In this episode, we're covering the second available launcher - the RPG.
It's a single-shot weapon, unlocked at level 12.
Originating from the Soviet Union, the 'Rooch-noy Protivo-tankovy Granato-meeot Séem', or RPG-7 - is a shoulder-launched anti-tank weapon.
First introduced in 1961, it replaced the earlier RPG-2 as the Soviet Army's anti-tank launcher of choice.
An inexpensive and rugged weapon, essentially consisting of little more than a tube and simple firing mechanism, the RPG-7 is capable of launching a wide range of ammunition.
Anti-tank rounds are the most common, but high explosive, fragmentation, and thermobaric rounds can also be used, meaning that the RPG-7 is a versatile weapon, suited to a wide number of targets.
The rockets themselves consist of the warhead at the front, and the rocket motor, which rests in the launch tube. When fired, the booster ignites with quite some force, leaving a sizeable backblast behind the operator.
In-flight, the main motor ignites some ten metres past launch, and can propel the rocket to a distance of over a kilometre.
Upon colliding with the target, the contact fuze is triggered and the shaped charge detonates, sending a deadly cone of molten metal, capable of penetrating through thick layers of armour.
The RPG is a single shot weapon, having no magazine to speak of - and the 40 millimetre launch tube accepts a variety of ammunition, with the most common being the PG-7V 85mm High Explosive, Anti Tank round.
In-game, you'll be equipped with 2 such rockets - or 3 should you equip Scavenger Pro.
Damage is identical to the RPG's closest comparison, the M72 LAW - you'll see a lethal radius of around 3.8 metres with unprotected opponents.
Against a Flak Jacket user at full health, you will need a direct impact to kill.
Although unguided the RPG can be employed against air support - a successful hit should down your target in one shot.
However, given the lack of lock-on and unpredictable trajectory of the rocket, the RPG isn't the most effective tool for air defence.
When equipped, you'll move at a snails pace - 80% of maximum mobility, making the weapon more suitable for a defensive role.
As with all the launchers, most of the weapon's handling characteristics are sluggish - half a second to aim, and 3.2 seconds to ready a new rocket after firing.
Unlike the thrown explosives or grenade launcher, both of which follow an arc - the rockets you fire will travel along a roughly straight trajectory, meaning that striking a surface near your opponent can be more difficult.
Your firing position is very important to maximise the chances of a good hit - maps with a high degree of verticality are useful.
If you can get an eagle eye's view on a domination point or bomb site, you can fire rockets from above, more precisely control the detonation location, and effectively defend an objective against larger groups.
This is where explosives shine - in any game mode where the enemies movements are centred on an objective, you'll be able to better predict where your foe will appear - and stand a much better chance at scoring multiple kills with a single rocket.
This applies even in Team Deathmatch - there exist a number of high traffic areas and chokepoints on most maps, where enemies tend to bunch up. This leaves them very vulnerable to explosives, assuming they've neglected to use Flak Jacket.
As far as air support is concerned, the RPG is in theory as potent as the other launchers - but the lack of lock-on means its practical applications are limited.
If you have them equipped, and find yourself without Ghost Pro - then by all means try and down a helicopter. Just don't expect it to be easy to land a successful shot.
The RPG is probably the best defensive launcher for use against enemy players - principally due to its healthier ammunition supply than the LAW, and superior handling and damage to the China Lake.
Against unprotected enemies bunched up at chokepoints, it's devastating.
In the open it's less effective - if you have a height advantage it can work well against single opponents, but all it takes is Flak Jacket and the effects of your missile will be thwarted.
This makes the weapon unreliable at best - and paired with the RPG's inherent lack of accuracy at range, every shot will be a dice roll.
Still, if the first rocket doesn't kill them, you've always a couple more - not even a Flak Jacket user can sponge two rockets in quick succession.
Explosives might be unreliable but there's nothing better for crowd control - it's much harder to down a larger group of enemies with your primary weapon than it is with the application of a little heavy ordnance.
Should your opponents neglect Flak Jacket as their first perk, and have a proclivity for standing close to one another - the RPG will ensure ... they go out with a bang
Although some might regard the explosives as cheap, I secretly relish these episodes. Spamming noob tubes and RPGs feels like payback for all those times I was subjected to RC-XDs.
In my opinion, explosives are no less skill demanding than sniper rifles. In fact, with their poor handling they might as well be more skilled considering you only have one shot for several seconds.
"the ruchnoy protivotankovy granatomyot sem', or RPG7... " that is just awesome.
I love how he says the full russian name with a perfect accent.
It's Russian not russian you uneducated third world class simpleton.
