I'm writing this before it premieres so be interesting to see if Mike agrees with any of these lol
1:25 - No, I think we'll have a contender or an upset by the end of 2025 or maybe even a retirement from Pantoja to a lesser degree, however Pantoja has been brilliant and deserves to cement himself as one of the best.
6:09 - Honestly, I think people have been sleeping on Belal again. Before the Ian and Shavkat fight I heard people saying "Whoever wins this fight is going to be the champion next" which I felt was a little disrespectful to Belal. He's good, has improved a lot and he's the champion for a reason, it was the same going into the Leon fight yet I felt his pressure and dominance would beat Leon and it did. I'm not as confident he'll beat Shavkat as easily but it wouldn't surprise me if Belal is able to pressure Shavkat and win on the score cards. Guess we'll see but it won't be a shock if he retains.
9:49 - Yes, they are too good right now and still going into their prime, they're going to get better and I do feel that one of them at least will be champion soon, whether that's real soon with Shavkat or later down the line one of the guys rebuilding but I definitely can see Shavkat and Ian fighting again in the octagon, they'll just meet with their performances.
12:15 - No, I did think about it a little but Islam is more popular and in a bigger weight class which usually takes priority too. He's also been a champion longer with more title defences.
15:29 - I'm not sure how big the odds are but Umar being favored isn't nuts, I know the level of competition plays a part and I can see why people would think it was nuts but Merab seems to be coming in a little too emotionally recently and Umar has looked pretty dominant. Again, I wouldn't argue if people think it's crazy because I can understand why but I can also see why Umar would be favored too as mentioned above. It shouldn't be a big difference though.
18:43 - No, it's just timing and locations probably as well as needing a title shot for the main event at the venue. Of course, I'd like to see Khamzat have the shot and he deserves it so much more after his performance over Whittaker as opposed to Strickland winning a split decision over Costa BUT it really is down to timing and availability more than anything when these fights are booked. Khamzat will get his shot regardless so it doesn't matter.
22:18 - I actually think it's pretty good yeah. O'Malley needs to get himself back into the title picture and Yan put on an incredible performance against Figueiredo recently where he looked better than ever. Whoever is the best out of the two should get the title shot, so let's find out 😊
26:19 - Strong take!! It's possible with Buckleys power but Colby has a chin and he also has a very good fight IQ but Buckley does hit hard. Colby also didn't look great in his last fight against Leon and does his chin still hold up against Buckley's power after the Usman fight, has it been tested by the power Buckley brings since then so it is possible. It all depends on which Colby turns up I guess but I just think Buckleys fight IQ isn't as good as Leon's and Colby will be able to grind Buckley to a decision though if Buckley happens to land that shot, be it his hands or the kick like we saw with Impa and Fialho I wouldn't be surprised. Buckley has also looked very good in this weight class as well so it's going to be a real test to see if he can get himself among the top of the division, or not.
Just a bit of fun I thought I would add before the premiere goes live, see how much Mike agrees with my takes, or not haha
It's all in fun, I look forward to the video guys 😊

@mikebohnmma haha you're welcome Mike! Video was great!! Pretty much on the same page give and take however it's what makes this sport so great and some of the points made were great such as Pantoja's title reign to the end of 2025, I also thought about activity and the amount of fights playing a part too while writing it though I think we'll see a change of hands with the title by that point but who knows, I wouldn't be surprised if Pantoja does keep the title and retires the following year or something as champion, he's been great and very underrated!!
Congrats on the engagement by the way and keep up the great work at MMA Junkie, you all do a great job with the content so kudos to you 😊

Alexandre Pantoja (Pants as some media members call him) will still be UFC Flyweight Champion by this time next year. I want to say Simon got this one. Although it depends on if Muhammad Mokaev wins his fight on Friday (as of this dropping his opponent dropped and he needs a new one). Pantoja should just keep raking up defenses. He is 34 years of age. I think fans wont like Pantoja now cause he will be in rematches mostly. Thats why everybody jumped on the DJ callout. Deep down that was an embrassing win by Pantoja.
Shavakat Rakhamnov will be UFC Welterweight Champion. I think its a 50-50. I think Belai has a chance vs Shavakat. That was Shavakats toughest date in the UFC. I think Belai will be a HUGE underdog in the fight.
Shavakt Rakhamnov vs Ian Machado Garry 2 will be for the UFC Welterweight Champion. Ill say its an overreaction. Belai has a chance after Saturday.
UFC 311 should be Merab Dvalishi vs #2. Umar Nurmaedggov. I think this is an overreaction but I see where Simon was coming from. There is more drama in the co main. Islam vs Arman is like a cool fight. There is respect there. Its like I wonder how they will be 5 years later. But the UFC will go with the higher weight class. Also Umar being the favorite vs Merab is NUTS. I agree with Simon. That is nuts. Umar went from Bekzat to Cory to title shot. Merab is turning around 3 months after winning the title is strange but not surprising. Dana hates Serra Longo gym with a passion it feels like.
Sean Strickland getting a title shot over Khamzat Chimaev is bullshit. I agree but not surprised its happening. They love Khamzat fighting in thie middle east. 5 of his 8 fights are in the middle east. It was easier for them to give it to Sean cause he can get to the cage easier than Khamzat.
DING DING DING Sean O Malley vs Petr Yan 2 makes sense. I agree with everything Simon and Mike said.
Joaquin will knock Colby out. That is a BIG take from Simon. I wont agree or disagree. Just surprise in a good way that Simon feels that confident.

Islam top 3 ppv draw?? LolsS
… this guy has no clue… alex pereira…o’maley, nate diaz already beat islam

Nate Diaz hasn't been a UFC fighter for more than two years brother. Alex Pereira certainly in the top three. Think the jury is still out on Sean O'Malley. Not enough evidence he's a real draw yet.

    • @The_Gem_Guy
      @The_Gem_Guy 3 дня назад

@ nate is still in the Roster. Thats why I mentioned him. O’Malley def better than Islam. Theres a reason UFC pushed so much him to the top contenders even after his loss to chito.
