I Have a few points I do want to make, 1st. I do believe joker 2 will get some award recognition Because a lot of critics at Veicne are praising Lady Gaga's performance, so she could get nominated for leading actress. 2nd. I don't believe this will affect the box office for joker 2 3rd and lastly I want joker 2 out now.
He’s big time trying to avoid the issue. We already know that $7 million had already been invested in the now defunct project. All the sets had been built, locations locked in (and no doubt there would be some costs there) and the crew hired. The crew and director, Todd Haynes, were already in Mexico. The producers tried to see if Pedro Pascal was available to do it, but he was already committed to another project. So the producer and director made the decision to shut it down. I hasn’t read anywhere that Joaquin Phoenix owned the rights. He was the one who brought the project to Todd Haynes and producer Christine Vachon but the wrinkle that he owned the rights would make things extra challenging. Personally, I hope they sue his ass. He needs to learn that decisions have consequences! As for the box office for ‘Joker 2,’ you’re right that the average movie going public either won’t know about this or won’t be concerned, but there’s a small percentage who will be-especially union members and anyone else who cares about workers. Where it’s going to affect him is in terms of future employability. Producers will only put up with so much from stars. And when you already have a reputation for dropping out of projects before they start, this is only going to put an emphasis on that rep! Not the look you want when someone is being expected to spend money on a project where you’re the star!
I like him as actor and I have almost all of his movies in my collection but I don’t care what he do in his personal life but I think he did the right thing by dropping this movie
He did the right thing? He proposed the project in the first place and dropped last minute leaving a bunch of people without job and without payment - he was the MAIN reason the film was going to be made in the first place. His act was incredibly selfish and harmful to the crew and producers
As somewhat of a fan of his, this is disappointing. On the other hand, as a card holding gay person, I can only speak for myself but I have a 0% desire to see Phoenix play in an intense gay love story. Not that he couldn’t pull it off, but practically half of Hollywood is gay. He really should have considered giving the role to someone that would commit to it before scrapping the project. Also, (oh god I’m about to rant) a straight guy playing a gay guy doesn’t read as brave anymore. When I was younger I was all about movies like Brokeback Mountain but with time I’ve become a lot more critical of those films because they only offer a straight person’s idea of what a gay love story looks like. They seldom reflect actual gay people. Anyway, I’m a gay married father of a 4 year old with too much time on RUclips lately, so maybe I’m just being a bit snooty here, but I suspect this was probably going to be another overly sanitized, pandering, Oscar baity film about gay love. So perhaps we all dodged a bullet with the scrapping of this movie.
the filmmaker who was going to direct this film is Todd Haynes who is gay and he is incredibly talented, Joaquin is just the actor who is ALSO incredibly talented. You have a point and Im not gay but personally I think that at least in the acting department, actors are meant to not reflect their personal lives onto their roles, that's basically their main function. Directors, on the other hand, I would argue reflect much more of themselves on the film as a whole. But well I guess we’ll never know
@@alechats5184 you have a good point. I didn’t know about the director. It’s not that I disagree with a straight actor playing in a gay role. It’s that I’ve seen it done so many times before in ways that are just not honest. When I see a big name actor wanting to pursue a passion project like this it sets off red flags in my mind. So my rant was a knee jerk reaction, to be honest. I appreciate the points you made.
Loved The Joker but they say 2 is part musical so might not see it at the theater. I think he realized this new movie would flop and also hurt his career so he backed out.
I had read somewhere (don't know if it's true) but I heard that there was a particular "sex act" that was going to be in the movie. Joaquin didn't feel very comfortable in performing this, and I believe that is why he backed out. Again, I read this somewhere (I think it was a LGBTQ+ publication) but don't know how much of it is true. But regardless, if someone doesn't feel comfortable about doing something, they shouldn't be force to, however, he did seek out the role.
He didnt just seek out the role, he brought the WHOLE project, thats the thing. Also, i dont think that he got afraid of like just one act, he has his history of being incredibly evasive in getting into projects, which is a sadness because he is a tremendous actor, and I would argue he has done far more extreme and demanding stuff than just gay sex scenes
Most likely egos clashing and not being able to compromise. Doubt it has anything to do with playing a gay man. He chose the project himself. Must have been some major disagreements to scrap the whole thing that close to the first day of shooting though. Maybe rehearsals went awry and they realized it wasn’t going to work as a film.
Im confused 😮😮i saw the trailer and he was kissing and partner with a women on the joke part 2..he rich ,he doesn't care because he know he is valuable, i love his acting..
Did I miss the memo somewhere? Since when did Joker 2 become a gay love story? All I heard was that Lady Gaga was in it, and it was going to be a musical, and I find that part questionable. That's all I heard. What source did you find this story? Because I never saw this on Facebook.

No it won't. I don't think anyone outside Hollywood cares
Wow! I had no idea he had done this before. Thanks for the insight!

I don’t want him to get nominated or win for the same roll.
If he delivers a top performance, then he deserves to be nominated.

I don't think it's a full on musical. I believe there are musical elements. I recommend that you give it a chance.
who knows why, but if he did feel uncomfortable about it why would he want to play the lead roll?????, that makes no sense

Joker might be in trouble 😮
Could very possibly be a reason.

Who's the cute kitty on the bed?
That's Baby C!
it seems to me that you are disappointed that the actor gave up on that film, so you are interested in his reason
I'm disappointed by his actions, but not about the movie. I didn't know anything about the film before this story was revealed.
He needs to change his name again to Joaquin-Away Phoenix.
🤦

With no concrete explanation given, it's possible. Could be several reasons.

I'm not talking about Joker 2. It's about a different movie he was supposed to film. I made that very clear in the video.
If not in charge then why the law suit,🤫the contract is with the producer, 😮😮😮😮
He might get sued due to the cast and crew being unemployed suddenly with no wages.
@@MoviesSue but he didn't make the movie or start the movie ,he bail out before production nothing wrong with that
@@blueflame0003 yes there is! Contracts were signed and also the fact that he screwed everyone over.
The first reviews are in on JOKER 2 and they are not good
Trailer looked horrible
You're gonna listen to critcs who only like woke why
@@art23428Dude, shut up!
Make your own opinion of the film. Not what a bunch of critics say. Another article said it got a 3 min standing ovation. It don’t matter.
@williamdriver1959 yeah they shit on the first on Also
I was never interested in Joker 2. Looks like a pretentious mess.
You don't know unless you see the movie.

@@jimmymelendez1836 They are talking about a different movie. Phoenix withdrew a week or so ago from a new movie Todd Phillips is making.
You clearly didn't watch the video.
