- The Young Environmentalists Programme Trust partnered with Extreme Hangout at COP 29 to amplify the critical role of oceans in combating climate change. Together, they hosted vibrant discussions and interactive sessions, bringing diverse voices-youth leaders, policymakers, and marine conservationists-onto one platform. The collaboration emphasized that Island Innovation, led by James Ellsmoor, is uniting islands worldwide to advance climate action and resilience for island communities. The partnership highlighted how oceans regulate climate, absorb carbon dioxide, and sustain biodiversity, making their protection essential to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 14. The event showcased innovative ocean literacy initiatives, practical solutions for marine conservation, and stories of action from global youth. By fostering cross-sector dialogue, it encouraged a united front in tackling climate issues, proving that collective action is the foundation of effective climate solutions. The collaboration inspired new partnerships and motivated participants to adopt ocean-positive policies and behaviors. The joint efforts demonstrated how engaging and empowering young changemakers leads to impactful advocacy. Together, they underscored that protecting oceans is not a choice but a global responsibility. The event concluded by highlighting the leadership of Tanya Satish, Youth Ambassador of the Young Environmentalists Programme, who is advancing ocean literacy among young people, enhancing their knowledge and driving action for a sustainable ocean future.
