I love the way Kane Hodder played Jason, but I like how tall Jason was in this movie. The way Derek Mears hovered over his co-stars was terrifying. Also, they guy from Freddy Vs Jason did a pretty good job too.
Seems like a genuinely nice guy. I bet he's been misjudged by many people throughout his life as a result of his appearance (a big, intimidating guy) only to completely shock them with how personable he appears to be. I mean, sure it could just be an act for the camera, but I'm not getting that vibe. Either way, I thought he was excellent as Jason and I thought the reboot was rather faithful to its source material. I'd like to see a new string of films with this guy taking on the hockey mask full time.
I met him he's really cool he's my buddy he is really tall when I first saw him I was surprised I thought it was a regular person but I saw the face and knew who he was! He's my buddy! I love that guy! I want to meet him again because he was so kind to take a picture of with a kid!
People seem to hate this movie for no fucking reason lol. Its literally an OG Friday The 13th movie with a story better than all the Old sequels & Derek playing Jason is scary, agressive. I guess the acting could be better but all the classic movies had the same type of acting...this movie was made very well.

I always liked in the older Jason actors those head tilts and movements where he seemed slightly confused or the little pauses when he's thinking about a situation. Not hard to do no, but it does add to the character. In my mind Jason has always been the hero in his movies. It's like he's aware he's surrounded by forgettable horrible actors in a bad movie and must slaughter them all to save the audience from growing brain tumors. Favorite Jasons have been in the first few movies, but the newest one wasn't bad at all. I liked this guy's Jason and I hope they make more. I NEED MORE!

That he can run and move fast and brutal. And he’s trying to avenge his mother. And just wants to be left alone. He’s the antagonist of the film, but they make most of the cast so delightfully douche bag, that you can’t wait to see them get their comeuppance. So yeah in a weird way he is the hero of the film. And at least it’s reboot, which for my money is the best film in the entire series, understands it’s satire and people are here for the kills from Jason. The neighbor on Elm Street reboot flirted with this idea of him being falsely accused and killed, only to renege on that premise which would’ve made it better, Candyman 2021 did this as well to great affect. I respect what Kane Hodder did with adding physical nuance and mannerisms to Jason, but Derek Mears is by far the best Jason, and takes that characterization through mannerisms and physical acting to a whole nother level.

I'm really glad to see that he gets into his role 100%, because I wanna see some awesome Predator action in 2010 :P he has some big shoes to fill (literally). Big ol' 7'2''Kevin Peter Hall was the master and he studied tribes and things to get into the movement of the Predator, and it turned out great, still the best pred to this day.

What a cool guy...i actually just recently seen this movie and really enjoyed it. Shame they didnt get the chance to continue with multiple sequels since the court battle. Really enjoyed how he played the role the aggressive and faster moving Jason is more realistic and scarier imo.
Many of his kills were recreations from the older movies, like the Arrow pin to the Door kill, etc. And he only kidnapped that one girl because she looked like his mother, he slaughtered everyone else on the spot. Aside from stringing up a corpse here or there as a scream alarm... Something the older Jason movies did. Though the Sleeping Bag Roast was just fucking gnarly.
He was a pretty good Jason, and the remake did a good job linking the first three movies, I would like to see an original brand new Friday the 13th movie with him as Jason. Maybe from one of the novels like Church of the Divine Psychopath or The Jason Strain.
one of the main difference between Jason as a child in this and the 1980 movie is that Jason actually drowned in the original, in this one he's just hiding and doesn't realize how serious the situation is and how worried he's making his mother. Also the original had the first killings take place 1 year after he drowned and even more years pass until the re-opening of the camp, this one had jason's drowning, the killings and beheading all take place the same time.
Yep, there's always been two theories 1st is the super natural one that Jason did actually drown and came back from the dead after Pamela had died. And somehow grew to adult form. 2nd is more realistic, like you said he got washed up on the side and survived in the woods all those years.

Putting a big guy under a mask was exactly what they did in Freddy v Jason, they casted Ken Kirzinger who was the WORST, most still, boring, lifeless, Jason ever. Derick Mears was an incredible Jason Voorhees. He’s my second favorite after Kane Hodder.
Derek brings the human in Jason while Kane brings the monster in jason. Derek's kills are fast & gets straight to the point while Kane's are slow & agonizing Kane just wants stop teens from having unsafe sex while derek just wants stop them from stealing his stash of weed.

Traditionally, Jason is much larger and stronger and has an abundance of supernatural powers to assist him whereas Michael Meyers in the classic sense is a person of moderate built and has invuleerabilities only slightly higher than the human norm. Jason also runs in parts 3 and maybe 4 if I remember right. He moved slower as he became less and less human and didn't need to be fast.
Loved this Friday the 13th when he chasing the football guy from the house to the shed and he's like he's quick rips a hatchet out of a tree stump and throws it at him sticks him straight in the bck . Nice 👌💀
