are towns in New York called Watervliet and Kinderhook and the town of Hempstead is based on Heemstede, Bushwick=Boswijk, Gravesend is based on 's Gravesande and the Hudson river is named after Henry Hudson, who was the first to travel there on behalf of the WIC. the name Manhattan on the other hand is a European bastardisation of what the Native Americans called "manna-hata" wich would mean island of many hills, though there's multiple interpretations of that, another document refers to it as "Manahachtanink" meaning "Island of intoxication" wich was a consequence of the dutch settlers gifting the native american tribe there alcohol.

The questions were too easy 😂I scored 9/10 never heard of White Castle before so I guessed McDonalds 😂😂 History and Geography were my favorite classes so I guess that helped! Keep up the good work Sam 🙏❤️
I’ve been to the US many times, and many Dutch people say most Americans are ignorant about Europe. I found that not to be true, it all depends on the person. Some people really knew everything about Europe and the Netherlands others told me they truly loved Norway when telling them I was born in Amsterdam 🤣🤣 I guess it’s the same here with our views on the US: it all depends on who you talk to!
I don't even know how I got 9/10 as well, but I guess that social media and the fact that I remember pretty useless things quite easily helps alot. I only had that question about the stripes of the flags wrong. I couldn't remember if it was 12 or 13.
History and geography (also my favorite subjects), american movies and sports really exported culture like never before. I only knew about white castle beacuse of the movies Harold and Kumar from the early/mid 2000s. Im portuguese and grew up in spain xD..awesome job on the video bud x
😅 Wait, what? There is no official language in the US? 😮 I got two questions wrong and that was one of them. I also didn't know how many stripes are on the flag. That was so much fun! Really good questions! That winning couple was impressive.

Nice. Had 9 out of 10. Missed out on Thanksgiving, confused as I was as my sister live in Canada, where they celebrate in October. Surprising to see so many guessed the Lone Star state wrong... Trivia such as the story of White Castle I knew from being addicted to Uncle John's Bathroom readers and other Americana.
Great quiz!! I got 9/10. Thanksgiving tripped me up 😅 Wasn't sure, I knew it was either "November or the month before" (because of thanksgiving and halloween) but didn't realize October was missing 😂
Haha, thank you and thank you for playing! :) I'm kicking myself in the butt for not putting October as an option, would've really tricked a lot of people lol.
Got 10/10 and I live in Zwolle so I feel like I could've had a shot😂 (un)fortunately I was on a roadtrip with a friend across the northern/northeast US, so that may have been cheating a little bit 😅 I do love how super friendly Americans are
In summary, I got question 5,6 and 9 wrong. From which our host did not know number 5 until he researched it as well. (And he didn't know number 10 either.) For everyone interested into the mind of another Dutch man, my reasoning is down below: 1: C. This is something I learned in high school. 2: D. I watched some videos online and this stuck as a cotcha against any American. 3: A. This was purely a guess based on the reasoning that Americans seem to like American Football. I have never heard of his name. 4: C. Like question 2, I got this from watching videos online but just happened to store it in my brain. 5: A. This was purely a guess and sadly it was wrong. I did have a big feeling it would not be mcdonald's so I gambled on the other big chain. 6: C. I know that the stars represent the amount of states but did not know that the stripes stood for anything specific. So I gambled for the middle of the remaining three since it's definitely not 50. 7: C. I got this from watching documentaries on the television. 8: B. Everything is bigger in texas, so they need the space... 9: C. I have no idea. 10: D. With how accepting the US is of the spanish speaking population, there can't be an official language or this would be enforced a lot more. (The USA really isn't that free in my mind...) And if you read this far, feel free to donate the €14 to a charity if you can.
5/10! Though like 2 of those wrong ones were so obvious i'm ashamed to say which ones they were x) Really fun video your social interaction is amazing!! 💜
Fun fact pertaining to question no.4: The declaration of independence is actually based on the Dutch declaration of independence where we declared our independence of Spain. It is called the “Plakkaat Van Verlatinghe.”

Love this video and im really curious if your statistics also show that this really works for your profile because im a fan :-) (im also a fan of your other work, basically because of the postive vibe you bring to all of your videos! ) would love for you to bring up the options a little bit longer though, as now i have to rewind and pause before im able to make my MC choice!
