He was one of my teachers in photography school, and he was a really fun and cool guy. one of our lessons was literally using home depot fluorescent lighting. In one of his demonstrations he also made an entire wall out of soft boxes.
I never buy a photography book, I never accept sample pictures to get inspired from, I never got a photography course and i thought I was the only one who doesn't o all that until I saw this video. Greg, thanks for making me feel normal again :-)
I think his advice is geared more towards professionals. I think a student can benefit from learning techniques and copying the works of the masters. Then when you get a firm grounding in "techniques", you can break them and create your own techniques.
