    Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal
    Full Highlights
    2002 NBA Playoffs
    Western Conference Finals
    LA Lakers vs Sacramento Kings
    Game 7 - June 2, 2002
    ARCO Arena
    Kobe - 30 pts, 10r, 7a, 2s / 10-26 fg, 2-3 3pt, 8-10 ft
    Shaq - 35 pts, 13r, 2a, 4b / 12-25 fg, 11-15 ft
    Kobe & Shaq had many legendary performances as a duo. This WCF game 7 in Sacramento was arguably their greatest. It was truly the peak of their partnership. The ultimate test presented itself in this series. Lakers’ players and fans seemed to recognize this best of 7 matchup as the toughest amidst the 3-peat. Game 4, down 24 points in the 2nd quarter while trailing the Kings 2-1; then down 3-2, Kobe & Shaq combining for 72 points and 28 rebounds in game 6; lastly game 7, at Arco in Sacramento, posting a combined 65 points, 23 rebounds and 9 assists in the overtime victory. The “challenge,” as Kobe states in locker-room interview, was an opportunity to embrace. This mentality proved successful.
    People talk about a player’s best game, best season. Personally, I like to consider their best shot; the shot that out of all career field goals would be #1, this is subjective. Whether defined as greatest, most memorable, or favorite, the one that sticks with me for Shaquille O’Neal is his 1 dribble right shoulder turn baseline jumper to tie this game at 106. Its arguably the most clutch shot he ever hit. It exemplifies Shaq’s ability to utilize footwork & post up skills, while maintaining composure in what was a high pressure situation. Plenty of players would’ve shown uncertainty in a moment like that, down 2 with a minute and change left in a dynasty-deciding game 7, and perhaps tried to force something at the rim. Shaq resorted to his most reliable go-to move, catching Chris Webber leaning and drilling the short drifter for points 32 and 33. It doesn’t get much better.
    This is one of Kobe’s most underrated performances. 30 points, 10 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals, 2 charges drawn, and 0 turnovers in a Conference Final game 7 on the road. He played 52:33 out of the possible 53 minutes, and likely would have been the full 53 if not for the faulty drawstring. His poise down the stretch was incredible.

      Much appreciated man that means alot 🙏, and soo true. When you mention that i think of the heat in 12 and 13 of recent years having to endure so much. Struggled with both indiana and boston, down 3-2 to celtics. Then 2013 pushed to game 7 ecf, and down 3-2 to spurs then ofcourse ray allen’s 3. Its crazy how some of these championship teams were ridiculously close to losing their whole season but ultimately prevailed. Imagine of Horry misses that 3 the quest for 3 titles in a row is pretty much guaranteed over.

      Great point but I think the reason things happened the way they did was because Shaq never had anyone pass the torch to him. He’s been the man from day 1 in Orlando. It would have been great if he was a little more like Tim Duncan.. but Timmy had David Robinson show him the way. Everything happens for a reason and they both were able to win championships without each other.

    A prime shaq and prime kobe were the best duo ever. In his prime shaq was the most dominant force in the nba. Kobe is the second best shooting guard after mj. Shaq was putting up 35+ points, 20+ rebounds in his sleep in the playoffs during the 3 peat. Kobe could put up 35+ points in his sleep as well. Now if you say who was the best duo as far as chemistry it was probably mj and pippen or Kareem and magic. Jordan could be himself and take as many shots as he wanted. Pippen did everything and chipped in around 20 points per game. Kareem was a scorer and magic was a passer who could get you 25+ points if needed. But a 1 two punch in shaq and kobe was the best ever. If shaq and kobe would of both been mature about their relationship then they would of won 6+ rings together. Kobe cost the lakers the title in 2004 and he even said so. If shaq would of stayed in shape and if he took care of his body and focused only on basketball it would of also made a big difference. In the time after shaq left they would of won another 3 rings from 04 to 2010. If shaq would of of stayed in shape and excepted that kobe was the new batman. But kobe stepped on shaq's feet while shaq was the man still and I believe that that is where more damage occurred. Shaq was still the better player in 2003, 2004, 2005 but kobe was not having it.

      I disagree. Shaq was not the better player in 03,04 and especially not in 05. Anyone with any level of basketball knowledge knows that Kobe after the 01 season going into 02 was the better overall player. He could do a lot more than Shaq to effect the game on both sides of the ball. Shaq was still dominant but nothing much had changed in his game. Kobe's game on the other hand was always getting better and better. Shaq even said in 02 that Kobe was the best player on the planet.

    • @865style

      @@CaliJatt0809 you on drugs?? Kobe was better than shaq after the 2001 season? Lol.

      Rebounds= Shaq: 239
      Assist= kidd: 182
      Best Win Share= Shaq: 3.8
      So Shaq was clearly not only the best player on his team but he was the best player in the league.
      Shaq and kobes 2002 nba finals numbers.
      Points= Shaq: 36.3 Kobe: 26.8
      Rebounds= Shaq: 12.3 Kobe: 5.8
      Assist= Shaq: 3.8 Kobe: 5.3
      Steals= Shaq: 0.5 Kobe: 1.5
      Blocks= Shaq: 2.8 Kobe 0.8
      Shaq averaged 10 more points per game while shooting way better. He averaged 6.5 more rebounds per game and 2 more blocks per game. Kobe averaged only 1.5 more assist per game and 1 more steal. How was kobe better??? Explain lol

    • @865style
      @865style 3 года назад

      Here are the numbers for the 2004 nba finals.
      **note** Shaq led the entire playoffs in win share in the 2004 playoffs at 3.9. Meaning he was the most impactful/ best player in the playoffs. It was better then when he had the highest win shares in 2002 when he won finals mvp and dominated. Please tell me how kobe was better because numbers dont lie.
      Points= Shaq: 26.6 Kobe: 22.6
      Rebounds= Shaq: 10.8 Kobe: 2.8
      Assist= Shaq: 1.6 Kobe: 4.4
      Steals= Shaq: 0.4 Kobe 1.8
      Blocks= Shaq: 0.6 Kobe: 0.6
      Here is the biggest takeaway anyone should think about in these finals. Kobe shot 38% from the field while shaq shot 63%. 25% better!!!! But kobe still took 22.6 shots per game while shaq only took 16.8 shots a game even though shaq was shooting 25% better from the field. If shaq would of took the same amount of shots as kobe he would of averaged 35.7 points per game. The only reason he averaged 22.6 points was because he jacked up 22.6 shots a game lol. If kobe would of took the same shots as shaq at 16.8 he would of averaged 16.8 points in that finals. That's how horrible he was. So 17 points on 17 shots lol. Shaq would of been 36 points on 23 shots. If only kobe didn't ball hog. Kobe himself said that he blew that finals because he didn't pass the ball to shaq nearly enough. Let's see kobe with 23 points on 23 shots or shaq with 23 shots and 36 points?? 13 more points on the same amount of shots. That right there changes those finals. Not hard to see who was better lol. If kobe would of actually passed the ball shaq would of averaged 36 points that finals. Meaning he was still prime shaq and still the best.

      You're only conveniently putting up Shaqs finals numbers against Kobe's. Everyone knows if they actuallly watched the games that Shaq was facing some of the weakest centers in the finals during their 3peat. So of course he was going to have better numbers lol. There's always context to everything and numbers don't always tell the whole story. Shaq was more effective because he was bigger and stronger than his opponents but Kobe was the more skilled basketball player. There's a huge difference between the two and you can't say one player was better than the other because he averaged more points in the finals every year.
