Every time I see that Luscombe it reminds me of my old VW bus. Nothing luxurious about it, just a metal tube with gauges and wheels, you can feel every rattle and bump 😄
If our pathetic education industry actually taught people how to think instead of bashing them with propaganda maybe people could see through the obvious nonsense for themselves.
I was watching as they put up the barrier to shunt the water aside. Some of the white powder mentioned was sand that was washed down from the barrier. I saw it as it was happening. I really wished I could have been right there to see up close what those seams and surfaces looked like - plus I always like to play in the water. At first it looked like there were caulk or gaskets coming out of the seams and then it dried up. I think that was an optical illusion, but I sure would have loved to have been up close with a camera. I will be interested to see if the pattern repeats itself next time they turn the water on and off again. Another issue that people have asked about is that they see water coming out of what looks to be a spot where it shouldn't be, but I'm guessing that this was an issue from when the seams from the side were carrying water off to the side away from the main shunted area. It may look like it comes from underneath from the camera angles we are being shown. Close up pictures and descriptions would clear things like this up immediately and give people actual information. The lack of any Press Release about when they put the stairway up and shunted water aside for their inspections really was the problem of DWR not thinking anyone would care what was going on, but they should know by now that people are watching and curious. Please remind them that we're just interested and want to be informed of things and not be kept in the dark until days later. Saying something days later you've let the radicals and crank bait artists to take the lead.

Hi Juan: Happy Easter. I met KKUG at Carrizo on 4/05/19 after a 78 mile Enduro ride on my KTM 350 XCFW. My friend and I were loading up when Ken stopped and spoke with us. Not sure why I asked him if he knew KKUG. He handed me his decal and I mentioned I watch your channel and saw the Anza Borrego video. Small world. Love the videos. Hope to see one of Carrizo. Regards Victor
I know that after spending that kind of taxpayer money to rebuild it after the first release there should not be sandbags diverting water away from cracks in the spillway which there is if you see the latest video
I never add any comments, but I stumbled onto a channel (S.W.) and couldn’t believe it. It felt a little like a cult following. Bless their heart......
Juan, could you explain to us why they're diverting the water to one side of the dam and not using the full spillway? The inspection is supposed to have been over already so I was just curious as to why the diversion was still necessary.
Thanks for the videos. Referencing this article, Wikipedia says spillway repairs about $400 million, not 1.1 billion."The Oroville Dam Disaster Will End Up Costing About $400 Million"

May 27th now, temps in low to high 80’s this wk, 90’s next! Snow will melt fast, lake is at 894” which is 99.3%. Does this not look like 2017? Spillway will be opened soon & will not emergency overflow began to see the same? Why the no problem approach you are portraying?
From John born in Oroville 1962 I know an Oroville Dam Engineer personally that just happens to go to my Church And he told me The spillway is 10' feet thick now with massive rebar all the way through it. Not 2' feet thick like before with hardly any rebar. The spillway is safer than it's ever been. Even is the spillway did break there's solid bedrock under it. I have no fear living below this Dam. So relax and don't worry !
So glad you cleared up the false stories. The problem with these stories is that they can be presented in ways that cause people to believe there is truth in them. We all fall into these traps and arr very grateful for all your debunking of said reports. When I followed all the work that was done to fix up the spill way I was simply amazed at the quality and dedication to perfection that was put into every aspect of the work. Thanks again for your excellent feedback on the false stories. Love your channel.
Those bevels between the concrete slabs are fascinating though, because you'd think that would invite erosion vs. a perfectly smooth surface. Is there an engineering reason behind it, something to modulate the flow, or just how the blocks come together?
It never fails to amaze me how stupid some people can be... and thanks for the update. I'm really interested to see the results of the inspection. I'm guessing everything is going to pass with flying colours since the dam is now hugely overbuilt and the water flow was slow - but if the inspection results get released, can you do a video on them?
Juan why did they not turn the spillway toward the downstream? Or even start a piping project to take water to other spill ways further away? (I guess thatvwouldve been cost prohibitive.) At a few hundred feet seems maybe so fountains akat the bottom that folks could visit. I just hate tonse that water doing nothing at above capacity. :) Thanks for your common sense approach to engineering.
Thanks, Juan, for your correct information and addressing the trolls who are a threat to our free way of life. Your reports on Oroville and Boeing are most helpful and aid us in being well-informed citizens. Dean from Minnesota

