I am still somewhat baffled that they managed to translate dnd5e pretty much one for one in the computer game. Like I get that older games like kotor and original BG were based on the dnd system but not to this extend
Honestly, this might be the most fun turn based combat I've ever dabbled with. The three dimensionality of levels, the versatility of spells, the realistic strategy aspects. I've had countless situations where I thought "Surely the game wouldn't let me do this", and the game immediately proved me wrong. I am using genuine strategic thinking all the time and getting constantly rewarded for it. Just now I was trying to storm a goblin fortress and just couldn't make it because the enemy archers were absolutely destroying me. After a particularly crushing defeat I remembered I had the option for a spell that created a cloud of smoke that blinded everyone in it, took said spell on Asterion, and just as the enemy archers made a neat little line to attack me I blinded them all. Previously I had also covered the floor right in front of the smoke with grease, so they all tried to run, a good part of them fell, and then I set everyone on fire. After they formed a line *again* to attack me, I blinded them once more, all the while they were oblivious to my greater strategy: I was luring them all into a chokepoint that would make taking them out way easier. Surely enough they escape the smoke by walking forwards. At this point there was a giant in front of them that blocked the entire chokepoint with his body, which gave me ample opportunity to gather them into a neat little group that would take extreme ammounts of damage from my AOE spells. This game's combat is incredible.

It still doesn’t change the fact that it’s turn based, and the slow gameplay due to the nature of turn based games
@@carlosmartinez3020 well it literally couldn't be any other way and still call itself a D&D game.
@@brother_sothoth that’s the thing new comers who are looking in from the outside won’t be appealed by the turn based system or even put off to the put will potentially avoid, sometimes things can change the core foundations of gameplay and still be great to many people, GOW games for an example
@@carlosmartinez3020 but that's where my point lies. The BG series has always been a game for people who are fans of D&D already. Many things in the game rely on you having prior knowledge of some core mechanics in D&D, even more so in BG3. Not knowing anything about D&D and jumping into BG3 will put you at a pretty severe disadvantage. They aren't trying to make a game that will appeal to everyone. They're trying to make a game for fans of D&D and fans of the game series.
@@brother_sothoth this is what i don't understand with most people, when they're saying that the game is bad because combat is turn based. It's like saying "CSGO is a bad game, because it is a shooter and i don't like shooter games".
I really hope that this title is a meme reference :D :D :D
Every RPG is one of the RPGs of all time, guy
I haven't played this one, but I have played Baldur's Gate 1&2 and they are REALLY good RPG's.
I preferred those to this ( so far )

Yeah..i'm more into action rpg nowadays even though turn based used to be my favourite. This game looks good but probably something i will never play (because i got too many postponed games i want to play).
