Making sub 20 look like a breeze, great work as always 🔥🔥
Your son is becoming an absolute animal Stephen.
Great run by yourself also.
@@Merritt7278 haha thanks Marc. He’s doing ok yes!
Congratulations great run , nice decent wide start
Thanks Alan. Yes it's a very easy parkrun. All tarmac, wide path and no navigation issues.
The 250th needs to be a live event 😂
@@BDamen1984 ooooooh!!
Great time,well done
Thank you Peter. Much appreciated
You briefly caught my friend there who had come down from Barnsley on the day to run his 500th parkrun. Finished in 18.51 I believe.
Aaaah they mentioned him at the start and I wanted to find him at the end to interview him but didn't see him.
Well done. 250 next 👍🎉
Yup 250 at the weekend. Thanks for watching
WOW....sub 20 mins .... and filming... thats sooo amazing.... id love to know what you eat :) maybe an idea for a video ! U are what u eat :) M ☘️
Thank you so much for your comment. I don't eat anything specific.Just and keep a balanced diet. Today, before this run I just had a coffee.
He eats miles, and lots of them!
@ChairmanAntelope I'll try the coffee then :) sub 20 is amazing 👏
you made it look easy, nice job
Cheers John. Didn't feel easy, but these things never do!! haha. Thanks so much for watching
I'll be in berlin this weekend for the marathon so no park run for me 😅 well done though
Yes I'm away this coming weekend too, so my 250th will have to wait.
Great run😀. Well done for getting under 20mins👏👏. What age percentage does this give you?
@@Wheresdools thank you. Age grading is just over 77%. Still only a Regional Level performance but I’ll take it
@@FilmMyRun Brilliant 😀….. I’m at 68%, but would like to get 70% before I kick the bucket! Lol
Regarding the title of this video... "Chasing sub-20...", perhaps a little background would be helpful? How old are you? What's your running background? Etc.
Apologies if you had done other videos that answer these questions, but I didn't see them on the homepage of your channel.
@@robws007 hi Rob, thanks for asking. I’m still a spring chicken at only 54. Been running for a few years. PB is under 20 for 5k but not very fit at the moment so trying to get back on it. What’s your story?
@@FilmMyRun were you a competitive runner when you were younger?
I'm a little less springy at 61 and I really didn't run between my early twenties (rugby & sprinting at uni) and a few months before I turned 50, thinking a 10K would be a good way to mark that milestone. I ran a handful of 10Ks in my early 50s, then got side-tracked by various injuries and an osteoarthritic hip. After a PRP injection and committing to working with a coach a couple of years ago, I've entered a few ParkRuns and a couple of masters track events, running the 400m. I've chipped my time down from 26-high to 24-mid, so the goal is to keep going (23, 22, 21...?) and it's inspiring to see other old farts still at it.
The trouble is my 10 year-old boy now has a ParkRun PB 36 sec faster than me and is only 3 seconds slower in the 400m!!!
Running 5km has now become something 'worth' posting on RUclips. Why drive somewhere to run 5km? And you did a 2km warm-up for a 5km race? Almost half the race distance. The silliness of social media.
@@johnandrews8590 Thanks John. So, actually it’s probably better to do nearer a 3km warm up to get your body fully ready for a hard 5km effort. Driving to events is pretty standard I’d say. Nothing weird about that and especially if you’re completing a fun challenge like I am (parkrun alphabet). And whether something is ‘worth’ posting on RUclips is of course debatable. Plenty of people have watched the video and it will generate some revenue for me so, seeing as this is my job then it’s worth it for me. If people find the video entertaining then it’s worth it for them. It doesn’t sound like it was worth it for you, but of course you have a choice to watch or not. There’s probably a lot less worthy stuff than this on RUclips. Thanks for your comments and I hope I have addressed some of your concerns. Let’s look at the glass as half full from this point forward though shall we. Have a great day.
John, I am not on social media, I am not on Facebook, Insta, Twitter etc. You won’t even find me on Strava, but my results are on RunBritain. I travel to races, whether it’s 5k, 10k, half… I would like to travel to some overseas races in interesting places. Why not? For the fun of it. The shorter the distance, the longer the warm up should be, because you need to be faster right from the start. A 2.5k warm up sounds about right, plus I would do strides with that and some activation stretches. So the actual warm up routine takes longer than the race itself. Is that silly? It’s called being a runner.
