When I kit up - I kit up everything. If you are an avid stitcher, you will most likely use all your floss. When I get ready to stitch my project, I don't want to hunt for the floss in another project bag, I don't want to have to put it aside because I need to order the floss, etc. I think it helps a lot if you only use "fancy" floss when it will absolutely make a difference and use DMC for everything else. I have a master set of DMC and when I pull a skein for a project, I immediately order a replacement for the master set. And, I am with you on the temperatures of 45 to 65. I want it to be cool enough in the day that I need a sweater and cold enough at night that I need my quilt.
I kit up my projects with both floss and fabric. I keep track of which projects I have on my iPad. I working on getting floss put together on cards to organize and know what I have available to use. Thanks for a fun flosstube!
Hey, y’all! I really enjoyed the kit parade, and saw several charts that were tempting, (Christmas At Hollyberry Farm) and one or two that I already have in my stash (Hallow Day Inn)! Callie, I am like you…I get anxiety about kitting, and I am so happy you mentioned the floss rack…that might be just what I need! And it would be so easy to find substitutions for called-for flosses that way, too. Christy, thanks for mentioning Grace Notes Fabric Club…they do such pretty fabrics, but I didn’t know the offered a subscription. 😊 Happy stitching until our next visit! Meline
I enjoyed your kit parade. I do kit my floss when I kit my projects but keep track of what floss I have on a chart. At the moment I kitted up Sew Happy by Lori Holt. I’m so anxious to finish it for my sewing room. Christy, I’m a New Englander living in Nashville and I got a chuckle out of your attempt at a New England accent. It wasn’t a bad job, pretty good I must say!! Looking forward to your next floss tube. 💖
I agree with Callie! I have a floss tree too! Instead of putting my floss in the bag that may sit there! I put the bundle the kitted floss and tag the ring as to what project it belongs to. If I “borrow” from the kit I put a empty floss spool tag on i the ring and write the color on that is missing for that kit. . I have saved so much money that way! And cut down on duplicates! I may not get to that kit for a year but at least I know in a year what I need to replenish to start that chart. It works for me.
Hi Ladies, another wonderful video w lots of laughs. I put fabri and floss in my kitted ones. If I need thread, I just buy more 😅. Your kit parade was fabulous! Thanks for all you both do. ❤❤
You two are such a hoot!!! I agree with Callie. We tend to stay with our favorites, and I, too, love Brenda. Thanks for another entertaining flosstube!
I kit up each project with the floss in it that is needed, then after stitching try to find a place to keep it in my insane amount of stash. Lol. But, the stash is handy when I am kitting things up!
The DMC wooden cabinet for every color of regular floss is the ONLY way to go for me. Thirty years ago when I became a heavy duty stitcher, I thought bobbinating was a good idea, but the faster those skeins started walking into my house and breeding with one another, the more I saw how big a time waster it was to wind those things. Now, specialty threads are a different matter. I have several colossal rats' nests. I desperately need to crawl out of those! Thinking about your floss tree. Thank you mightily for showing it.😊
Oh my gosh, you always crack me up. I try not to have a lot of WIPS, but, ya know, life happens. And man StitchFest hit!!! Couldn't help myself. More patterns coming!!! Callie, the Tattoo Stitcher is doing the "A Study In Nature" It is stunning. I can't wait for you to start. ❤❤
Calli, I totally get you with your floss dilemma. I just finished strength and dignity and I have a ton of floss. Sometimes you’re just using a thread or two of that color. Love the video! As always, you two make me laugh.
I usually kit up fabric and floss, but since I’m mostly a monogamous stitcher, you know how long they will sit. Since I mostly use DMC, I will kit up with floss, but if I’m planning to use my favorite overdyed ( Colour and Cotton or Roxy Floss Co) I’m usually ready to stitch when I get those out. Too many kits, so little time!
Callie, I totally get where you’re coming from. I live where there is not even a DMC quick grab. It’s like 45 minutes to Walmart from my house. The nearest hobby lobby is hours away. So I tend to “kit” by putting my prepped fabric and the chart in a bag. I like to keep all my floss organized and together so I know what I have, just in case. With few exceptions, don’t gather floss for a project until I’m ready to start. This is what works best for me.
