We all SO appreciate you & Greg Pat! Please, do take time for yourselves to enjoy one another, enjoy your gardening and your family as much as you are able. Don’t forget to R-E-S-T and be kind to your bodies. Much love Dear One. ♥️🙏🏻❤️
When you put a notice on your blog, "No Video Today", include a link to your You Tube channel. Then people who need a "Pat Sloan fix" can choose an older video that they may be interested in. Yes, I know the link is on your blog, but some people are less computer savvy and need a little help. Great tips on using the pens, I had to learn the hard way. I love the micron pigma pens.
OMG!!!!! Pat IS human!!! I just LOVE seeing and listening to you, but I have wondered how you do this EVERYDAY !!!!!!! I think you are great. You are such a genuine for real person. LOVE 🥰YOU!
❤You Pat.. So Great full for all You have done and all You Do..Please Take Time for You. Take care of You and Greg. SEW We Can Continue to Learn Amazing Quilting from You the Amazing, Genuine , SweetHeart of a Woman that You Are..🙏❤🙏
Pat, you look extra beautiful today . Must be that lovely red top showing off your beautiful complexion! Love red and your studio is one of my favs. We all love and appreciate you my dear.💕💕💕💕💕💕💕🌹🌹🌹🌹😀
Good for you to take a break when you're not feeling well, we all need a break sometimes. I love what you decided for the Unicorn panel and your fabric choice for Norm is perfect. I broke my left wrist a few years ago and thinking I should be doing exercises too. My mom showed me how to do the same kind of label. I always write on it before attaching to the binding, especially if it's a longer message. That way if I make a mistake, I can simply cut out another piece of fabric. Thank you for sharing your ideas with us
I teach a label class and have tested many pens. I really like the Pigma pens because they are acid free and archival quality. Sharpies are not. The Pigma pens will fade if washed many times. They work great for wall hangings and show quilts that may never be washed and I can trust that they don't have chemicals that will be bad for the fabric. Thanks for sharing about pens. I enjoy your videos.
Thank you so much for your explanation about why you wouldn't pick the color purple for the Norm quilt. Helped me a lot. The Ukraine quilt is so beautiful. Someone will truly be blessed when they receive your quilt. Be good to yourself.
Bless your heart! You need to do what you need to do to stay healthy…physically and mentally. Personally, I don’t know how you do all you do. Know that it is appreciated but everyone deserves a ‘sick day’ now and then! You are loved!
Thank you for all the information you share! I have learned so much and try to watch first thing every morning! To be honest… first thing is my coffee…then Pat’s video! Have a lovely day and take care!!
Green, green 💚 The minute I saw the polkadot with green, that was it. I agree with what you said about colors like purple. The eye doesn't flow over the quilt. Like a red light! Also, I think the binding on the Ukraine quilt is perfect- o! Love all you do Pat. Take the day or whatever you need...we treasure you 🤗😁
I agree that if you are not feeling well, take a day or two off! It will give your body a rest to heal and repair. I suffer migraines I am the same way that not every day can I do the things I want to or have to. The blessing is that my husband is now retired and if I can’t do something he sometimes can help me out.
I've just discovered your channel and have learned a lot. I've subscribed and rewatched several videos several times. Sometimes it requires a few takes to get the info down!!! Glad your older videos are available. Seeing your projects and fabrics "here and there" makes me feel like my sewing room is pretty typical.
PAT….I have to be your enabler today…You should try the PENTEL GEL ROLLER FOR FABRIC…I have been using these for years and what I love about them is the tip is way thicker than the Pigma pens which makes it sooooo much easier to write on fabric and you don’t need to use freezer paper or even heat set it. I have posted pics of it on FB group when someone asks what to use to make labels.
This is the one Lynne from Cotton Art Studio recommends, I just couldn’t remember the name of it, to put in the comments myself. I think here in England, especially where I live I’d have to get it from Amazon.
Love all that you do Pat. Info on marking pens was super helpful. Yes, we all know ourselves and know what can make us stall. I love all the new things, too, but, am working on clearing a backlog and looking forward to new starts just for me. Thanks for keeping fabric, patterns, and quilting fun and fabulous 🌈 🌻💜 🦋🦩
I ordered the first day of the sale, and I received my order already. Love all the different FQs. They have such wonderful fabrics, and this sale is one of my favorites.
I am definitely sewing Secret Lives all at once - it is way more efficient to select fabric and cut all at once, and then while I’m there, chain piecing is a breeze!
I have been sewing all of the current color blocks at once for the Secret Lives of Color project. That has worked out really well for me. Pat you make sure and take time out for you and Gregg, everyone needs a day off every once in a while.
I'm so glad you are planning to pace yourself, and I will search for one of your previous videos to watch for my 'fix'!!! They all offer things to learn! I love your choices for Norm; he's going to be so handsome! Now, I'm off to a couple of OH My Stars rather than staying on RUclips today! All the best!
I really like your top today it looks like a fabric print I have. You deserve a holiday and a day off. I would use those days to do recaps of all the great tips you give us. I want to start doing your 2.5” blocks. Light/dark. I also have the same problem of starting something new.
Perfect choice for Norm! ❤️Love your videos Pat. Glad to hear you will be taking time for you. You amaze me at how many things you get done! Thank you for all that you give to all of us.
Definitely use the fabric that makes your heart sing. That is why I quilt…because it brings my life joy. On another thought, I just watched the Martindale quilt show for your newest book, and I am in love with your snowman quilt. Talk about making your heart sing! It is a beautiful, fun quilt that I will be making. Thanks for all you do.💕
I like to iron a piece of freezer paper behind the label fabric to make it more stiff and easier to write on it. The fabric doesn’t bunch up while writing on it.
