This was the best finals in history no doubt. most memorable, most fun to watch, and best because it was just the best. Winning after being down 3-1 never happened before in an NBA Finals in the history of the game and probably won’t ever be repeated and if it is that will be decades from now. Lebron going back to Cleveland and fulfilling his promise was a tear jerker. The 52 year nightmare ended right there on that court.

  • @JesseOsher

I WAS AT THE GAME: I’m from Cleveland. There were maybe only 300 Cleveland fans in the whole arena. Why? 4 reasons…1) There were only connecting flights from Cleveland to Oakland/San Francisco (no direct flights). 2) Tickets were INSANELY expensive. 3) If they lost, it would be a VERY depressing flight home…with a connector. 4) They are playing Game 7 in Golden State…the team that had the best record in NBA history. That said, it was a very high risk, high reward scenario. I spent $3,000 for an 18th row ticket. My heart raced the entire game. Didn’t eat and maybe took a sip of water all 48 minutes (severe dry mouth). Fast forward to when Kyrie hit the go-ahead 3 pointer (31:57)…this 65 year old woman, only fan near me, from Cleveland (I never met before) literally pulled an Elaine Benes and pushed me so hard and starting shaking me with complete and utter shock…”Holy sh*t…we may actually win this thing.”…and sure enough….I took a $3000 risk on the greatest NBA game of all time. 😊 PS: My profile pic is me at the game wearing the CLE shirt.

That must've been the most amazingly satisfying experience.
I'm a lifelong Messi fan and part of me debated whether or not to splurge the $10k it'd cost me to scalp a seat, get flights and accommodation for the 2022 World Cup Final but ultimately decided not to. Not because I thought it was too much money or too much bother, but because I adore Messi so much I simply couldn't bear to watch him lose another World Cup Final, all the more so in person. Thankfully he and Argentina did win the final but just watching it on television was brutal; Argentina went up 2-0 in the first half and controlled the game beautifully for 80 of the 90 minutes, only to give up a stupid penalty in the 80th minute and France converted, and then they scored an incredible goal 90 seconds later and less than 2 minutes we went from 2-0 to 2-2 and France now had the clear energy advantage. It went to overtime being incredibly competitive both sides attacking and nearly scoring again and again, and then in the 2nd half of Overtime Messi scores putting Argentina up 3-2 and everybody celebrated assuming he'd just won it for Argentina, his crowning moment in the greatest career of anyone in the sport... Only for Argentina to give up ANOTHER stupid penalty with 4 minutes remaining... Making it 3-3... And in those dying 3-4 minutes both sides went for it with both Goalkeepers making incredible clutch saves and eventually, after 6 goals and 120 minutes of play it all came down to the brutality of penalties. Thankfully Argentina came away the winners but seriously it was the most emotionally draining experience of my life. If I'd had to experience it in person I'd probably have had a heart attack.

I live near Akron Ohio where LeBron grew up. I don’t only look at him as a 3 time champion and NBA Superstar, I look at him as a hero for what he’s done for Akron. He’s created the I promise school for the people that can not afford school, he’s created the Lebron James family foundation for people who can’t afford education, and he’s donated millions of dollars to thousands of different charities. God still to this day I can’t believe the Cavs won. I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio and rooted for the Cavs before these finals and I root for them still till this day. This is one of those games that you remember exactly where you were at, I was at my grandmas house and my eyes were glued to the tv while I sat in front of it on the floor . I remember being so nervous and scared that the Cavs were going to lose again because when they lost in 2015 I was devastated so I knew this year we had to win. I and everyone else watching witnessed history live, but as someone who actually is from Cleveland and suffered the lost throughout the years, seeing them finally win our first championship in any sport since 1964 was amazing. I remember the block, the shot, Kevin Loves defense on Curry, LeBron’s free throw and the sound of the buzzer going off better than the back of my hand. When LeBron had that iconic block on Iguodala I screamed of joy and when Kyrie hit that game winning 3 I started to celebrate but I was still terrified, until we were up by 4 points with 10.6 seconds left of the game. The Warriors had the ball with 10.6 seconds left of the the game and Cleveland was up by 4 it was at that moment I knew the Cavs won their first ever NBA championship. The Cavs were the underdogs and they were going against a 73-9 team, no one though they could’ve came back from a 3-1 lead but as a Cavs fan I knew that the could do it and I believed in them. This game was more than just basketball. This game was history, the first team in NBA history to comeback from a 3-1 lead in the finals, the Cavs first ever NBA championship, Cleveland’s first championship in 52 years and it was the best night of my life. I remember when the clock ran out and the buzzer went off I started to celebrate and jump around, I poured water and beer on me just because how happy I was and I didn’t know what to do. I remember the day after I had to check my phone and see if the Cavs actually won and I was so happy that it wasn’t a dream. To me as a Cavs fan this made LeBron the Goat, he did something no one else ever did. He came back after 4 years and told Ohio that he was going to give us a championship and he sure did. This game made me respect LeBron as a player and person forever and he will always be the GOAT in my eyes. When LeBron left Cleveland in 2018 I wasn’t mad because he gave us a championship like he said he was going to do. In fact when LeBron left I was a big LeBron fan by then and I told my self wherever LeBron goes I go and rooted for him ever since despite he’s not on Cleveland anymore. When Kyrie left Cleveland in 2017 I wasn’t mad because I was great full for what he did for the Cavs and the city and state of Cleveland, Ohio. I also have too much respect for Kyrie and I root for him and his team to this day. Kevin Love is amazing and I will always support him as well. Also I have to thank the Warriors for choking and blowing a 3-1 lead, seriously I really appreciate that. And in wise words of LeBron James “CLEVELAND THIS IS FOR YOU!”