That's really impressive, especially for a British guy
>Shoots RPG almost directly at an enemy
>Rocket drifts like a Lada driven by a drunk gopnik, Exploding 2 meters away from a flak jacketed enemy
Soviet engineering at it's best
Sharkbait thats why you JUMP, and then shoot. if timing is correct and the rocket flies out of the tube on the TOP point of your jump, it would fly perfectly straight. Don't know why they did this, but that a real thing.
You see ivan when shot rocket, rocket fuck up target
Although IRL has an effective firing range of 330m w/ an almost certain probability of hitting at a range of 50m, w/ a >50% hit probability out to 200m unless in a crosswind.
Yeah, so about the RPG not having aircraft lock on, here’s a story: I was playing yesterday, and someone on the enemy team called in an attack helicopter. I took out my RPG, fired a shot, and it hit! I just was so proud of myself and then I hear from the game, “Enemy cobra, inbound” and I’m just like, are you kidding me?!
Lol
If you can aim it you can skip the flares and take it down with one hit instead of 2 shots
It's called "Handheld Anti-TANK Rocket launcher". Anti-TANK, not Anti-Attack Helicopter
Smh, use other rockets next time
I hate it when teammates get in front of me when I use this.

"...the Ruchnoy Protivotankovyy Granatomyot or RPG7..."
At Nuketown I scrapped a Huey chopper gunner with my RPG when it just entered the map. Those times were epic
+KousakaDystopic That sucks for the guy who got and deserved the chopper gunner (unless they got it from a care package). You do 9 kills without dying, you're happy to get your chopper gunner and then... it explodes.
Turtle Cake I remember he shouting at the mic and the sound was distorted, he said something about "Imma going to fuck you up"
KousakaDystopic lol poor guy xD
Same here except the map was Firing Range.
me 2
I used to be a God damn surgeon with the RPG in MW3... The doctor will be back in surgery come November!
NME10E still not backwards compatible :(
This man was ahead of his time! Great quality content.
I've been taking a lot of your advice on classes while going through my prestiges, testing out classes here and there, a lot of them are really good and I thank you very much for giving me a variety of things to choose.
Thank you.
I remember one time I was playing and I had the RPG, an enemy Gunship came in and I took it out with the RPG. The RPG is an effective AA weapon, you just need to get to a high point in a map, and wait for your target to stop moving. From then on, it goes down to your aim. Just keep close, stay high, and wait a few and you'll be able to knock some scrap metal out of the sky.
Shot at 2:56 was insane! He got a cross map direct impact noob tube while the explosive was not even active yet, so it was like a faster tomahawk.
This comment is such an old relic that the timestamp isn't even functional
It would be awesome if this gun had the different types of rockets in-game, and you could use them as attachments.
I am barely at prestige 3 and I have a total of 3,780 kills with the RPG.
Edit (2 years later): I still play BO1 and I am now at prestige 8 and have a total of just under 10,000 kills with the RPG (exactly 9,737).
Best name ever u still play bo1
Who still plays this?
Richard Sanchez
Me
Rodrigo Crisanto whats your gamer tag?
@@barriflores4097 yep
Wow, you make any weapon - even the RPG - look good. I can't wait for the AK74u!!
What bothers me about launchers in Call of Duty is that when you aim, you're basically putting it in your mouth.
i love that epic music that plays near the end..and then BOOm some epic quote that gives you goosebumps...
I don't know if it's just me, but the accuracy of this thing is extremely poor.
That’s because the further a rocket travels, the less accuracy it will have which is true in real life.
But you just have to know how and when to use it
i always love the dramatic pause, followed by a clever pun relating to the weapon at the end of these videos :D
"the inFAMAS AK74u" . . . there's that infamous dry sense of humor for ya. . .
amazing that he could even say that in his commentary about his commentary he said he nailed it first time that just makes xbox ahoy that much more epic
Damn that first clip was epic! good one stuart!
In theory this is the most powerful launcher in a anti-helo role. The Attack helo is a bit tricky has it has a apparent dodge ability. The Huey follows a predictable path, so it is easier to lead. The Hind; whilst the most mobile, gives people a huge god complex and has a blind spot bout 50' below the nose. Plus the lack of the lock on, the apparent downside, wont alert the gunner to your offense causing them to hunt down their targets with increased speed. Chaff is no problem, for same reason.
is he a robot?
Inspire Zach no
Maybe... 🤔
Peari why are resounding to a 4 year old post?🤔
@@0IIIIII cos I feel like it.... you don't exactly control me. Learn something. You don't control anyone apart from yourself. So choose to control yourself and not be the annoying shit you are right now.
Peari salty much?
If it's sub-par in the anti-vehicular role, then HEAT warheads aren't the ideal choice for anti-personnel use. The more ideal warhead for that purpose would be the OG-7V which has a 40mm HE-frag warhead with a 40mm booster. It basically looks like an elongated VOG-25 with fins, a booster, and a rocket motor.