I'm dutch and I would have known most answers without multiple choice, except the stripes, the first fast food and the thanksgiving one. Thanksgiving movies are disguised as Christmas movies here...I would have guessed November with these options.
I love how the questions were pretty easy, which made it more fun. I only got one wrong, which was "White Castle". I've never heard of that! Time to look it up :D
Scored 8/10. Failed on White castle and on the stripes. Tom Brady I just happened to guess right but I really didn't know him 🤣 Really fun video!! Sub'd!
9/10 (Dutch here as well). Only wrong answer was #5 about the burger chains. Answered McDonalds, though I already suspected it would be one of either C or D as I'd never heard of those before.
Dutchman here, I only got the thanksgiving one and the oldest fast food chain one wrong...! I never heard of White Castle, I think I may have heard about it a very few times though but definitely not enough to know it was the oldest fast food chain of the US. I thought Thanksgiving was celebrated during fall, where September and November are both in... But my gut feeling went for September...!
Mooi dat je door Nederland heen reist. Kom ook eens naar Kampen, de Nederlandse stad die tussen de 14e en 16e eeuw de Grootste van Nederland was en 4x zo groot als Amsterdam
If you ask: 8 correct. I missed the White Castle (no idea) and the number of stripes (knew it was for the original colonies but thought those were 12 - probably confusing with the 12 tribes of Israel). The questions were not really that difficult for someone with some general knowledge as they were not that specific (only the White Castle was extremely USA specific). Maybe the number of stripes and the no official language are not as well known, but the others I could've answered when I was 15 years old.
9/10 did not know about the fastfood chains and I guessed the last question right about the language.. But the rest was kinda easy and just like other people I am surprised about so many wrong answers. I like your style. You are funny, you laugh a lot, and it is easy to watch. Thanks.
I personally got 7-10 questions correct. Didn't know about White Castle, the amount of stripes and Tom Brady! I can't help it but feel like this doesn't really represent how much most Dutch people know about America though, as I was so shocked these people didn't even know where Texas was on the map!? I'm sure most Dutch people would get at least 6 correct. But regardless, that was a very fun video to watch! And it was lovely to see Zwolle, the city that I went to college in being represented here! Finally an American that's somewhere other than Amsterdam! I'm sure most people watching (and reading) this will be Dutch, but if you're an American (or another foreigner) watching this and are planning to visit the Netherlands in the future. I'd highly recommend visiting the city of Zwolle! It's a beautiful old city with a lovely vibe and lots of terraces you can sit and eat! It's only about an hour away from Amsterdam by train, and the city itself is very walkable!
I thought the questions could have been better - why would anyone know about Tom Brady or White Castle (since it's not even exported)? As an American, I have zero interest in Tom Brady. I can't name a footballer on a Dutch team, yet I think I would do well on a general test about the Netherlands.
Nice vid. Nobody ever goes to Zwolle to film, how did you like it? A tip for the video is to show the answers just a little longer on the screen so it's easier to play along.
9 out of 10 as a French Belgian. Just missed the Strippes question... Although i've heard about it in an old episode of The Simpsons. The rest i did knew over time when reading or watching american shows/documents.
As another fellow Dutchy, 9 outta 10. I went wrong on the language, which I feel was a trick question any way :p And I do love coming with Dutch gifts, always going to make people happy with those. Though I feel bringing American Gifts would've been more cool!
8/10 I got the flag wrong and what it was called before.. afterwards I did knew it was New Amsterdam lol. The Whitecastle one I just quessed right, since it wasnt familiar for me, it directly made it old?.
Never heard of white castle but got the rest right. I’ve been going to the states since ‘97 on a regular basis to visit my two brothers and their families, and actually been to a great many of all the states. Going again soon to Northern California and Oregon .
I had 9 out of 10 right. Just missed the fast-food one. I did recently watch about the American flag which only specifies the amount of stripes and that they have to be red/white. Legally the stripes can vary in width, the blue panel can be placed anywhere and the stars are also not described at all (just the amount). The exact colors are also not set by law which was quite strange to me, since the Dutch flag has proper colors and dimensions specified.