We appreciate you so much Pat. I am amazed at how much you get done in a small amount of time. You deserve a break! Please take your sick days, (I take the occasional mental health day too). Thank you for all you do for us!
Hi Pat! I really like the black you picked for the little border for Norm! And of course love the dots 😍I took my quilt to our little get together right out of town yesterday to show it off & of course got lots of Ooooh Aaaaahs!! Also one of the ladies brought some give away magazines/books. I immediately grabbed one that was "Fast-Forward Quilts" because of the red & white dots on the quilt on the cover. Went to sit down & turned the pages & there you were!! I didn't even notice your name on the cover 🤣 I squealed "It's Pat Sloan!! And this quilt is from her!!" I'm glad to have yet another book by you 💗
I look forward to see you each day you bring joy into my life. Saying that I want you to take care of yourself if you need a day off please take it. Thank you
Hello, I just finished sorting a massive amount of Christmas fabric from a friend. I think I'll be busy making Christmas quilts for the next few months! I hope you have a fabulous week ahead! Thank you for sharing your video and for your talent.
I have the Bernina software and use that to make all my quilt labels. I can create many different styles of writing and decorations to put on my labels and people seem to like it.
Great choices for Norm. I love polka dots too. Thanks for the info re whip stitching the corners of the binding. Don’t forget to take time for yourself - self care days too (prevention is better than a cure).
Thank you for the freezer paper tip for labels. It sounds like a better option than fine grain sandpaper. Let's finish our Words to Live By together! Because you are an enabler, I am working on a pieced back using the panel.
I couldn’t really comment on yesterdays video, Im one of those that jump to the worse scenario & my mind was wild with what could be going on with your health. I to have had diverticulitis & know something about what your going through & may have to deal with in the near future. I must say you are such a strong positive person. Between the infection & the medication I was so weak I could barely hold my head up. As always you & mr Sloan are in my prayers🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you friend for being you❤️
Love the backing & border on the Ukraine quilt, looks like it's in a block too. Please remind me of fabric line cause I love blue! About today's color, isn't another name for this plant monkey grass? Inspiring vist to the Sloan Zone. I truly APPRECIATE you, Pat Sloan! See you tomorrow!
thank you!! the Ukraine quilt fabric I'm using is listed at the project page go to www.ilovetomakequilts.com/free-quilters-stand-for-ukraine-quilt-drive-fundraiser-for-ukraines-children-.html
Hope you are feeling better. Diverticulitis is no joke, my Grandmother and Uncle had it. Can be extremely painful. You need to take care of yourself and Mr. Greg. We care about you, and will be here when your feeling better. ❤❤
I wish I could do more projects at a time but I can’t start a new one until I finish what I am working on. My mind won’t let me lol. I want it done and finished so I can move on from it. Love your information and please take care!
Pat, a vacation doesn’t have to be a week or two weeks. A vacation (vacay) can be for three days. If you haven’t had a vacation since 2018, you are definitely due for a ‘vacay’. Please try to schedule your much deserved ‘vacay’ ASAP. We so appreciate your consistent videos but it’s time for some time off, don’t you think. From a loyal follower.😊
Hope you and Mr Greg take a vacation. As long as we know you are OK we won’t worry if you don’t post. We are spoiled because you are so consistent 😊👍❤️
I love the fabrics you chose for Norm’s borders. It is perfect! Also, I, too, love that lighter border on the Ukrainian star quilt. I have all the blocks cut for my ‘Words to Remember’ quilt. They are going with me to a quilt retreat in July. Loved seeing your blocks on the wall. Thank you.
I found one of those "to be completed " projects it was from 2007 Mcalls quilting magazine and there you were talking about the color pink gave me a smile!
One of the things I’ve done to help prevent creative/sewing stalling is that I’ve made a list of blocks I want to make and techniques that I want to try. I’ve given myself permission to make just one block/small project and that it’s okay to not like it. That way I’m not starting huge projects that I end up disliking and put off for ages. If I’m not feeling like sewing one of my wip then I look at the list to see if anything feels more interesting.
Thanks for sharing I enjoy you coming in n being with us but yes if you are sick or need time off please fill free to do that you are human as well yes we will miss you but you need to take care of you you come first always have a great day
Diverticulitis is an inflammatory bowel disease. Usually in the lower part of the large bowel. Little “pockets” develop in the wall of the bowel and faeces can get trapped in these pockets which can ,over time, cause infection. So common as we get older. Easily manages so no panicking
I totally understand "The Stall." Happens to me all the time. Am working on not starting something new until there is something else finished. It is VERY difficult.
Pat I'm still trying to finish the Winter Solstice and I just can't bring myself to finishing it. Even though it's a beautiful quilt. I will finish it. 😀
Pat, I have used the Sharpie before and it faded every time. It said permanent. I use the pigma now at 01. I will try 08 and see how it does. Thanks for the evaluation.
Just a recommendation... I've been rattling around youtube for a decade or more & only recently found out that viewers can search in the creators page - maybe a tutorial like you did on your page - for those who want content when you are not providing it. (I'm still gradually "catching up" so I will find a fabric line, book, or sewalong and search that & watch the content that youtube generates on that specific subject.)
Of course we will wonder where you are if you miss a video.....but you need to take care of yourself!!!! I don't know how you guys sew all day - I sat on Saturday to make a table runner and ended up with a horrible back ache - guess I won't be sitting/standing/sewing/crafting all day every day.........I'll have to remember to take breaks.
for accuracy, always measure your top, cut the border to fit. You may find your top is not the same size on both sides, so fix it before adding borders