Cant' stop god damn listening.
How good is this guy? At 2:57, "Grenade Launchers Not Active For 4 Seconds" and he just decides to get a direct impact "First Blood." Another excellent video Xbox Ahoy. Keep up the great work on this great series.
the only army word i understand from spetsnaz: GRENATA!
In Black Ops, Scavenger is a Tier 1 perk, Sleight of Hand Pro is a Tier 2 perk. Or in the words of XboxAhoy, Scavenger is a blue perk, and Sleight of Hand is an orange perk. The same thing is kind of (emphasis on "kind of") true in MW3, with the Specialist strike package. In the Specialist strike package, you can choose any three perks of your choosing; first perk at two kills (one with Hardline as an actual perk), second 4 kills (3 w/ Hardline), and 6 kills for the third perk (5 w/ Hardline)...
You want us to use grenade launchers, RPG's, and grenades? Could you at least label on how the community accepts usage of some of these weapons?
It's not their decision to say whether or not they "accept" it, if these weapons are in the game, then they should be allowed to use as much as they want, regardless of what kind of "community" accepts the usage of such weapons!
gavin dodd Well, I look like a dick if I keep using an RPG on soft-targets. Then, I just look like a noob if I use Danger Close with Scav Pro.
I remember the time my brother beat me up for using a riot shield in MW3 he was calling me a fag and a noob and I told him if it's in the game it should be used as much as u want
Richard Wetzel III That's where you are wrong. Somethings aren't meant to be used in some ways, as decided by the community. I.g, hiding in the corner of the map as last man alive, or using an RPG on soft-targets.
***** Let me get this straight, "outsmart your enemies , like flanking"? In a Cod game? A game where nanoseconds decide gunfights and other such bullshit? I was telling him things that generally are disliked by the community, like spamming Rocket Launcher in BF, or ganking in Dark Souls. Also, Blast Shield hasn't been in a game since MW3.
You gotta love how this guy finishes every video with some epic one-liner.
It might as well be:
The RPG will ensure...
*Puts on sunglasses*
They go out with a bang.
YYYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
When he said rpg in Russian at 28 seconds in i was like wtf that's a Shit load lol
oh god! You're so good you make the c4 look useful!
Isis likes this
no shit.
Man these videos just keep getting better and better! Dude you are doing a great job and I really appreciate the work you put in to make these guides so slick! Keep up the good work!
i have almost 42000 kills with the rpg,,choppers are easy at any angle.its luck,,but keep it pointed at the target..took out my first enemy hind today..now they are hard..
blaze it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Darren Mcmullen in bo1 I had 10000 but I reset my stats and when I reset I got unlucky at everything
am now up to 78,332 rpg kills
Darren Mcmullen sick man :) do u use LMGs?
as a secondary weapon yes ,i now have 78,500 rpg kills.
this guy always makes the last line of his videos sound badass
"ruchnoy protivotankovy granatomyot"
I'd rather say Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher....
I really love the RPG for taking out Support Helicopters since they stay low and still
The most noobish class in bo 1: fammas with noob tube
Right
@xxFlameAgsxx He does each series of guns in its own unlocked order and rotates which gun he does next not according directly to when theyre unlocked, but rather on a rotation by class. In other words, because the L96A1 is the third sniper riple and the famas is the fourth or fifth assault rifle, the l96 comes first.
@LukeAlto2007 Actually, direct translation is Ruchnoi- hand held, proteevo-against, tankov- tanks, granata- grenade, mark and sim is 7. So its "hand held anti tank grenade mark 7.
yeah I guess that's a better reason. the main reason it is so effective in my opinion is the lack of lock on alarm for the Huey and Hind meaning the user doesn't start spraying in all directions in the Hueys case or starts dodging in the case of the Hind.
I don't even play this game anymore, it just doesn't keep my attention and I rage too much. But these videos are amazing and I love them, keep up the good work XboxAhoy
"And the RPG will ensure they go out with a bang (click)" Epic man.
This guy knows his stuff keep up the good work Xboxahoy
Can you imagine the trash talking that went on during these matches? Xbox Ahoy armed with an explosive: terrifying.
Thanks for these videos. They are excellent and are the sole reason I recently bought CODBO and the expansion pack on PC. Enjoying it very much so far.
I appreciate you making these videos. I always enjoy them. Thank you.
"the RPG will ensure..."
*puts on sunglasses*
"that they go out with a bang"
ZOMG HIS CATCHFRASES AT TEH END ARE BEASTLY
God that quad in the beginning was amazing! another great guide
Do you get called out when you use RPGs or Grenade Launchers? I can see you are using them quite often and that makes people rage. How do you deal with that?