Love you both!!!! I am kittingnup Sheep Virtues and Sheep in the meadow (2 different designers) and will put the Sheep in the meadow in the middle and the 12 Sheep virtues around it. I have over 200 wisps (works in slow progress) 😅 and kit yp each item separately. Sometimes a small project will only need a bit of a colour and I will make a floss card with all the threads cut and numbered. I have a few HAEDS and they have their own floss box. I buy 1 of each colour and buy as needed. I don't worry about matching dye lots as they have tons of confetti. I look forward to seeing your videos. Hi from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
I’m with you, Callie! I love anything Brenda Gervais designs, and I just keep waiting for Blackbird’s initial public offering to show up on the Dow Jones, because I might as well buy some stock! As for keeping track of floss … I have everything organized, and if I go to the DMC’s and it’s not there, I buy it (again?), because tracking it down isn’t worth my time. If it’s fancy floss, I’ll go looking through the things I have kitted up, and when I find it, I leave a note in that kit that tells me what other project I borrowed it for; kind of like checking out a book at the library. If I only have a little bit of it, I’ll order a second one. Once you get your floss on your tree, make yourself some little “library cards,” so when you take one off, put the card in its place with the color name/number and the name of the chart you borrowed it for. It doesn’t have to be fancy…just a hole-punched index card would work. I’m looking forward to seeing all those kitted projects stitched up by both of you! 😅 That was a lot of fun! See you next time! ❤❤
Always love the banter between you ladies and the love you display for each other. I laughed out loud at so many of your comments. Thanks for sharing your day with us.
Hi ladies! Love to you both! I do kit up my projects with all the floss needed but I usually do the DMC conversion when it calls for fancy floss so I don't have so much money tied up in floss in a kittted up project that I might not get to for a while. I do use fancy floss when the stitching needs some variegation but I do not like stitching one X at a time with fancy floss. My stitches do not lay as pretty when I stitch one X at a time.
You both have some beautiful charts listed up. I do like Brenda Gervais charts and have several that you do. The good thing about her charts there are a lot of them that use the same flosses. I do have some charts kitted up with the floss. But I am now trying to put everything in a an excel spreadsheet so the floss is easier to find and I know better what I already have.
I kit up with the floss. Over dyed color lots change and then this way it will match. Also this way I will have enough for each project. Love watching you ladies.
Enjoyed your kit show today … y’all are so funny and I love every minute with you … I wish we lived closer together so I could get in the fun of stitching together … until next time Happy Stitching 🧵 …😊❤ Dena
I cuss and swear a lot because I “never have” the floss or fabric I need to start my projects. I am that way with my Primrose Cottage kits. I have them all kitted up and they are screaming at me to start them all! 🪡🧵❤ I love your floss tubes by the way. You all keep it real!
I just loved this video. You two are sooo entertaining!!! I agree with Callie on the projects kitted with floss , I want to unkit my projects that have overdyed floss I dont want to have all that floss just sitting there! I haven't figured out a storage plan for this though. Keep on Just love you two!
This was my kind of parade, thank you! I am struggling with having so much fancy floss in project bags, I am looking for a better solution than buying all the threads for each project I kit. Janine
Callie, I love the gray. One of the best decisions I ever made was to let my hair go gray. I'm so glad I don't have to color it anymore. Enjoyed the video!
When I had my Annie's Keepers system I just hung the floss rods in a bankers box and used it from there. If I went out somewhere I put what I needed on a ring, but otherwise I just kept the tote within reach of my chair and used from that, no matter the project. Now I just stick to one project at a time because I don't have space for a lot of WiPs. I can't stand having a ton of same colour skeins hanging about.
I keep my floss with my kits. I use the app XStitch to keep track of my unkitted floss. I also use it as an inventory of my linen, patterns and kitted projects. For linen, each piece is assigned a number. I have a series of drawers labeled with the count and manufacturer for the ones that I have the most of. Otherwise, it is in a drawer labeled as Miscellaneous and the count. I pull the fabric when I am ready to stitch or if I bought linen for a specific project. I’m an engineer and work in the defense industry so I like having traceability of my linen and floss.
Wonderful video! I loved it when Christy looked at Callie’s Autumn Splendor by Brenda Gervais and with resignation in her voice mentioned yes, it was real pretty. I saw an “add to cart.” I like to kit as I buy so I can stitch when I’m ready, even if it is 2:00 a.m. Love you guys. Happy stitchin’! ❤
I have all my DMC in plastic cases on bobbins. I have all my fancy floss on thread drops on rings by manufacturer in alphabetical order. I only kit up two or three projects at a time, because I also do not want seven skeins of threads I might never use again. I do have two or three skeins of Oscar because it's used a lot . You could kit them up and not put in the whole skein .... you could take a few threads off for each project, and put them on a floss drop with the thread name, that way you could kit them up without having to buy multiple skeins.
