    By watching your channel I got a call for a one time mow because their mower was in the shop. I bid and said 35.00 to mow. If you want weed eating it will be another 10.00. At first it was just mow. Then it was trim to. It sounds great if i did it all day. But add my 30 minutes to load up for just 1 job, gas,drive time,unload time and cleaning equipment. Took me down to about 10.50 a hour. Works great if you do a whole neighborhood.

    One of my blessings was growing up as the son of a landscaper who owns his company. So if I ever have a new job I'm taking on or I haven't quoted that style before I'm always having a 30 minute conversation with him on types of materials, expected times, etc. Basically get an idea myself, run it by him, adjust anything before I concrete the quote and design of the job.
    I'm having to adjust to the fact that I can also quote much higher than him as he lives in rural communities and I live in a fairly affluent area on Canada so pricing is much higher out here in terms of labour etc. and like Brian said, it's easy to feel like you're charging too much based on what you would personally spend. I just finished a 15 by 10 ft semi circle egg-shaped flower bed for a customer. From stripping it all down, grading, fabric, edging, mulch, planting, it took me 2 days and probably cost a total $1,000 CDN and that was with the customer going out to grab the plants and mulch and me just charging labour and material (with a margin built on top of material costs). Were I supplying the mulch and plants it would've been $1,500 vs a total cost to them of probably $1,250. And that's just for one bed. It adds up quickly.

    Okay, you two did a residential quote. Now do a commercial quote. This is so awesome. I would love to do a walk through from start to finish with Keith to see how he invoices, talks to the customer, request the down payment, and all that goes into the large jobs that he does. Not to get in his business, but to actually see it done from start to finish. These videos are great but for someone like me that is a hands on learner, watching is good, but does not teach. Thank you both for doing this type of video.

    • @d1vin1ty
      @d1vin1ty 4 года назад +3

      at 500 sq ft, if you were to space them every 2 ft apart you'd use 3 nails per width if using a 4x300 roll (likely using 4 foot rolls given the width of the bed, unless they're 5 foot beds then a 6 foot roll works better and ends up using 200 nails at 4 per width), which would be almost 100 ft of the roll. so a 6 foot roll would use 100/2 = 50 widths x 4 nails = 200 nails total. using 2 4 foot rolls if it's a 6 foot bed would still only use 4 wide since you'd use 2 where the fabrics meet and 1 at either end. 500 is actually way, way, way overboard so I'm guessing it was just a number tossed out in the moment. Even with it not being a perfect rectangle, 500 is killer quote inflation given the pricing of nails.