If u look closely, U can see the entire city of Cleveland on his shoulders. U can see the entire state of Ohio on his back. U can see the entire Cavs team in his hands. U can see determination in his eyes. U can see passion and his love for all those things in his heart. This is when he became a man. He won some championships in Miami but that wasn't his defining moment as a man. He didnt create that team. He didnt raise it. He didnt nurture it. It was this Cleveland Cavaliers team that he cherished. This team was his family. He cared about this team and I honestly believe he couldn't have done this on any other team. This was an emotional moment for him and he knew that if the Cavs lost this series, there wouldn't be another chance. He knew that this wasn't just a game. The city itself was at stake. The team, the city, the state, the fans, they all had a unique bond and an unspoken understanding of what needs to be done. It all came together to become one of the greatest moments in the history of sports. Well done, well deserved.

Growing up in Akron, Ohio, I've always been a Cleveland Cavaliers fan. I've always looked up to LeBron as more than just an NBA Superstar. The stuff he does for my comminity. The examples he sets for all the kids coming out of Akron. We all grew up with that "I wanna be like LeBron" mindset because at one point LeBron was just a kid from Akron. So if he made it, why couldn't we? Even when he left Cleveland, I was still a fan of his, but my heart was still with the Cavs. Years and years went by. Cleveland had its ups and downs. In 2011 we drafted Kyrie. Although he left to play for boston, i will never forget him. He's got to be one of my favorite players of all time. All the game winners he's hit, all the crazy shots and ankle breakers hes had, it was just fun to watch him play. Now its 2014, off season and i hear LeBron is coming back with one of the best at the time big men in league and kyrie? We also have a young athletic presence (shumpert) and previous 6th man of the year (JR Smith). I was beyond ecstatic. But by the ens of the season i was pretty heart broken. I noticed the chemistry issues. People didnt wanna play their roles. Kyrie was still that young cocky scorer. Kevin Love still hadnt developed a solid shot. It was hard to watch. Post season came. Love got injured. So it was Kyrie and the king to the finals. Kyrie gets injured so now its just lebron. He put in his best effort but lost... I was so angry. Next season came we got more talents on our team. plenty of new players. Although the cavs had a rough start, we finished the season pretty well. Kyrie and Love were back. We basically swept the competition in the east. Made easy work of them. It was finals time again. Everyone was healthy. I knew this would be fair. Cavs lose the 3 out of the first 4 games. I thought it was over. Why would i even bother watching TV knowing we're gonna lose. Game 5 and 6 we won. There was still hope. I remember watching game 7 surrounded by family. Such a close and contested game. Every shot mattered. So far this series is probably one of the greatest finals series' of all time. In all cateragories of sports. The relentless scoring from the warriors. The beautiful playmaking from the cavs. Everything up to the final minutes of game 7, MATTERED. 3 minutes left both teams are tied 89 and they're exhausted. Miss after miss after miss. It was bad basketball but it was suspenseful. Wondering which team would score next and how the other team would react... Cavs put up an ugly shot and miss. Iggy gets the ball and storms down the court. And i can remember see just lightning in lebron's soles. He ran down the court so fast all i could see was this black blur. Then all you see is the ball fly backwards out of iggys hand and away from the basket. Cavs posession. Another back and fourth fight for the basket. Cavs get it again. Clock winding down. Kyrie has the ball. He sauces curry up a little bit and hits the biggest shot of the series. We did it. The game was over. I knew from that point forward. It didnt matter if golden state got a shot off. We won. I think i cried tears of joy watching that series. This without a doubt is the greatest finals series of ALL TIME.