I keep my floss for each kit with it. Never mind I have 6 things of floss. And when the kits done then . I put it in a number box. It’s ok if I have 6 of them. I will use them eventually.
Nice HH w/ Brenda. Need adult beverages next time. I think XJu Designs, as the maker''s name is Jude. Awesome Kit Parade, I have some of the same to do. I kit up with as much floss as I can, fabric choice takes me forever, Refuse to start a chart unless it is fully kitted up. I'm afraid to let me hair color go. Fun Video, TYVM
That was lots of fun! And inspiring 😎 I like to have several projects kitted with everything, so I can just grab one and start when the wild hair flairs up 😂 Thanks for sharing ❤
You two continue to crack me up! Lol😂 I really enjoy the WIP and Kit parade because we all have projects piled up the ting yang! I too am a huge Brenda fan amongst others.
I have decided I’m not going to kit anything until I am ready to do it. I kit it up and then it sits forever and I keep re-buying floss. After un-kitting I now have tons of floss and way to many of the same colors. Always something new comes out that I want to stitch. Good luck Callie.
I went through all my kitted projects and make a spreadsheet listing all the threads that were in each project. After, I sorted it by thread color and then I knew what I had and where I could find it. Now if I need something for a project now, I know where to take it from.
I love watching you guys! I put the fabric with my pattern but pull the threads when I want to stitch it because it never fails I can't find the one color I know I have.
I kit the floss! Now, if I was struggling financially, it would be a different choice but thankfully, we are blessed That way I can just grab it and go. I mainly do it with the dmc conversions though. I don’t have many fancy flosses kitted up. If it’s a wip though I do have multiples of the fancy spread through those wips. 😂 I keep thinking I should take all those fancy flosses out so my stash looks not so skimpy! Christie I have a set of floss that’s been months t can’t find what they go to!! I’m about ready to pull my hair out! Hence my recent wip parades that I’m trying to organize! I must find its home!! Every ring will get a tag from now on when I kit them up going forward! 🤪😜thinking about all my sampler wips for sampler September. Today was hair day for me! Sadley I thought about the $ I spent on it and how much stash I could’ve bought with it! lol #priorities
Walmart has a few floss choices. Nothing special. It's 50+ miles one way to Hobby Lobby, Joann's or Michael's. Thank God for 123 Stitch and The Fat Quarter Shop. I'm with ya'll. I'm so tired of hot weather and especially the humidity. Bring on cooler weather as soon as possible.
Oh you ladies are so funny. Callie, you come up with the funniest sayings. I just couldn’t stop laughing at “I worked as hard as a Hebrew slave”. I never heard that one before but I sure will remember it for the future! I really enjoyed the Kit Parade. Thanks for a fun time!!
I’m pretty much monogamous with my stitching. I do have 3 patterns kitted up. So I pull my threads and then get to looking for some floss I know I have and duh…can’t find! Love y’all ❤
Thank you for the kitting parade! I am going to work on mine tomorrow! Can you show the yarn tree behind you and talk about how you organize thread? Thanks again!
Love this parade!!! I’ve normally kitted thread with my chart but seriously rethinking. I need to cut back the amount I’m spending on thread! I have so much kitted up and it will be years before I get to some of those projects!
Callie, I’m a member of the same club, with thy needle and thread, I love Brenda’s patterns she’s my favourite designer, thank you ladies for sharing your beautiful patterns and fabrics🙏❤️
How I needed a dose of my favorite cousins this morning!! Your opening was priceless- a great start to my day. Thank you for the inspiration, motivation and a generous helping of heifer humor!! ❤
You two are definitely my enablers!!! 😂. Y’all crack me up for sure 🤣🤣🤣. I’m from Alabama as well but down south, down in Fairhope. Having so many kitted projects must be an Alabamian thing 😜
You two always have me in stitches! Christy when you realized you both had the same color on, I just started laughing! Loved the “Happy hour with Brenda”! Really enjoy the banter back & forth between you guys! You have some great projects kitted up!
