Feel like Rev'It over the last 5 years continues to cut corners and increase pricing. I have 5 of their jackets and every new release I'm more and more pushed away from their products. I could understand if they're a small company but they're a massive textile company in the motorcycle industry. Sort of a bummer.
@@xzouix I don't think it's cutting corners design wise, I think they understand design/function for the masses; they aren't the most beautiful designer. It's more of cheaping out on features/fabric, they include a thermal liner but it's a joke, they don't use waterproof main zippers on a waterproof jacket as they expect the gusset to do the work and we all know gussets fail in windy environments. Their gloves have drastically reduced in palm protection to cut costs and reduce use of material. Last two jackets I've acquired from them have both been returned twice due to build quality issues, specifically the threading used breaks down in a year and seems start coming apart. They're a good brand if staying within mid and lower price but when you start pushing $350+ I don't think they compete strongly in higher price brackets.
@@Dr_Skot Features are something that could differ as the price of the product rises. But yea, when seams start coming apart, then the product is no good for no "price tier". Quality tailoring and materials are the bottom line. (-should be). Especially when it comes to protective clothing.
@@Dr_Skot Funny you should bring this up: about five months ago I replaced a relatively-old REV'IT! touring jacket that survived two crashes (and started showing it). Went to the Zilla's Brooklyn store (highly recommend it for anyone in the area, or at least somewhat close), and tried lots of things on: it wasn't that REV'IT!'s stuff was *bad* , just not what I thought it was based on the old jacket I had. Mind you, buying a "cold" three-season jacket (late-Fall-to early-Spring) isn't easy, since you're asking the thing to do a bunch of things, some of them contradictoriy, but in the end, the only jacket that came close was Scorpion's EXO Optima; at half the price of the Montana, about the only thing missing is the hoodie option…but, seriously, the last time I rode wearing a hoodie, I hated it - no matter how tightly I cinched the damned thing, it still felt like a miniature drag chute…wrapped 'round my neck.
Your rides getting a bit chilly? Grab the REV'IT! Montana H2O Jacket here! rvz.la/3Fzah1e
Nice review looking for a jacket because going to ride my Forza 125 2023 soon so wich is a better buy Montana H20 or the Afterburn H20 ?

Cut corners in getting minimalist in design? Or is it anything else you have noticed? I am curious as a rider/consumer & as a designer too.

It keeps out the code? Is it a matrix jacket?
Why not wear whatever thermal you want as your destination thermal??
which is the warmer jacket this or the afterburner jacket?
Pat does look adorable
Damn right, Auston.