I got 7 out of 10. Great questions, didn’t know a few of those. You should swap these and do the Dutch ones on Holland and these in the US. I’d be very interested (and probably shocked) with the results!😅
Great stuff, Ruurd! Which ones did you miss? And that's a great video idea! haha
I paused at all the questions and got them all correct. Not bad for a MBO guy right :P
😂😂😂 geweldig!
You will have 100K subs by the end of the year, probably more. Just keep it going, very entertaining!
Thank you! Let's make it happen :)
These were fun questions, great video Sam!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed :)
Nice quiz Sam. I got 8 of 10 right. I didn’t know about Tom Brady and White Castle. I guessed McDonalds since it’s the most famous. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Michel! And great job! I didn't know the White Castle one either before the video haha
Same i missed the white Castle question and the last one about the official language wich was a really tricky one in my opinion.
Exactly the same😊
I only missed the white castle one. Never heard of that. Tom Brady I knew, but only because I saw an interview once with him and lewis hamilton 🤷🏼♀️
Same :)
Haha, next time I'm throwing in the more advance questions for you, Robert! Lol!
Great job, and thank you for playing along. Glad you enjoyed!
That winning couple was impressive.
fun fact the moment they did choise for no offical they did almsot choice one, dutch, not english even.
Language thing is crazy, right?! Haha
Thanks for watching as always! Glad you enjoyed.
@@Helleuw123 That's a myth unfortunately which started circulating due to the Constitution being printed in Dutch for the New Yorkers. (But also in German for Pennsylvanians)
@@MrDagren not a myth, dutch was the second msot spoken language but sicne there so many they did decide to go for none, and the english being a no gob akc then was logical
Kleine flex, maar ik had 10/10. Ik vond de moeilijkste vraag toch wel de thanksgiving, maar ik wist dat het aan het einde van het jaar was.
Really enjoyable to watch. Thanks for that!
Thanks, Vincent!
Great job! And yeah I could imagine that the Thanksgiving one is confusing!
Maar White castle ken je wel? 🥲
@@e8gj4jg84u Harold & Kumar go to white castle 😉
Got 10/10 and I live in Zwolle so I feel like I could've had a shot😂 (un)fortunately I was on a roadtrip with a friend across the northern/northeast US, so that may have been cheating a little bit 😅 I do love how super friendly Americans are
I'm a geography nerd since like a month ago so I'm glad to say, 9/10 correct! toffe videos die je maakt man!
Heel goed gedaan! En dankjewel voor het kijken!
This is so cute! Love your interviewing style - 🥺keep it up ~~
Thank you!!
In summary, I got question 5,6 and 9 wrong. From which our host did not know number 5 until he researched it as well. (And he didn't know number 10 either.)
For everyone interested into the mind of another Dutch man, my reasoning is down below:
(The USA really isn't that free in my mind...)
And if you read this far, feel free to donate the €14 to a charity if you can.
Awesome job! And I plan on doing something soon with charity involved, so I got you!
Very fun video! Thank you for doing this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
5/10! Though like 2 of those wrong ones were so obvious i'm ashamed to say which ones they were x) Really fun video your social interaction is amazing!! 💜
Fun fact pertaining to question no.4:
The declaration of independence is actually based on the Dutch declaration of independence where we declared our independence of Spain. It is called the “Plakkaat Van Verlatinghe.”
Wish the Americans knew this fact…
Leuk filmpje, goeie energie maat! ga zo door!
Dankjewel!
SOOOO fun to watch! love your energy. and omg the guy who got 9/10 was a legend
Thank you!!! :)
Wat een vrolijke uitstraling heb je. Leuke positieve video!
Dankjewel!😁
I had them all right up until the last question damn! great video, love the idea!
Amazing keep up 🤞🏽
Dankjewel!
8 right. I feel good on that score. Thanks for the vid!
9 out of 10! I didnt know the question about the flag, but I'm sure to remember it now. Thank you for this fun video :D
Haha great job! Glad you enjoyed!
Love this! You should come to Zwollywood more often. Ik woon in de binnenstad, had het heel leuk gevonden!
Volgende keer! :)
Yeaaaaaah, a video in my hometown!!!!
Nice video. Good questions!
Thanks, Matt! :)
Hey my friend!
Thank you! And in the trivia video I did after this, I made sure to leave the questions on a little longer :)
I just noticed at the end of the video, when you were standing on the bridge, you filmed this video in Zwolle haha. I hope you like the city ^^
I loved it!
