I love how you can always post new and creative content without buying tons of new products that will end up gathering dust or decluttered. You are a great example of conscientious consumerism and I appreciate that. It helps keeps me more mindful as we hit peak holiday release season.
Shopping my stash and a low-key project pan are definitely my favourite ways to get more use from my makeup. The „base” usually stays the same for me, like powder or mascara, but I like to switch eyeshadows and cheek products weekly 😃
Cleaning my makeup helps me so much! Another thing I do for my palettes is physically rotationing them when they are sitting open as I get ready. This helps because instead of seeing the colors in the same order I'm used to when I open the palette, rotating my palette "changes" the order of the colors, so I see a "new" color story. This was my solution for palettes I don't want to depot.
Super helpful tips! I made a franken shadow a couple of weeks back with shadows that didn't look good on me individually. I got a beautiful rust brown shade that is super wearable to work too
Great tips!! And absolutely mix foundations! It came to a point where I had 8 foundations of which I liked none - too pink/orange and/or sat bad on my skin. I realised I couldn't keep buying, hoping to find my perfect foundation and shade. Mixing two foundations, or a primer and concealer I didn't like could make one I really fell in love with! My breakthrough happened when I got the green primer from nyx, which I mix with foundations or with a concealer to create a foundation in order to make them match my fair but olive/yellow skin and a finish I like! I highly recommend making the products work, because I fell in love with each combination and was sad to see it go each time, but happy that I can now use all my products 😊
Actually you don’t want to use a higher alcohol percentage because it evaporates too fast to sanitize. 70% is the best option (that’s what is also used in hand sanitizer)
I used to go through my entire collection, laying everything out by shade, opened up, and wipe it all down, test it, decluttering as needed, 2-3 times per year. It really helped me be excited about my stash and interested in using stuff that had sat around unused a while. Having too much to do it all together now, I still do it by category at least once/year.
Yes, love your tip about searching for old tutorials. I have a playlist of looks for each of the palettes I own. I almost never buying anything when it launches so by the time I own it, there is plenty of content for inspiration already.
Love these tips Sarah! Love how conscious and inspiring you are with your content. I also really enjoying mixing my products. My favorite combination is mixing my powder blushes with a tiny drop of facial oil to create liquid blush. I don’t use makeup on a daily basis so it takes me forever to hit pan. This method consumes more products, and your pan looks very patchy from all the scraping, but I don’t mind doing that with my powder blushes because I enjoy it so much, I want to finish my products quicker, and the end finish is always gorgeous, a watercolor-like effect. I also was so close to buying liquid blushes so many times but ended up having none in my collection because I already have exactly what I need, and my “liquid blush” has a much longer shelf life too :)
My biggest tip (and I think I learned this from you) is to use your lipsticks as cream blush! That’s been the greatest tip for me. I get so much more use out of my products that way!
Following your tips I mixed a very dark brown eyeshadow with a setting powder that looks too yellow on my cool toned skin and I got a great transition shade that combines with every palette I own. Thanks for your great advices! 🥰
Great tips! I often search for tutorials using my older palettes when I have some free time and keep a note of the shadows used etc on my phone so when I am feeling uninspired I can look on my phone for a quick look.
Oh my! I cant believe I never thought about making a franken eyeshadow until now! Of course I've seen the progression of the franken bronzer. I know this video is old but it popped up on my feed. Just to remind me to make a franken eyeshadow with my almost-panned shadows!
Really good advice. I've done the mixing of foundations, and concealers with moisturizer, and it works wonders, specially when i have off shades :c so that's how I actually use things that don't work for me on their own. Love to clean my products, they keep looking as if they were new ♡ OHHH and the one week one palette, i did that with the born to run and FINALLY got to use all the shades haha, and it ended out more wearable than I expected, I was just afraid of using the colors but got more confident day after day, I am still thinking which one I'll pick for next week, but I am excited! I might try a "bingo" kind of thing to pick the palette hehe, so much fun Thank you for sharing this with us! ♡
I love these tips! I also love your look! The blue eyeshadow, your lashes, your hairstyle, your earrings, and even your top are giving me 1970s vibes in the best way. Take it from me as some who grew up in the seventies! ~ Anastacia in Cleveland
Great ideas! I am in a rut with some of my Project Pan items that are lasting FOREVER, and I need to mix things up! I have gotten into the habit of trying to dupe palettes that tempt me, with some success (like those Essence six-pans).
This is such a great video! I love playing with makeup. Going to start doing some 5 day one palettes, and then use singles the other 2 days of the week. Looking forward to it!
I love your eye look😍 I like these tips, I actually made a “Frankenstein” bronzer (my ofra X Samantha March bronzer and elf face powder, because the tone of the bronzer was a little off for me and now after doing that I’ve almost used it up) and a eyeshadow (2 ofra shades from the Galaxy Palette because I was almost done with that palette and only had those two shades left so I decided to mix them together!and pressed it into an empty single).
Wonderful video. I have a big single eyeshadow collection and there are so many that I like but I never wear. I think I'll do a one week one shadow so I can learn to love them. Thanks for the idea!!
I actually sanitize my makeup weekly as part of my brush cleaning routine. It has helped to extend the longevity of my makeup, and it helps me to pick out what I want to wear for the next week.
I have found if I physically keep a good amount of my makeup in a drawer out of sight and go find a new item or two every couple of months I get excited again!
Great tips. I also mix my foundations depending on how I feel that day. This is why I don’t care if foundations don’t match me. I have a variety of coverage and colors to mix and match
I get bored of my eyeshadows but I haven't done one of those "pan in every pallete" project pans yet and i think the challenge will keep me interested.
"....come on give it a try. go on.." Look you're right but also...I'm Veruca Salt and I WANT IT NOOOOOOOWWWW lol. I have actually been trying to find ways to do things similar to what you mentioned. One of my biggest hurdles is I have ADHD and not a lot of space to have stuff out so with my almost non-existent object permanence, I tend to forget certain things exist. I've been toying with idea to get floating shelves and not just for our bathroom and living room so that what I want to use/try to get more use out of is within my line of sight. I really appreciate that you did this video because sometimes I don't even realize I can mix things up (literally) and a fresh take never hurts.
I am surprised that the Milani concealer is drying on your undereyes. It is not drying of me. The LA girl color correcting concealer is very drying on me. So I mix it with a little moisturizer and it is okay. But I noticed that other people on RUclips do not complain about how the LA color correcting concealer is drying. The regular La girl concealer is okay on my under eyes.
I can tell you, you're the first channel that makes me want to use what i have. Most focus on the new all the time, they create fomo.. i am sooo overwhelmed by my collection that i get anxiety too flim. The excitement seems for me to just buy it, but not use it and I'm really struggling with the fine line in between loving and hating my collecting... I'm not talking a kinda big collection.. I'm talking over 3000 makeup products. Please keep these videos going... they're registering in my brain for some reason 🤣
Those are some really helpful pieces of advice, thank you so much! 😊 I usually do something similar with my lipsticks: I love mixing different shades of my bullet lipsticks to create new ones, for example, I have a very bright orange one that I like, but I don't feel comfortable wearing it alone when I do a more "important" eye make up, so I mix it with a beige nude one and there it is, a very wearable peachy "new" lipstick! 😋👍💄
Full coverage foundations and concealers tend to go a longer way because if you want a light coverage look, you can just mix in a moisturizer or glowy face primer.. I've been using my face powder to lighten and bronzer or blush the looks too dark on me and it's been working really well!
To be honest I’ve heard a lot of you tubers talk about doing a pan that palette but I’ve never been interested enough to start one. I don’t usually get enough use out of palette because I don’t use my eyeshadow enough. Ive tried looking for older palettes eyeshadow looks here on RUclips and it works well! Ive gotten inspired before all over again! I love your videos and you some how convinced me to start using them again! Thanks! If you have any other advice you’d like to share or videos kinda like this, please share!!
I have created a Playlist with videos on all palettes I own. It started with me doing it for a new palette and I thought it would be a good way to see makeup content on makeup I own rather than makeup content on new New NEW makeup all the time. I do like a 1 week 1 palette challenge though, or pairing palettes for a week.
I also find the Milani concealer too drying, but I’ll spray it with a hydrating setting spray and it helps! I’ve also been mixing that concealer with a really pigmented liquid blush of mine and it’s been working out great for me 🙌🏼
ooh yes I've been doing that lately too, mixing the milani concealer with my ofra liquid lipstick to make it less dark as a cream blush!! it's great because it adds some coverage to my cheeks also!
I love how you can always post new and creative content without buying tons of new products that will end up gathering dust or decluttered. You are a great example of conscientious consumerism and I appreciate that. It helps keeps me more mindful as we hit peak holiday release season.
Thank you Meg!! I’m so glad it’s helpful!💕
I am so glad you mentioned cleaning your makeup because it really does make difference!
It really does! I need to do it more often!

