    Are there concerns for a heel hook ?

      In your gym, maybe, competition, no. It's not legal in the GI anywhere.

      It's different angle here. His hips can't push your knee to do heel hook and heel feels far to reach when knee is o stomach

      It would be one heck of a fight with all of that pressure on the belly, plus he actually could tuck that foot and put even more weight on your midsection.
      I use a knee shield pass that is similar in the fact that you changed the angle just like he did in the beginning, but you actually SIT on the person, not just a knee on belly, pretty much same thing.
      Sitting allows you to tuck the foot so it can't get heel hooked. So in nogi, the tech might be a bit risky if not done like the knee shield pass I mention which is a nogi pass.
      But as heel hooks are illegal in most if not all gi comps so no worry of the heel hook. However, I feel if you were to apply the sitting style which allows the foot tuck, this would work just the same. I will try it out this week.