Keep up the amazing work.
Really, the best part is his one liner at the end.
@FlareDraco Actually, no. The RPG-6 is an anti-tank HAND grenade. The RPG-2 was the last launcher before the RPG-7. He's right.
I just like to say your weapon guide is really helpful
I don't know if you have noticed, but when you try to shoot helicopters, the rocket flies more straight than shootin other people. So I normally need just one round to take downhelicopters
I love how he always has a final killcam for each weapon.
What is that symbol?
My explosive class based on Xbox Ahoy video is:
Primary-commando grenade launcher
Secondary-RPG
Lethal-Semtex
Tactical-flashbang
Equitment-C4
Perks:
Scavenger Pro
Sleight of Hand Pro
Hacker Pro
Try it out! It's great for domination, headquarters, sabotage, and demolition!
YES! I see that you have started to upload the next guide!!
I do enjoy watching his videos, they are rather informative and humorous
I like this weapon's badass appearance because I always used it in
1. CoD4
2. Battlefield Bad Company
3. GTA4
4. MW2
...Any game that features the RPG.
i fucking love these vids, so informational yet still talking about video games at the same time.
I ran into a huge group of people using this weapon today. Thanks XboxAhoy.
It's alright. If your primary runs out of ammo you can't switch quickly to your secondary seeing as the RPG takes a long time to draw. It's good if you think you'll never or almost never need a pistol, or if you can handle without one. But when the flak jacket people come... either run to cover or try shooting them directly (or 2 rockets). By that time they could very well kill you so it's a bargain - your choice.
This has been my secondary for every class this WHOLE prestige, and i testify that it is a fantastic rreplacement for a pistol! I have gotten so many triples and a few quads...
I have no idea why I keep watching your videos; since I've given up on the game.
This guy made me change my mind and I bought a RPG, thanks man, that was very helpful
the RPG is not affected by any counter measure, since it cannot lock on at all unlike the LAW, so attack copters, chopper gunners and gn ships will not release flares when targeted by RPG
First Person To Make A Noobtube Class And Not Get hated By It.That's How Awesome XBoxAhoy Is ^.^
0:23 That was amazing pronunciation!
Watching the black ops weapon guides make me want to get it, is it a good buy?
The "Route sniper tivo'd tank avec renata mute sim" or RPG 7
Thanks RUclips generated subtitles
Can you do an episode each for grenade section? Like one episode for Lethal Grenades, Tactical Grenades, and one for Equipment?
@LostProphet1117 In a nut shell, an RPG IS a rocket-propelled grenade. It was derived from the battlefield, I suspect, as who would learn German/Russian in order to name it correctly, thus rocket-propelled grenade.
XboxAhoy is the ONLY PERSON allowed to use explosives like this.
@acisniper yes, it's a rocket-propelled grenade called the "RPG-7"
@NLBlackname55NL Ruchnoy Protivotankovyy Granatomyot. In Russian but English spelling. it means handheld anti-tank grenade launcher. American's just came up w/ the simpler 'anagram' Rocket Propelled Grenade.
They need to fix that in game, the RPG is unguided yet if it is fired at air support the counter measures will divert the round. The RPG doesn't care about heat signatures which is exactly what a counter measure is, just a bunch of flares.
How could someone possibly dislike this video! There is nothing bad so say about the video!
they should do these weapon analysis's on a realistic game like a battlefield game
You are so awesome, you make me want to play Black Ops everytime!
You deserve every view, like, and subscription you have and will gain. You are a genius!
will be looking forward to the next episode
@MyNameIsntEarl1234 propelled basically means the same thing. And he was telling us how to say Rocket-propelled grenade in Russian, because the USSR developed it
yet again, another well done vid
I can't think of how to end my essay's conclusion, so I'm watching these vids for inspiration
I love ur series! its SO WELL DONE!
Wow, awesome video dude. You've just earned a sub.
@OrlYarly11 I think the law is better imo. Because even tho you have one less rocket , you have to option to either kill Air support or use it in an anti crowd way.
@ThriceDog There was an anti explosive measure in MW2 and it was still useless against the Danger Close t00bs. Considering how overpowered the explosives were in MW2, do we really want a perk that gives your noob tubes a massive kill radius?
Man i love your weapon guide videos...:D
Great stuff, as always!
@nafaidni that'd be really cool, I'd also like to see all lock ons go away, but have it so any rocket will tend to curve toward a vehicle just not permanently magnetize toward it
that was epic
'they will go out with a bang'
0:23 can't stop listening this
do you ever play Black Ops just for fun, without recording or obtaining footage for weapon guides?
0:23 to hear him say RPG over and over again lol!
You were wrong on one thing, it does make a good weapon to run with
ex if your on search in a crowded map.
