After finding out that many have QC issue, especially with fader contact, it's good to wait a little bit of time and make a decision if i actually need it or not
The gorgeous design got my attention, and the price was attractive; but what convinced me to buy it was the UI and workflow, which seems very intuitive and fast. I’ve gone few a couple of samplers in the last few years, and I end up not using them because all the menu-diving and looking stuff up in the manual takes the fun away. (Looking at you, TR-6S.)
When I was younger I worked in a lot of restaurants. I remember reading a trade magazine which talked about having 'dummy items' on the menu. For example:
You have a steak for $20, and a steak with shrimp for $25. People think 'only $5 extra for shrimp?! What a great deal!' when the reality may be that they're both overpriced, but the combo is LESS overpriced.
Not saying the KO II isn't worth $300, but it seems TE read the same magazine.
Mine is arriving on 29th. It'll be my first TE device. I've tried almost every groovebox out there and with every one there's been something that has kept me from keeping it. I'm hoping this one will be the One!
I agree with you on the op1 field. I was set to buy one until I saw the price tag. I just couldn’t justify it. I was going to buy the po33 this week when a fun looking new product showed up. I didn’t hesitate at all to pick one up. It’ll be fun to see what you do with it. Quick warning. When setting it up be careful putting on the fader cap. Apparently some people have been breaking their faders doing it since it needs some force.
I think they did this one right, and smartly. It has the soul of the PO series which blew up because of the fun. Everything about the previews just looks fun and easy to use. A broken clock is right twice a day.
Ordered one also. TE broke the synth internet yesterday.

In my corner of the synth world it was less about the price (still a great price) and more about the immediacy. Here you have a not micro immediately useful sampler that plays stereo samples! No ridiculous menu diving or three plus button combos needed.
You could get an OP-1 protective cover and pretend there's an OP-1 under it.
No resampling🤦♂️
Maybe in a firmware update sometime? With that sequencer it’s not a deal breaker for me to be honest, hope to tell you more soon!

Just wondering if they're not selling enough of those tables and need to release a "pile 'em high sell 'em cheap" product to fund their more extravagant designs? It looks great, it's actually sensibly priced and it's on my purchase list. It's just a few items short of perfect, where's the printer paper roll and more importantly an SD card slot would have been nice. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Best wishes.

I really can't hate TE for making over-priced vanity products, and also, nothing they've offered has interested me. I'm not aware of anything they've done that one would consider unethical.
So, I really can't hate TE, so it immediately caught my attention. And, I doubt we'd all be talking about it if it weren't aesthetically well-designed. And, it's not a cringey vanity product, price and features are nice... hundreds of people didn't bat an eye about ordering one on the first day. They can't all be TE fan-boys/gals.
Really looking forward to all the weird areas everyone can get into with this in spite of its limitations!
Great idea but there are serious hardware issues reported. The slider/fader breaks easily, some are reporting stuck buttons and one major reviewer (BoBeats) had his speaker quit. Buyer beware!
I was shopping for a decent sampler....too bad TE sold out so quickly...so I bought a Roland SP404MK2....instead.
Thought about buying this but then thought what can this do that my mpc live 2 or my op1 cant do besides look like a calculator? Not hating it looks cool but i already have stuff that can do what it does. I love that it has midi tho. Thats fuxking cool

People are still sleeping on its sequencer....the 99 bar, 99 pattern is workstation type stuff and Franky missing in the groovebox world.

let's not forget it all started with pocket operators. cheap ingenious pocket synths. little affordable technological marvels. i think with the ko2 they just came back to their roots. luckily for us :)

The release has added some perspective to my opinion of TE overall. As a “relatively small” company, product teams are even smaller and the music production teams a subset again. The priority FIELD program (synth, mic, mixer, recorder) has reached maturity and the teams are able to take on new projects that connect more with the PM-170/400, and compliment to some degree with OP-Z (which I’m guessing the successor is next in line for release). I love the look and style of this, but didn’t make the purchase solely because it’s a v1 release and undoubtedly little issues will arise (already there’s a post about the slider not functioning correctly). I will own this eventually and do believe TE is doing great things, however! Looking forward to your video.

Yo he tenido guitarras de más de 3k con headstocks frágiles y 3ra cuerda imposible de afinar, asi que 2k por un workstation bellísimo que entra en el bolsillo trasero de mi pantalón no parece tan absurdo XD.
Este sampler es una locura y voy a comprarlo sin duda. Solo espero que no se doble como mi OP-Z haha
Personally, I like almost all of their musical products. The issue of prices depends a lot on your preferences and obviously, your income. I've had guitars that cost over 3k with fragile headstocks and a 3rd string impossible to tune, so 2k for a beautiful workstation that fits in the back pocket of my pants doesn't seem so absurd XD. This sampler is crazy, and I'm definitely going to buy it. I just hope it doesn't bend like my OP-Z haha.

I am not a TE guy... but I think the thought process is that pocket operators are indiv modules and the op-1 is a multi module unit. I think this new KO2 is a new line of indiv modules. I got one, but imo this is a loop maker more than a song maker. I think ppl who didn't gel with the roland sp's who get this will prob sell. Just my imo...

Definitely the Apple of music gear, their brand exclusivity is repulsive. I have a feeling that KO II is specifically meant to get people back on their side. In their email and instagram posts about it you can almost taste how desperate TE is to have everyone know that they can afford TE’s new product. “Only $299!” like a cheap and sleazy car sale ad.
I’m hoping that TE learn from this, selling out in a day at that price point will hopefully show them that this is good business sense moving forwards.

Price has nothing to do with your 'need; to get it.. marketing does.
This does nothing more than any of the other equipment you have. Infact it does only a few more things that the pocket version.
You wanted it before you even new what it did.
