I bought one a year ago, just started driving it yesterday! My employer recognized it and recalled this movie! What a joy it is to drive, not perfect, not like uncle bucks, just impressive in ways you can’t imagine! Exact same color inside and out with that big old 460!! “Build back better”… LOL

Oh I loved my beater! A 4 cylinder manual shift Subaru. A exhaust ventilation pipe melted into the engine driving with the windows open was a must! I had to sometimes do the driver door open pushing then popping the clutch into 2nd to get it started. It used to sometimes stay on with the ignition turned off the engine was chugging like it would pop back on as I’m walking away after parking it.
I had a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am as my first car. It would diesel when it shut it off and shoot a massive fireball out the exhaust. Sounded like a .50 cal going off. I remember one of my friends referenced this movie and we were dying laughing

Then my buddy asks me how TF i can drive this thing its been bouncing obnoxiously for the past mile..
No offense to the Batmobile, Bond's Aston Martin, the Trans-am from Smokey and the Bandit, or Doc Brown's DeLorean, but this is the greatest car in the history of cinema.
I love how the car is around 10 years old and is completely trashed, engine worn out and body rusted. You would have to seriously neglect a modern car to have that happen.

FOR THOSE WHO SAY ITS A LINCOLN: the hood ornament on the Lincoln and mercury is basically the same, but the headlights have crowns on them, making it a mercury. They were the same car anyway
There actually two totally different cars almost no parts are the same cept the engine, trans and maybe the axle if it's a nine inch. I own one and found that out shortly after hunting for parts. Some interior parts can be swapped over maybe a bumper or two but not much.
@CameronSeavey-qm8xz Sister car in frame design maybe but I believe even the wheel base is different on these cars. Also there are no interchangeable body panels. These cars share nothing besides maybe some suspension / drivetrain components
I've got the ford service manuals from 1978 and it is clear that the Ford LTD and Mercury Marquis shared everything but their cosmetic appearances. The Lincoln continental on the other hand was the one that was somewhat different .
I'd buy that 1975 Mercury Marquis off of his hands for $12,000. I'm a guy who's mostly into 70's vehicles, 80's, 90's even the 2000's! Also a couple from the 1940's and 50's. But what really like about it is the suspension, probably seems pretty fun to rock it side to side actually. People may think this beautiful sedan is "ugly" and "outdated" per say, but I say that it's pretty cool looking and I don't care what people think.

Well I just bought one a couple weeks ago for 300 bucks! I just have to find an engine and transmission and a few other parts for it. The body is super straight and nice though.
My great uncle owned a 77 Thunderbird too. Its basically the same, the mercury Lincoln and Ford's, but his was like riding on a cloud. So much woodgrain, leather, nice am/FM radio, it actually got ok gas milage, one of the sliding headlights didn't work, it was stuck up. Same color, white landau top. Got wrecked in an accident and scrapped. You can get these bad boys for under $5000 good condition easy. I daily drive a 1937 Pontiac silver streak to highschool haha. It backfired until I swapped out the spark plugs then it was good
I used to drive a 10th gen Thunderbird that bounced up and down just like this Marquis, if my mom saw me on the street or was driving behind me she would always remind me of how funny the car looked from the outside just jumping around : D
A couple years ago a car back fired near a school in my area and the whole building went on lock down because they thought it was a school shooter. Pretty sad how paranoid everyone has become.

And I don't really like that grungy crap either, but that came out of just about every big city in the 90s, not just Portland and Salem, so you can't really blame us for that either. Paid 20 bucks fer it an a carton of Marlboro reds fer it back in 05. Drove it til 2015 when someone decided to set it on fire. When I found out who dun it I stole his brand new Escalade and I sold it to a chop shop fer twenty bucks an a carton of Marlboro blend number 27's.
It probably took a ton of work to make that car run so poorly, and yet so consistently at the same time. It always had to start and run but look and sound like shit doing it.
I'm still trying to figure out how that car backfire and make that loud bang like it did in the movie. Lol 😂 make people fall over like goats that pass out and then back on their feet.
back in the early 70,s in high school got a 1961 Chevy 4 door and a 283 engine it use about one quart of oil for every 500 miles exhaust broke off at the cross over pipe and later only had reverse but still drove it to school for a couple of months, at basket ball games we made sure it was parked next to other teams bus at the end of game so they had perfect blue smoke drifting in the bus

Actually these were great cars if you kept them up. I had a friend who had a tow package on his and he towed a 35 foot trailer from Puyallup Washington to Tucson Arizona every year.

Christ man, I've been trying to find that out too. I've looked up no end of stuff about the soundtrack. It's not Lavern Baker, or Perry Como or Ray Anthony, I know that. The track that plays when Miles is washing the pots is 'Thunderbird' by Ray Anthony but the track from the school drop off scene is similar, with the same bad ass sax playing, but it's not that track. Bear with me, I'll find out and check back here . . .

When the engines run a little hot and low on oil tend to deform internal parts so that why dont wanted to start again with new parts

You can mess with the ignition timing so it sparks when the exhaust valve is open so it backfires like that

back in the early 70,s in high school got a 1961 Chevy 4 door and a 283 engine it use about one quart of oil for every 500 miles exhaust broke off at the cross over pipe and later only had reverse but still drove it to school for a couple of months, at basket ball games we made sure it was parked next to other teams bus at the end of game so they had perfect blue smoke drifting in the bus

Actually these were great cars if you kept them up. I had a friend who had a tow package on his and he towed a 35 foot trailer from Puyallup Washington to Tucson Arizona every year.

Christ man, I've been trying to find that out too. I've looked up no end of stuff about the soundtrack. It's not Lavern Baker, or Perry Como or Ray Anthony, I know that. The track that plays when Miles is washing the pots is 'Thunderbird' by Ray Anthony but the track from the school drop off scene is similar, with the same bad ass sax playing, but it's not that track. Bear with me, I'll find out and check back here . . .
@@alexdelarge5373 It's actually a combination of 2 songs. I stumbled across it one time looking for the song that's playing in the background of the diner scene. Can't remember the 2 songs they combined to get it but that should give you a push in the right direction.
The drums are sample of Impeach The President but the sax is sadly unknown.