Very nice little video!
Thanks, Tim!
Spontane jongen, leuke content. ga zo door !
Dankjewel!
I got 8/10. Absolutely loved how you set up and conducted this interview.
Amazing video!
I'm dutch and I would have known most answers without multiple choice, except the stripes, the first fast food and the thanksgiving one. Thanksgiving movies are disguised as Christmas movies here...I would have guessed November with these options.
Great and creative way, for connecting and understanding, my brother! I salute you, p. s. Had a score of seven, much love 🙏✌
Thank you, Verdi! Glad you enjoyed :) Which did you miss?
@@exploringtheforeign the sportsman, George Washington, and the last mis, in need to search..
Sub'd!
You were inthe city I have school in and I missed you. Next time come to Windesheim!
Finally a vid made in the great city of Zwolle, instead of the typical Amsterdam videos
Nice to see an expat also go to places outside of the Randstad.
The Netherlands is the most English friendly country in the entire world where English isn't a native language
9 right i love cultures and always try to understand their way its their country so i have to change if i wanne live there and not the otherway around
Apart from the fast food one and Thanksgiving I had them all!
9/10 did not know about the fastfood chains and I guessed the last question right about the language.. But the rest was kinda easy and just like other people I am surprised about so many wrong answers. I like your style. You are funny, you laugh a lot, and it is easy to watch. Thanks.
Thank you for this feedback!
As someone from zwolle I freaked when I saw this was in my city😂 happy to have you here, it’s just not that’s common to see my city in the media😂
Haha, I love hearing that. It's nice going to the cities where people ususally don't go to!
the people that get the texas awnser wrong have never watched spongebob that show hammers it in your head with just 1 episode
hahaha
Am Dutch, got a perfect score. Also I am from Zwolle so a shame I didn't run into you 😂
Nice vid. Nobody ever goes to Zwolle to film, how did you like it? A tip for the video is to show the answers just a little longer on the screen so it's easier to play along.
Zwolle was nice! And I listened to this feedback and hopefully you can see the improvement in the latest video😁
Can't put it into words but this video just feels wholesome!
Thank you!!
9 out of 10 as a French Belgian. Just missed the Strippes question... Although i've heard about it in an old episode of The Simpsons. The rest i did knew over time when reading or watching american shows/documents.
As another fellow Dutchy, 9 outta 10. I went wrong on the language, which I feel was a trick question any way :p
And I do love coming with Dutch gifts, always going to make people happy with those. Though I feel bringing American Gifts would've been more cool!
Ahh the American gifts would've been a cool idea actually haha, I don't know why I didn't think of that.
8/10 I got the flag wrong and what it was called before.. afterwards I did knew it was New Amsterdam lol. The Whitecastle one I just quessed right, since it wasnt familiar for me, it directly made it old?.
9 / 10. I knew it wasn't McDonalds, but I didn't know which one was, so guessed wrong. This was fun to watch ( and join), thanks! 😊
Goed gedaan Judith! Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed :)
Goddamn, 8/10 im surprised myself, you speak some pretty good Dutch! Honestly!
Dankjewel, Duncan!
we really needed these lessons
7:38 10/10.. and only because my husband loves American football, or I would’ve failed that one 😂
Fun fact: the original constitution was also printed in Dutch and German. German for Pennsylvanians and Dutch for New Yorkers.
9/10 ! I thought Thanksgiving was celebrated some days before Christmas.. Now I know !
Never heard of white castle but got the rest right. I’ve been going to the states since ‘97 on a regular basis to visit my two brothers and their families, and actually been to a great many of all the states. Going again soon to Northern California and Oregon .
Wow, amazing! What do you think of the States?
I had 9 out of 10 right. Just missed the fast-food one.
I did recently watch about the American flag which only specifies the amount of stripes and that they have to be red/white. Legally the stripes can vary in width, the blue panel can be placed anywhere and the stars are also not described at all (just the amount).
The exact colors are also not set by law which was quite strange to me, since the Dutch flag has proper colors and dimensions specified.
9/10, didn't know the White Castle one. Also, I live in Zwolle so it's nice to see my city like this
9/10. Got wrong on the stripes but when u explained it I was sitting facepalming 😂 love this content!
Haha, glad you enjoyed! Great job!