I would have too much anxiety if when I sat down to a project and didn’t have all the thread 😁 loved the Brenda parade 😉 I don’t think I have a favorite designer but I do have a few stacks of blackbird and Brenda..take care 🙋♀️happy stitching
So many great patterns! I have a library system of DMC floss. I make little cards with project name and called for floss... If I need a color it's easy to find. Fancy floss...I get the ones that variegate...eg Turkish red by weeks...if my project calls for 3 I'll keep that with pattern so that I don't run out...I have a box of 36 count fabric...I don't cut down or keep with pattern. If I use it I will then reorder for box. I mainly use picture this plus and zweigart. I'm in Canada and my local shop is 123 stitch ❤❤❤. Takes waaaay to long😂❤❤❤. Love you and appreciate you both❤❤❤❤
I don't kit up anymore. I had three and four skeins of several colors. I keep the floss on bobbins in a box made to store the bobbins. When I get a chart, I look to see if I have the color and only buy what I don't have. But it stays in the case until I need it to stitch, then it goes back. I don't need to know which project a skein goes to. The chart says "407" so I pull that bobbin. When it gets low, I can buy another..
Callie I love Brenda Gervais too and Stacie Nash. May you two have a lot kitted up. When I kit up a project I put the fabric in it and add the floss when I’m ready to start stitching on it.
Callie, I think the best thing to do is to pick the chart and cloth and when ready to stitch pull the floss. I unkited my floss because when I need floss for a project it's always in another bag so I go buy more, it's expensive. Where did you gals get the floss thread tree?
Nice kit parade today. Lots of stitchy goodness. I don't think there is a "one size fits all" method for floss. It always seems to be just a step or two away from being a dumpster fire. My rule is I can't kit more than I have project bags for and I'm not buying any more unless it is a darn cute bag. I have 4-6 WHIPS at any given time so of course have all the fibers needed in their project bag. I have 15 or so that are fully kitted and another 5 or so bags that will have chart and fabric and maybe a specialty fiber in them. These bags may have 2 or 3 charts/fabrics in them. If I buy a fully kitted chart; it stays together in packaging or a bag. I don't pull floss from my kitted projects unless it is an emergency (like being a strand or two short of completing a project). I worry about the dye lot changes with the fancy floss and would rather buy another skein and have a duplicate rather than run out and have a major color change. I use the Floss Away bags in little binders (cute as pie as you two would say) and if there is a color change between dye lots, they each get their own bag. When I have partial duplicates from different dye lots I use them in smaller projects or in scattered smaller motifs instead of large areas where the color change would be noticeable. Is is very hard to avoid duplicates if you have multiple WHIPS especially if you are doing multiple Brendas or BBD as they use similar color palettes in their charts. I have been stitching a long time so have collected most of the big 3 fancy flosses and won't join a floss club because so many of the designers I like use similar color palettes and I already have a large collection. So I only buy new when I run out or need a color. When I finish a project, the floss goes back in the binders sooner rather than later. Then I kit another project. What do I have kitted? Several BBD, a Brenda or two, Birds of a Feather, Rosewood Manor, 2 or 3 samplers from old magazines and half a dozen samplers from assorted designers. A girl's gotta have choices.
I kept thinking Callie must have spied my order list on 123Stitch with all those Brenda Gervais charts! I just ordered and received most of the ones she just showed lol! And I just got several Chessie and Me charts as well. I have no rhyme or reason to any of my kitting or organization. I think I own 20 skeins of Oscar for some reason!
HI ladies. Love both of you in that color - looks great. Can we please see Callie's dogs? I love Boston Terriers but my 130-pound Rottweiler probably wouldn't be very happy!!
I just love you two!!! You always make me laugh.. I sure do wish I lived in your area. Callie, I love me some Brenda Gervais and Plum Street also. When I kit up something I try to put everything in the bag, but sometimes I have to order thread or fabric. Can’t wait for your next video….. bye bye my friends
After seeing a trend, I now understand why you named this video happy hour with Brenda! I think I need to do some searching due to the enabling here! 😂
You two bring a smile to my heart. I'm in Texas where its 104 degrees and not cooler in sight. Keep bringing great chat and beautiul projects... Thank you!
I keep a Spreadsheet with all floss, and marked if another project has it, and what project. I am an accountant. lol
I would love love to see this!
Holy crap on a cracker! Thats amazing … lol!
That is 👌 awesome! I'm jealous of that.
I also use the thread tree and a spreadsheet idea
I’m always afraid the dye lots will change before I get to my kitted projects.

You ladies bring me so much joy. Your banter just cracks me up. I use Thread Stash to keep up with all my floss and projects.
@Bobisocs Hi, could you please give more information about Thread Stash? Is it an app? Many thanks!

I kit up with fabric, but I don’t do thread till, I am ready to stitch. I try to keep my wipes at 8-10.
I only keep 3 WIPS lg.,med., & travel small. I kit up about five ahead slowly adding thread if I don’t have enough.
So much fun to watch cousins and life-long friends share a hobby I love as well. 💖💗💖
Since I’m a newbie, don’t have too many wips (yet) I love Brenda’s charts too!
