One of my favorite moments from my childhood was sitting down to watch the State of Origin with my Dad and muting the TV so we could listen to Roy & HG commentate live through the radio, it was fkn hilarious every time
Ikr, even if you hated NRL just tune roy and hg in and bam! Funny as fk
I miss them doing the Festival of the boot. They used to commentate the AFL and NRL grand finals. We would always turn the real commentary off and listen to them. They would make up hilarious nicknames for the players.
They're still on ABC radio, search for 'Bludging on the Blindside'

If you can obtain Roy and HG commentating the gymnastics. They will have you in stitches with laughter.
Heard them on an AFL grand final commentary.I had to stop drivng because I was laughing so much.
Along with everybody else recommending the gymnastics, more absolute gold from the legends...

We did have that option, with certain cricket matches and footy games. You'd turn the TV volume down and tune in to Triple J on the radio, 107.5, which is simulcast all around Australia, and listen to their commentary. Howzat?

I loved watching them back then. every night I watched them when the Olympics were on here in Sydney. I also liked to listen to them on the radio doing the State of Origin series NRL and I turned down the tv as their commentary is crap and while watching it with Roy and HG 😂

G'day from Australia 🇦🇺, I watched this most night's. After work, These guys are absolutely hilarious together ❤️. Aussie humour at it finest. On the show the Mascot was Fatso " The fat as#ed wombat" , anyway in the beginning our Australian's wanted to hold Fatso in their photos 📸. But he was banned after 2 seconds. Because it was not an official Olympic Mascot. But I love ❤️ Australia 🇦🇺. I wore a Fatso t shirt like 15 year's until it finally gave up on me. Fatso was the only Olympic Mascot that mattered! ❤.

Apparently the entire Bulgarian weightlifting team were thrown out of the Olympics for related doping offences and the thought was that it was a systematic program that Bulgaria had at the time.
What ? I was in the Bulgarian Women's Weight Lifting team in the 70's.

True story - my old PE teacher went tot he Olympics and was ecstatic because eh beat the Swede - they had their own personal competition ebcause everyone else was from the old Estern Bloc and they both knew they were juiced to the gills - they could never beat those guys so it was jsut the two of them trying to beat each other and sort of laughing about how over the top the others were.
Speaking of funny commentary over a cricket match, you should try to listen to the 12th Man - Wired World of Sports albums from artist Billy Birmingham, an Australian comedian. There's a few that were made through the 80's and 90s, the comedy albums mum and dad definately didn't want you listening too 😂 Absolutely piss funny mate. Aussie comedy gold again. Might not be very politically correct nowadays though, just warning you.