Hello to all from California, this is an amazing group ❤️
Good morning from Little Rock Arkansas I usually only watch the replay fun to see the chatting

Now I remember the Martingale book name “Holiday Hoopla”.
They did a video trunk show of your quilts in this new book coming out soon.

Love Norm the Gnome - it's going to be a great quilt 🤩
Good morning from Florida.
Really like your choices for Norm. He will like it too!

Thank you 😊
Love your program, you seem to know what we need each time. Sending love your way, Jessie Jewell
I had diverticulitis too. Very Painful but it doesn’t mean it will always comeback. Let’s hope!
Good morning from NE Illinois!
I love your choice for the Norm borders - makes my heart sing too!
I really like the choices you made for Norm!
Thank you for explaining why you stitch the corner of the binding down by hand. Enjoy your videos

For Secret Lives of Color, I’ve been sewing 3 blocks at a time. Reading the chapters as we go along.

I’m back from a short vacation to Georgia. It was hotter there than in Orlando!

I didn’t realize the numbers on the pigma pens were about the tip size I thought it was a color # good to know. Always learning from you.
great for norman
Thanks, Pat! Love the heliotrope color! I need to get this book💜

Pat I'm still trying to finish the Winter Solstice and I just can't bring myself to finishing it. Even though it's a beautiful quilt. I will finish it. 😀
I use the pigma pen. I find it writes better if I just put a little extra fabric behind it to make a little cushion for the tip of the pen.
TFS the tips on the sharpie vs Pigma pens! I think my concern would be if they bleed thru on the backside of the label...
The Ukraine quilt is beautiful.❤️🪡🧵❤️
thank you!
Pat, I have used the Sharpie before and it faded every time. It said permanent. I use the pigma now at 01. I will try 08 and see how it does. Thanks for the evaluation.
I ordered your new book from Amazon yesterday. I cannot wait to get it!
New things are the most fun.....so that is why fi ished Tops far outnumber what feel like quilting!

I use Viking to make my labels
It is very understandable to you missing one or few days. We depend on you each and everyday but you are allowed to live your life.
Would you consider doing a label on your printer? Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your process and stalls etc. it helps me alot!
I don't use my printer as it is wax ink, totally won't work
Hey Norm! I missed you yesterday😂😂
A question for FAQs: when making borders, do you measure and cut before applying, or do you sew it on and then cut to length?
for accuracy, always measure your top, cut the border to fit. You may find your top is not the same size on both sides, so fix it before adding borders
Do you need to heat set the writing on the labels with pigma or sharpie so it doesn't wash out?
please take care of yourself! yes take a vacation!