See ya in Montgomery!!

You are just what I needed tonight. Thank you
Callie should kit 2 Brenda 's that have similar floss colors together.
I always enjoy watching you two!! Such a bright spot this morning!! Loved seeing all your kits!
Loved seeing all your kitted up charts. You both have some beautiful charts to stitch. Thanks for sharing all the stitchy goodness 😊
❤😂. When I kit up, it’s usually the chart and fabric. Floss if I have it. What a fun video!❤
I keep my floss for each kit with it. Never mind I have 6 things of floss. And when the kits done then . I put it in a number box. It’s ok if I have 6 of them. I will use them eventually.
Thanks girls , great video! ❤
I kit up everything i buy…. Its a lot . Lol!
I’m trying to let mine grow out too Callie, especially since I’ve developed an allergy to the hair dye. But it’s hard to do without looking skunky.
I do kit up the floss. Not the fabric. I am doing Grandfathers barn. By Told in a Garden. I love Amish. Good parade today.
Such a great kitted up parade! I love Callie's sentiment - that shouldn't take long to stitch! So many lucious projects.
Yes I can
I’ll try and do that tomorrow and post a video 😊
I loved the Brenda show 😅. I have my fair share. I normally buy fancy floss when I order the chart only because I don't have a local store.
Love your videos! I lol and my husband thinks I’m on the phone when I watch you two😂
Love this parade!!! I’ve normally kitted thread with my chart but seriously rethinking. I need to cut back the amount I’m spending on thread! I have so much kitted up and it will be years before I get to some of those projects!
I use a spreadsheet for each mfg. And bin them together by color and mfg.
Callie, I’m a member of the same club, with thy needle and thread, I love Brenda’s patterns she’s my favourite designer, thank you ladies for sharing your beautiful patterns and fabrics🙏❤️
Happy Hour with ANYONE!!😂😂
I need to get a couple projects on my scroll rods. They are already kitted.
You two are so entertaining! So enjoyed the kit parade. So glad you are addicted to cross stitch.
When I kit up charts I put the chart floss and fabric But I use DMC floss so I can justify having duplicates for the cost
Well Callie had me looking for pocket watches😂😂😂 yep she is an enabler. ❤
You two always have me in stitches! Christy when you realized you both had the same color on, I just started laughing! Loved the “Happy hour with Brenda”! Really enjoy the banter back & forth between you guys! You have some great projects kitted up!
So good to see you girls. Callie everyone of Brenda's patterns has Oscar in it so I don't think you could have to much. Christy I love your shirt ❤❤
I have laughed and laughed and am wondering just how much more should I add to my trembling little credit card?! 😂
I would have too much anxiety if when I sat down to a project and didn’t have all the thread 😁 loved the Brenda parade 😉 I don’t think I have a favorite designer but I do have a few stacks of blackbird and Brenda..take care 🙋♀️happy stitching
So glad to see y’all again! You crack me up. Thank you for being REAL and so much fun.
Love you and appreciate you both❤❤❤❤
Love y’all so much!!
Loved all kits ❤
I don't kit up anymore. I had three and four skeins of several colors. I keep the floss on bobbins in a box made to store the bobbins. When I get a chart, I look to see if I have the color and only buy what I don't have. But it stays in the case until I need it to stitch, then it goes back. I don't need to know which project a skein goes to. The chart says "407" so I pull that bobbin. When it gets low, I can buy another..
I kit nothing until I’m ready to stitch it! 😮😂
I put the link in the description box!
I want to stitch all these! And I have many others. Life is good with needle and floss!
We will post some pics on the next video
I just love you two!!! You always make me laugh.. I sure do wish I lived in your area. Callie, I love me some Brenda Gervais and Plum Street also. When I kit up something I try to put everything in the bag, but sometimes I have to order thread or fabric. Can’t wait for your next video….. bye bye my friends
Make a little card that can hang on the tree with where the thread is.
You guys are so funny! You make me actually laugh out loud!
After seeing a trend, I now understand why you named this video happy hour with Brenda! I think I need to do some searching due to the enabling here! 😂
I just love your channel, you too are a Hoot 😅, pink is my favorite color I love your tops more power to you pink lights you up 😂
you girls are a hoot! I just love watching your video, and enjoy your funnies. Hugs from TX
I love it when you get sassy with each other! ❤
You two bring a smile to my heart. I'm in Texas where its 104 degrees and not cooler in sight. Keep bringing great chat and beautiul projects... Thank you!
