When the hearthfire turns to blue, What to do? What to do? Run outside. Run and hide. When his eyes are black as crow? Where to go? Where to go? Near and far. Here they are. See a man without a face? Move like ghosts from place to place. What’s their plan? What’s their plan? Chandrian. Chandrian. When the hearthfire turns to blue, What to do? What to do? Run outside. Run and hide. When your bright sword turns to rust? Who to trust? Who to trust? Stand alone. Standing stone. See a woman pale as snow? Silent come and silent go. What’s their plan? What’s their plan? Chandrian. Chandrian.
Children remember. Even things the adult world has forgotten... somehow, children remember. What other horrors do they know, that we have all but forgotten?
You know, I don't think there can be a better or more accurate realization of this song. It's supposed to be a children's song and this sounds just like that, but this sounds so eerie and mystical with a darkness to it that might not be so obvious to mere children. I have looked far and wide, and though there are a few of them who have tried to realize this song, none of them has done so as you have. You should consider [itching this to Lin-Manuel Miranda as he is developing the show and has openly said that realizing the songs is such a hard task and they have not cracked it yet. You should really try your best contacting Lin-Manuel. All the best and I hope this can make it into the show/movie, whenever that will be out :-P
I can really imagine a bunch of kids running around singing this! The tune is so children's song-like, but the words just make it creepy. It's like ring around the rosie... It's great!!! XD Welp! Time for nightmares. This part in the books gave me chills... D:

I am finally coming around to read The Kingkiller Chronicles and I just reached the point where they sing a little bit of this song. I immediately had to think of your version of it and had to listen to it while reading, it is so beautiful yet uneasing, it fits perfectly!
It's been a while since I read the books, but still really great work! ^^ Although it becomes a little creepy that the melody is so happy while the lyrics are about (the) Chandrian...
@@quinnsinclair7028 its the same way everyone makes the Cthaeh sound so goddamn creepy but it doesn't fit the description at all. You associate it as evil so you put your own spin on it. Thats kinda PR most favorite thing is hiding his writing in plane site. Like the princess and the kitten story. If you haven't seen him read thay i highly recommend
The line "run outside, run and hide" and "stand alone, standing stone" always makes me think of a time in the distant past when a parent would be trying to impress these lessons on their children in preparation, because it was a matter of survival. The way that you enunciate those lines carries a lot of this emotional weight for me.
When I found your channel (thanks, Roomie), I immediately thought how awesome your style would be for the Kingkiller Chronicles. You can imagine my glee upon seeing this video! Love the song and it suits perfectly!
It's absolutely amazing! It cheerful enough to sound like a song that is sung by kids playing on the road, but has a slightly dark tone to it. Exactly how I would want it to be. But Merrigan , dear, you're singing the wrong kind of songs...
Amazing and magical voice! I like it so much. It's like Felurian whisper softly in my ear. I am a big fan of "The Kingkiller Chronicle" books and this performance is absolutely amazing in my opinion. The song is beautiful and creepy in the same time and it brings me to the fantasy world of chandrian, fae, Kvothe and Denna. Thank you Merrigan for this magical musical journey. You're amazing!🎼😘
I really love how you incorporate the melody from your "A Song of Seven Sorrows". It's like Haliax is standing there, keeping them all under he thumb. :)
this is the perfect combination of childish, creepy and magestic just like it is supposed to be. you are awesome. I love all your work and i hope you keep up
It sounds like Coraline, a movie that dreads me but you give me that certainty when I hear it. Seriously I'm starting to love your channel madly hahaha
Wow. I just started reading the books and [SPOILER] I just reached the part where his parents get killed. It's so moving when Kvothe takes a break from his story and goes to have a wretched good sob. I teared up reading that. He tells Bast not to cry and he instead goes out and let's out all his emotions.
I never read a book of the Kingkiller Chronicles (because I'm poor) but this song sounds great! Amazing job as always, and someday I will become your patreon or maybe bought your album or both

RIP Merrigan...

Lol
It's just as beautiful and creepy as one would hope. But you know Merrigan... You are singing quite the wrong sort of songs...

sing for Rothfuss and his fans,
Merrigan, Merrigan

Totally what I felt
It's all fun and games until you hear the strains of "Song of Seven Sorrows" and fall out of your seat.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
THIS!! adds so much depth.
Be careful singing this song omg
It's okay because she didn't say the real names .

Pois é, coragem de cantar isso.

Pat Rothfuss must see this! This song is beautiful and creepy, I can imagine Chandrian through the music 😍
I agree
Im new to the fanbase but got Damm does that give me goosebumps
Patrick must heard this!!
I dont know what i want more: the third book or another merrigan song about the kingkiller chronicles. I love her weird style.
7 chandrian and 2 haters (Hemme and Ambrose) dislike this song XD
And carceret

This song makes me terrified
damn this was really well done. congrats. this is my headcanon official song now
you are too beautiful to be human you must be fae
Played this on the boom box while at the gym, people seemed to love it!
You still use a boom box? Its 2017
for all that, she lacked your fire
I come back to this video every once in awhile. Btw you remind me oona from legend in this video.

Villager #255 maybe because is a childrens song??
That's the scary part. Everyone sees the Chandrian as a fairytale. They are myths to most people, little more than a silly children's song
DrusillaWinfrey It’s in the vein of real children’s songs. Ring around the Rosie is about the plague. “Ashes, Ashes. We all fall down.”

Really great realization, the mood of the Song, is really great, and exactly fitting to how the Song is described.
That's a dangerous song to be singing, @Merrigan. . . .The kind that makes people wake up with everyone they've ever loved brutally murdered.
Wow, you made a good job! Great song!
My gosh! You're incredible 😮
Glad to know that your songs and versions are on spotify as well!
Amei! ❤ Amo!

Beautiful voice and arrangement! Thank you for sharing this with us
Merrigan you know?
i love you :)
This is fantastic!
It's so weird that I actually feel nervous listening to this.
I think this song actually is what to do when facing the chandrian, somehow its lyrics will help Kvothe to face them
this would be THE perfect soundtrack for the movies!!
Enchantingly haunting tune ...
This is so catchy!
You look so enthralled in the music: it's really enjoyable! :)
I hear the seven sorrows theme you made in this. I love it
Thank you for noticing!
It sounds like Coraline, a movie that dreads me but you give me that certainty when I hear it. Seriously I'm starting to love your channel madly hahaha

Only I can say PERFECT. THANK YOU very much
Love love love! You have such a beautiful voice, and this melody is great!
The movement of Merrigan's head reminds me the whit and tiny spirits from the Princess Mononoke...
Great song
Oh, my dear!!! This is lovely!!
That's amazing! Tks from Brazil.
I must confess that I paused the song in half and thought to spill a drop of beer before I finished listening to it.
Plainly brilliant!
Finally someone who understands this is a kid's song, not a "dark" song
Lovely song! nice harmonies.
And still listening through 2019 !!!
Merrigan i love you, greetings from Chile !!
it was amazing, you are amazing
THIS IS PERFECTION 😍😍😍
Just easy enough for a children song and beautiful enough to remind me of campfires at midnight

Indeed! As was your collaboration with her for Summerspell...magical music!
Thank you!
What in the wide world would possess you to sing this sort of song? Now I have to sleep one thousand nights and walk one thousand miles.
Seriously, though: Thanks for creeping me out. I hate and love this.
This is so amazing, good job!!
Love this. Definitely worth the risk
STOP... im gonna cry
I love Patrick Rothfuss ❤
