I’ve had a ukulele for years and never picked it up in fear of sounding bad or if people were going to laugh at me..even on days when I was alone I still didn’t pick it up. just today did I get a fun go at it after some learning on pumped up kicks. Its almost like a dance but with your hands😇 and it’s amazing people have made their own music!

I had been trying to tech myself ukulele around this time last year, but after I lost my fiance, my motivation to do anything with music was really lost as well. A couple months ago, I decided to start training my voice again, and more recently decided that I wanted to dress as Steven Universe for Halloween this year. I thought it would be awesome to go around in character, playing my ukulele and singing.

The fact that steven was 14 playing this.. technically writing this.. I love that
I have been practicing this song just from the cords Rebecca Sugar posted and a video of her playing it for like a month. My major obsticle so far is changing to and from 2 of the cords. This tutorial reminded me to slow down and not worry about strumming pattern until I have the cord transition. This is my favorite Steven Universe song so far. Thank you for putting it up.
Just a heads up, Steven Universe while it remains great, does touch on several darker topics as it progresses.
I’m glad that you slowed down! And thanks for the heads up! I haven’t watched too much and have sort of jumped around a bit too in the episodes.
@@CoryTeachesMusic Most of the eppisodes are made to work jumped around, but there is an overarching story line and plot. Also the Steven Universe Future is after the movie, and contains quite a bit of spoilers, granted depending on what eppisodes you have seen you may know some of the secrets that Steven doesn't learn until very late in the show. Future has every fan quaking in their boots (we are getting the final 10 eppisodes next month), but up until Future, Steven does maintain his general attitude of trying to work out problems with the least amount of violence as possible.
I’ve only watched up through the 3rd season (or whatever they have on Hulu) I didn’t even know there was a movie until recently. Haven’t seen it yet. Plan on trying to get to it soon though.
@@CoryTeachesMusic there is great music in the movie. If you have only seen 3 seasons, I recomend waiting to watch the movie, if you want the full effect of the huge reveals that happen in the last season before the movie. Mainly I recomend it simply because of the delivery method Rebecca Sugar and her crew used. You will notice many of the things you overlooked, starting all the way back to eppisode 1.

This is a good tutorial, I just have one complaint. In most tutorials (and I find it very helpful) theres a slower play along version to get you used to the order that the chords are in. I'm having to pause and rewind this every time I need to figure out my next chord because it's so fast. :< Thank you for this tutorial though! It's still helpful.
You can use the video options to slow down the video! That or I suggest modifying the strumming pattern and building up to it over time too!
Are you allowed to make a pdf/image of the whole song? Not sure if you could charge because copyright but it would be so useful if possible. Also, I'm requesting Something Entirely New (woo pride month) or Stronger Than You (BLM!) And both are BANGERS on the uke.
I can take a look at those songs. Stronger than you is especially a great song! As for the lead sheets I’m actually working on making those Accessible on something like patreon, but I’m not done with them yet. (I have like 70ish complete, and about 30 or so yet to finish) when they are available I’ll make sure to announce it :)
Can I play this on a gutairalele? (Gutair ukelele mix) that’s all I have
The chord will just need the fingering for that instrument. What’s the tuning?

Yes, but while the chords are the same the diagrams won’t work for a guitar. If you happen to know those chords on guitar it’ll be fine though :)
The ukulele is tuned like the D G B and e string on the 5th fret on guitar. So basically barring These chords or using a Capo will help

Hi! I have a video coming out on Friday that is all about barre chords and B7 is one of them!!
It's all about the thumb. You could be pushing as hard as you can with your finger but unless your thumb is steady and pushing too you won't get the clear sound

Yup. That one is tricky! Keep practice a little at a time and you’ll get it!!

Yeah. It’s a bit more challenging (actually quite a few from Steven Universe are) but keep practicing and work up to it! Use it as something to work towards!
