Crazy creative 🤪 crazytivity?! You weren't kidding, made an instrument with a multi tool, is this for real? I know I had a drink, but I'm sure this is not a dream!!
Thanks for watching. I also want to try a Swiss Army Ukulele. But I need a tool that cuts metal cotter pins. Maybe it would have to use wooden frets...
Just lovely. I've never played an ukelele, but I'd love to build me one. I do play the guitar and a bit of "charango" (you probably know that instrument, if not, just Google it). Thanks for the inspiration. Greetings from Argentina!
@@CircuitsAndStrings For sure! :D Making a list of all I need right now! I'd tried to make a ukulele before but unfortunately the neck wasn't well enough secured and the string tension made it come off and it wasn't really fixable, so this will be try n°2!
For concert scale, I'd only have to make a longer neck right? I know I have to keep the nut to 12th and 12th to bridge equal and I'm not sure how else I'd adjust it. I usually make cookie tin ukes for fun, but I've cheated and bought really cheap ukes and cut off the necks. I just love this one and I've always wanted a travel uke like this. I only have a few hand tools to this is great.
You are on the right track. To make a concert scale length, add 1.5 inches to the neck. Then you will have to calculate the fret positions for a 15 inch scale length. www.stewmac.com/FretCalculator
You can get the Leatherman Super Tool 300 on Amazon. The intro song is called Lafayette Lilt. circuitsandstrings.wordpress.com/2013/01/18/lafayette-lilt-tutorial/
Any tool with a awl, saw, knife, wire cutters, and possibly a file would work. Here’s one for $20. BIBURY Multitool Pliers, 21-in-1 Multi-Purpose Pocket Knife Pliers Kit a.co/d/0L48Y55
I’ve made a bunch of this style of ukulele with a single piece of wood. But doing that requires more elaborate tools. ruclips.net/video/enNepO55D9I/видео.html
Awesome work! Love to see the whole process.
Thanks for sharing my pictures on Facebook and Instagram. 😀
Such gold, a real inspiration for those who don't have a full shed of tools and still want to tinker.
I know a lot of people want to build , but it's hard to get the tools. I hope that this is a helpful video.
@@CircuitsAndStrings Add on a Piezo Pickup. Can you also use a Guitar Pick?
I love how easy this is to make! It sounds great despite that it doesn’t have a proper soundbox, let alone basically no soundbox.
It was a fun project. And it sounds pretty good considering it was made with cheap wood from a home improvement store.

Finally!! I've found something like this ,making some ukalele without using machines ❤️thank you
Thank you for watching. 🙂
Sounds great 👍 and one of the best things to do during lockdown!
ABB is my motto. Always Be Building. :)
I’m surprised by the amount of volume without a traditional soundboard!
I am surprised too. Of course it's not super loud, but it fine for personal practice.
Wow…just wow!
Thanks for checking it out. It was fun to design and make.
Fantastic!!! I think I would like to try to build a cigar box guitar the same way.
It is a fun challenge that gets you thinking about alternative ways to do stuff. Plus you already have a Leatheman. :)
Bravo, great video! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for checking it out. 🙏
Fantastic, I love it, sound is so good
Thanks for watching!
Just ............. WOW
Thanks for checking it out. It was a fun project.
It's amazing what you can do with a Leatherman.

I've used glued flat toothpicks.
Good idea.

Love your videos!
Thanks for stopping by!
That is awesome! It even plays Beethoven!
yes, it is a very cultured ukulele. :)

Excellent. I think you would have fun building a ukulele like this.
I actually have a Mexican charango. The body is made with an armadillo shell.
Really useful video ! I might try and make it when lockdown is over
It’s a fun project. 😊

@@CircuitsAndStrings wow you noticed me ❤️❤️❤️ thanks for vids i love it so much sir
Sweet ukelele! Very inspiring video!
Thanks for checking it out. 🙏
Cool
Thanks for watching!
I skipped ahead some to finished product but 👍🏼!
Thanks for checking it out.
Can i ask you sir what is the size of the hole you used in your tunning pegs,
That will depend on what kind of friction tuning machine you are using. I just kept using the awl until the hole was the right size.
@@CircuitsAndStrings thank you sir!
Espero poder hacerlo
Buena suerte. ¡Creo en ti!
Can we build bass ukulele with same way?
Yes, this idea could be modified to make a bass ukulele. You would need a longer and wider neck.
always be my idol 👍
Thanks!
Where could I buy that multi tool also how do you play the intro to your vids

Faça um cavaquinho pra min assim.
How many strings does a cavaquinho have?
What are the songs you are playing?
The first is an unnamed tune I wrote, the second is Lafayette Lilt, and the third is Fur Elise by Beethoven
As a 13 year old I don't think I can afford the Leatherman super tool 300 do you know if there is any other multi tool I could get for cheaper ?
Any tool with a awl, saw, knife, wire cutters, and possibly a file would work.
Here’s one for $20.

@@CircuitsAndStrings thanks for the tool also why does Lafayette lift sound different for me?
Do you have your ukulele tuned high g or low g? This song is usually done on a high g.
@@CircuitsAndStrings high g
I’m not sure without hearing how you play it.
Would this work in one piece? :)
I’ve made a bunch of this style of ukulele with a single piece of wood. But doing that requires more elaborate tools.

@@CircuitsAndStrings Thanks!
Cool! Nice to know that I could build this with the limited tools I have on hand. How have the super glued frets held up so far?
So far, no problems with the super glued frets. But I honestly haven’t played it a ton. But I don’t anticipate having issues down the road.
What kind of wood did you use ?
All of the wood is poplar.
CircuitsAndStrings Hi, thanks for your reply and for sharing all of your great work with us !
Let me know if you have any more questions.
I had that same multitool but I broke it when I was 16 by using it like a dumbass.
Oh man. That’s sad.