I love your tip about wiping down your makeup, I always find this helps everything feel new and pretty again. Great video as always 💜
i love your drive to actually use what you have. so many people just buy new stuff and throw out the old
I love your whole look today, you look so glamourous! Duping the vibes instead of buying something is one of my favorite types of videos to watch
Yes, love your tip about searching for old tutorials. I have a playlist of looks for each of the palettes I own. I almost never buying anything when it launches so by the time I own it, there is plenty of content for inspiration already.
First off, I LOVE your earrings!! And second, my favorite thing is mixing my foundations and moisturizers! It makes me feel like a scientist 😂
Haha 😂 Yes! I know exactly what you mean. I love mixing products too! XOXO
Good tips! I watch old RUclips tutorial videos for my one month one palette inspiration 😃

Thanks for all of these tips! I’ll have to try cleaning up my products to make them look “new” again 😊
My biggest tip (and I think I learned this from you) is to use your lipsticks as cream blush! That’s been the greatest tip for me. I get so much more use out of my products that way!

Have you considered mixing a drying conceited with a little bit of skin moisturizer?
I could but prefer high coverage on my under eyes and don’t want to sheer it out with moisturizer :)
Full coverage foundations and concealers tend to go a longer way because if you want a light coverage look, you can just mix in a moisturizer or glowy face primer.. I've been using my face powder to lighten and bronzer or blush the looks too dark on me and it's been working really well!
Love this video!
Thank you Laurie!!
