If it had moving platters, I would have jumped on this immediately. For now, I think I'll stay with my NS7III just a little longer. Thanks for the peek Bro!
@@lookherejack hello! ..we are all talking about the recently released 4 channel Rane 4. The video link you posted is the 2 channel Rane One released a year and half ago. And it was already mentioned in this video review of Rane 4 @9:10 that there are No Moving Platters!!! Geez... Get current dude... Stop being so full of yourself jumping on everyone calling people troll!! You can count right? Rane 1 is not Rane 4. Go practise counting bars.. 1, 2, 3,4...
I feel same way you do except I love my Rane One & I do wanna buy a Pioneer Rev 7 for my second controller, it got have motorized platters. Your NS7III is still bomb with motorized platters I seen this one DJ's scratch workout with it I was blown away it's still Dope. I'm just waiting to see if they make a standalone with motorized platters
I was apprehensive when I heard the platters were static, coming from a turntablist background, but once I got hands on with the FOUR, my worries went out the window. The platters feel amazing!
Great first look video CT. I'm excited about this controller and look forward to the M version. Sure, it will be a little heavier than most but having an option is always a good thing.
great video and very informative. Hopefully Serato opens up some of the midi mapping capabilities to allow any 4 channel unit to have this ability. My friend Andrej Pecar created a custom XML file for me to do STEM split on a Denon DJ SC Live 4.
I’m very interested in this one as my eternal quest to find a capable successor to the Rane 68. To this day it still bewilders me how the main competing companies will saturate the market with scores of similar products while leaving out some glaring features that either pre-existed or would take little to include. Basic examples : lack of bus powered mixers or standalone controllers for sd/usb key djs. Another is proprietary interfaces & wondering why regular soundcards usually cant be used in place of say, a defunct SL4. No other option seems to exist just for that recently ubiquitous industry standard now discontinued & unsupported. What further confuses me is rendering older products obsolete so the new software hardware connection eventually expires. My issue with this is that the end user will invest in their chosen product, incorporate it into their professional workflow to later be forced out of the workflow with No products to resume function. This is not exclusive to dj tech - I often wonder the same with studio gear & as a result have been holding onto a pick-n-mix of various old tech with various pivotal interfaces (eg scsi, usb 1,2,3 & c, firewire, thunderbolt, pci, smpte, midi etc etc) to retain access to older work, workflows, sonics and the respective infrastructures. This rane four appears to come close-ish to the overall feature set I grew to love & even depend on with the 68. Ultimately I fully recognise that market demand dictates & my requirements are usually more niche by that metric. That said with the steady uptick of new djs & producers I don’t think it infeasible to want a product that delivers more tailored features (or even upgrade path) for the dj producer.
Fantastic work as ALWAYS CT! I think we all know he had to be politically correct while in the presence of RANE employees who gave him the exclusive. We can look for THE REAL Review salute to Flossy Carter LOL 😂 once CT has that jawn in his laboratory. 💯👌🏾 Bottom line, NOT having the platters motorized is a huge knock against the FOUR. If the price is around $2K?! That will definitely be a costly mistake. I love RANE but for $2K 🤷🏽♂️ I’m buying the REV7
Bought the Rane 1 satisfied for the moving platters was the sell for me. Came from a pioneer controller with no moving platters. Looking for a moving platters going forward unless I m heading to the club then I take something light. Surprised the Rane 4 would be this way with no internal fans. If it would came with moving platters Pioneer Rev would had a problem.
I see they built the power supply into it. That’s a win tbh. I still love my s7/12mkiis. So it will be a tough sell but I think it’s closer to my needs than the rev7. I need to find a place I can demo both at some point. Maybe in 2024
So now that the price has been announced, y’all complaining can keep quiet. $1600 is a steal for this controller. Also leave the motorized platters for battle controllers which this is not. The only option I wish this controller had is dual waveforms in the centre screens similar to the rev7. Helps keeps your eyes off the laptop screen.
Love my RANE ONE. I don’t feel like I’m missing ANYTHING at all. Serato STEMS are incredible. Serato FX are nice would have LOVED on board efx. RANE has to nail the price around the DDJ-1000SRT area. If this thing is MORE than the Rane ONE or about the same as the DDJ-REV7!? That will be a LOSS on Rane/inMusic’s behalf 🤷🏽♂️ by pricing themselves out of the market. I’m holding on to my RANE ONE until the MK2 drops.
That’s going to be the big deal, price.. if it’s prices too high I may not go for it.. I’m hoping with the added stems features the price would only be a couple hundred more than the 1000srt.. do you think $1600 is fair?
Is this controller the answer to the Pioneer Rev 7 or the DDJ-1000srt? At first glance I wasn’t sure that I needed 4 channels but seeing how you can use the split stem feature it may not be so bad.. good comprehensive review can’t wait for full review once you get the controller
This looks like everything I want. It'd be a big jump up in size, weight and price from my current entry level controller, so I'll have to do some soul searching, but the features list is perfect.
Looks pretty slick, I'd love to see Rane put out a 4 channel mixer with the same Stems integration. I already have a Reloop RP-8000MK2, a mixer that could do the STEMS shit would be epic. Or a version of this with motorized platters that doesn't cost as much as a used car.
I look forward to trying one out. Hopefully the jogs feel better than the Denon product. I’m curious to know if the Serato audio runs through the mixer or it turns into midi like on the Rane One. I’m not a fan of the xfader shape of the hardware that uses Seratos internal mixer. For me, the REV7 knocked it out of the park so I don’t see myself moving back to Rane, but I love to see new tech anyway!
I love the design and the features.. But I need something where I can perform my tricks and be able to dj. While being portable and easy to setup on stages... If they would only just do 2 versions.. Like the Denon Players... They have the static version and the motorized platter version.. They would kill!!
Please dont keep letting pioneer pass you by.. By checking you out and putting everything people are asking on their products.. I prefer Rane... But they let pioneer kill the 72 with the S11 and then let them kill de Rane One with the Rev 7 Lets ship it out the door with all the bells and whistles!!!!
With all due respect, can someone please explain all this hysteria over the lack of a 4-channel controller with moving platters? The full setup equivalent would be a 4-channel mixer with 4 turntables, you do realize that, right? Who actually needs that for scratching purposes? The only working DJs I’ve ever seen using 4 full decks (turntables or CDJs) are exclusively slow mixing and blending, not doing much scratching at all. So why this fervent need for moving platters when static platters work just fine for mixing? Also, if you really know how to scratch like a boss, you’re telling me you can’t get down here and there on a static platter?
Yeah was wondering the same thing, love my SZ But, think it’s time to up date to something better. Thought about getting the rev7 but I’m not into scratching thing.
I wouldnt care about the non-moving platters if it was a good 20-25% lighter than it actually is^^ Btw. does it have as bad of a cut-in as the rane one? The crossfader cut-in is REALLY bad on the rane one... I mean I love my rane one... BUT even with the sharpest settings on the hardware knob and in the software settings its still massively larger than on my reloop elite Im mostly using or any other mixer I have at home.
This Rane Four controller looks very promising, but this Rane One is still nice. I wonder if you can map a second or add-on controller to do half of these functions keeping the Rane One. Looking at how I can use an Akai AMX or AFX + Rane One to get half of the functionality. I already have the Midi pads mapped for the STEMS pads. Wondering what else I can do. ... I imagine Pioneer can probably make an add-on controller like a DDJ-XP3-SRT
Everything sounded great until. 2 channel inputs only. Rane will wait then do like Denon Prime.. Put out moving platters, more costs. 18lbs is nothing compared to 2 technics tables. Nice video as always. 👍
