agreed, Zeppelin's sound was the sum of its parts....Thats the beauty of the band in that each member was so damn good at what they did they combined like Voltron. It was Pages band in that he intitiated the group and together with Peter Grant shaped their direction. JPJ wrote his fair share of Zepps classics and was no slouch in the studio either, tis worth noting that JPJ had been studio session player long before Page got his start.
I definitely think he has his own sound and that he does it VERY well. No one else sounds like Dave on drums, maybe Taylor Hawkins, but that's because I imagine Dave still writes the drum parts
john paul jones had some sick crazy purple guitar, with what i believe was a chaos pad (same as matt bellamy). didnt use it at the gig, but i cant imagine why he'd have it on the guitar if it wont feature on the album
Now also Jimmy Page is making another super group with Ian Paice, Jack Bruce and Paul Rodgers on vocals! not true... but it would be a dream come true!
Either or, really, as they were both the primary songwriters for LZ. I just said Plant because he was a main songwriter AND the lead singer, like Josh. But then again, Page was the biggest contributor to the band AND the lead guitarist, which also applies to Josh. In reality, I think Page made the overall LZ sound, and JPJ has obviously been hugely influenced by it and brought it to TCV. If Josh were to replace Page, LZ would sound COMPLETELY different, whereas without Plant it wouldn't.
Very true. I admire Grohl for his power, and he clearly has the ability to to do something more complex but it wouldnt work with this music. Drummers like Neil Peart and Jon Theodore like to throw all of their technical ability at what their playing, but it works with the bands they play with.
Grr I'm sooooooo disappointed they're not coming to Ireland!! A combo of artists from my three favourite bands of all time and I don't get to see them =(
