    That arrow rest is designed to have the arrow nocked with the different colored fletch pointing up. Then the arrow will fly through the rest without the fletchings touching. It's a good rest, your just using it wrong.

    A word of caution to those getting into compound archery: Drawing a modern compound bow by hand, without a release aid, risks having the string derail from the cams. This effectively dry fires the bow, risking damage to the bow and archer! Also, don't draw a bow without a knocked arrow.

    • @ThatJamesGuy88
      @ThatJamesGuy88 3 года назад +8

      If you have the strength to draw and let down the bow without dry firing, how does pulling it by hand risk the cams? I’m no expert, but I’ve never heard of a cam derailing as long as the string was pulled straight back and not torqued side to side.

    • @jdrein9511
      @jdrein9511 3 года назад +3

      @@ThatJamesGuy88 You touched on the issue. At full draw, there's not a lot of tension there to keep the string straight. If enough torque is applied, the string can run off the cams. I've seen it happen. It's not pretty. It's not so much a matter of torque from the holding arm as it is torque from the hand on the string. The natural tendency is for the string angle at the top of the archer's hand to bend inward while the bottom bends outward. Some bows can handle it better than others.

    • @nenadstanojevic1427
      @nenadstanojevic1427 2 года назад +5

      Only if the string is too loose and the person using it torques the grip. If you don't torque the grip, you should be ok.

By the way I bought two of these (very hard to find now in 2022) bows - there are now several similar bows hitting the shores from China probably just as good if you compare the specs / Computer-aided designs / Quality materials and accurate construction. There are also cheaper ones using plastics - not magnesium risers and fiberglass or carbon-fiber limbs. Watch out. If you can get one of these, they're just as good as these shooting reviewers state.

      Not with the arrows they give you or those field tips. You need broadheads. Those are going to be basic cheap target arrows, The kinetic force just isn’t there. Nothing about this bow is actually going to be hunting ready. You’ll need to sight you pins to accuracy. There’s another comment below where a gentleman said his string is fraying after 6 months. If your limbs aren’t tightened evenly your shots will be off. Your D loop and peep sight need to be adjusted for where you position your draw length. Those are already set on that string I wouldn’t trust that. This bow might be a decent tool to become familiar with bow setups but don’t feel that you should jump into a hunt with this. @@DaveWirth that’s a great deer! But there are far safer and more quality ways for someone who doesn’t want to or simply can’t spend $1000 on a bow. Like light years ahead in terms of quality. Quality of experience, quality of consistency, quality of safety, quality of longevity. What you have here is a dangerous recipe for someone to be injured or frustrated and turn away from archery. Some very basic research will provide far more options.

      @@markwarner.03 The last bow i owned was a Bear bow i got at Sports Authority in like 1998, for like $100? Middle one: ibb.co/wdqNKMT
      So this year when i thought it would be cool to try bow hunting again i tried shooting it. Then i saw how far modern bows and cams have come in terms of let-off, draw length, speed... So i wanted to buy a new bow, and was looking at the $400 Bear Cruzer G2. It looked really similar to this Sanlida bow, so i went with the cheaper one. Then i bought some cheap carbon arrows, like $35 for 12.
      If i keep hunting, ya, i'll probably get a better bow and better arrows. But for jumping back into bow hunting this was a cheap option.
      I realize it's kind of like tools. Buy the best quality tool you can afford. I've bought some cheap Harbor Freight tools that i hate using. But sometimes the cheap tools are fine if you only need to use them once or twice a year.

    It is a cheap Chinese bow.
    God only knows where they have reduced the quality?
    Did they mess with the metallurgy of the riser?
    Probably to make it cheaper.
    Will that make the riser flex more? Probably?
    Will that affect accuracy?
    Yea, most likely.
    Did they cheapen the axles, bearings and cams?
    Probably.
    Will the bow last as long as the ones properly made?
    Probably not.
    How are the limbs made?
    Will the limbs loose power over time due to poorer quality materials it is made from?
    Probably.
    I fully get that it is a cheaper bow, what is not clear is, where have they saved the money and how is this going to affect you down the track?
    Do they have their own version of the string? Probably. Are they using sub standard strands? Probably.
    Eventually this all adds up. Question is ... when will it bite you?
    Well, that bow is certainly not the Bowtec SB-1 or a Matthews Mission Craze, but it is comparable to them only in is adjustability.
    We know the quality of the SB-1, probably even the Misson Craze.
    In time, we will know the quality of the Sanlida.
    Honestly, ... i would not buy it.
    I don't know the quality of it.
    I dont know what they did to cheapen the bow so much to achieve that kind of price point.
    Can you pick up that bow after 10 years of shooting it, and will it still be good?
    The SB-1 is, and so is the Misson Craze.
    Lets see what happens.
    Time will tell.

    • @DaveWirth
      @DaveWirth  2 года назад +7

      I get your point. And don't necessarily dis-agree with you.
      But...
      Who's to say that the Bear or Mathews bows are made out of superior metal?
      Just because it's more expensive - your assuming it's better quality.
      Sure, there's a possibility that this is a cheaply made bow.
      But for me, just getting back into bow hunting, i didn't want to shell out $500 + for a bow, only to find out that i'm not that into shooting or hunting.
      However, it turns out that i have enjoyed it, and i've been shooting in my yard pretty at least a couple times a week.
      My next bow might be one of those brands you named.
      But after almost a year this $200 bow i bought on amazon has been great. No frayed strings, no issues with cams or risers or anything.
      So i don't think i will need to buy a new bow for many years.

      @@DaveWirth I don't disagree that bows are way over priced, I paid $1400 with sales tax for a new bow this year. I have been in archery for over 25 years, shot martins, pse, mission, Mathews, bowtech, bear...... I can tell you there is a major difference from cheap to affordable to flagship bows. High end bows metal is machined out of solid metal, no casting. The metal types for professional bows are listed or readily available if someone wants to ask. IMHO cheap bows are like farm trucks, may need a few parts replaced, engine work but get the job done, but you are not taking a road trip with it, or you may not make it back.

      Right... just like how a car mechanic charged me $500 for the EXACT SAME fuel pump on Amazon for $250.
      Who knows what "questionable quality" work I might have gotten had I not overpaid for that fuel pump. 🙄
