  • Finally got round to fixing the low coolant message, took a little to discover the issue but was worth it the end and hopefully will help other diagnose their problems. Though I am working on a 2013 this will apply to other years as well.

    Great video ! I've been having this problem for a few months even though the coolant is at its correct level. This explains a lot, which I'll try to rectify myself rather than take it to Vauxhall to be charged the earth to fix it! so thank you once again for the video .

    Can you still drive with this issue? Mine has the same if not a similar issue. Just had the cam belt done so I thought it was an air lock, but the garage have drained the coolant and the problem is still there, I will ask to get this changed, but can I still drive it?

      Well as long as there is coolant in the expansion tank, and the car is not overheating, it should be ok. The coolant level sensor it’s a warning in case the tank is low but if you know it’s faulty and the coolant is fine, then it should be ok. Just my opinion according to your comment, hope it helps.

      I currently have this issue and had to call out the RAC as my car went into limp mode. Eventually as the problem persisted, the ecu shut the car into limp mode. I have an Astra J 1.6 petrol. My coolant levels were perfectly fine, just the car had a meltdown 🤣

    Can I use(HOAT) G12++ or G13 coolant for my Astra J,1.4 turbo?I know that GM recommends only GM Dexcool(yellow rubish) or only in "emergancy" OAT G12+ with no silicates at all.. VW also used no silicates in G12(G12+)and now they found the newest G12++ and G13 (HOAT) coolants with a little bit of silicates.This are top and latest types of coolants.Why is Opel or GM then so stubbornly..

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  Год назад

      its an older car but tap water will corrode the block and cylinder head and freeze in winter, G13 should be fine.

      I think you could just call the dealership as someone commented that they bought one for around the same price I paid. I bought mine from eBay, just look on eBay there are plenty of options, and you can ask them what the tanks comes with to make sure you get what you need..