The moderators on that chat are quick to ban and kick you off when you try to explain what is going with the reconstruction as they don't want to listen to anything positive about what you have to say. She is down and being hacked now,.. I think that the hate that she has generated is coming home to roost.
It's a shame that we can't trust the main stream news? That's why I like your reports! Thanks again for your truth, Juan.
will you be putting together a video of your family trip to the super bloom.?????
Thanks Juan. I have seen at least one channel giving a report of something bad going on at the dam. If I hadn't followed your reporting I would probably believe what they were saying. I'm glad that you have done such a thorough job of reporting on the progress of the rebuild work.
Thanks Juan! I saw that on a RUclips video, looked at the title and the name of the channel and wouldn't even go near it. I knew it was just as you said, a troll. I knew that with all the work that went into the new spillway that nothing was happening to it. Now I know for sure from you that they were inspecting it and letting the water levels come up in the lake. I have a hard time believing some people out there put out such rubbish. But then some people like to cause trouble. Thanks for all you do Juan!! Great video once again. :-D
Thank you Juan and I don't even live near Cali but I can't stand fake news trolls just the same. I watched your videos about the new spillway and knew you would reply!!
Juan, in one of your previous updates. Did you not say the DWR was going to do a ramp up test followed by a close inspection? If they already released that information then the trolls must obviously be ignoring the DWR.
How deep was the water flowing on the spillway during the test run?
Maybe 12 to 15 inches.
Now we can place bets on HOW HIGH the lake level will go!!! I'm curious if it will get up to the 2016 peak of 891 feet. That snow pack will still be melting well into late May.
Juan,
Everything is good here from the easterside of Oroville. The lake is full and the public is confident and happy. Cudos to you for your consist, non-biased reporting for the last few years. I’d love to meet you some time when you come to Oroville!
Let’s hope for a nice calm summer!
I’ll wave the next time I hear you flying over.
Thanks Joe!
Thanks Juan.Truth is a Good thing.
Thanks for doing this, Juan.
I'm wondering if these absurd "reports" are more that the trolls are abysmally ignorant -- or that they are indeed knowledgeable but malicious and trying create panic.
I suspect it's a combination of the two.
Keep up the great work!!
like our soc. dems.....................
Nothing more than mining for dollars, would be my guess. More sensational headline = more likes & subscribers = more ad revenue. They probably couldn’t care less about the veracity of it. The sensationalism is just an easy (lazy) way to collect views.
Juan, on the other hand, does a great job, and brings his natural diligence to bear on every topic he covers.
THE government HAS AUTHORIZED the use of propaganda for all political and journalistic writers under freedom of the press and opinion as you well know...
Every time I see that Luscombe it reminds me of my old VW bus. Nothing luxurious about it, just a metal tube with gauges and wheels, you can feel every rattle and bump 😄
Yep, and not much cabin heat...
Enjoy the Easter weekend Juan Brown Family.
If our pathetic education industry actually taught people how to think instead of bashing them with propaganda maybe people could see through the obvious nonsense for themselves.
Hopefully there will be video from the vacay. Great report as usual
It was worth the wait to get the facts from you. Thank you.
Thank you for the beautiful pictures of your family trip. And the spill way is an incredible and artistic achievement. Praise God!
Juan is the BEST on uTube for his accurate, well thought out, fact checked, unbiased, plain and simple coverage, with views none can hold a candle to, "The Might Luscome." & co-Pilot Pete. Just being Juan was enough to convert me from the very beginning of my doubts.
Great Work Juan. Thank You so much for these invaluable reports.
how high do they let it fill?
I watched something about the spillway yesterday. I even watched your really great family experience of the spillway with the mist rushing off of it. Luckily today you put out this vid. Hopefully people will either go to the location and check, or see your work and get the facts. We all see things a bit differently, so it's good to see the many sides. God has blessed your family. Y
Sanity and honesty prevail at last!
Again, thank you for your great reporting on this project.
Look up the RUclips video titled Oroville Dam Spillway shutdown update 4/18/19
I never add any comments, but I stumbled onto a channel (S.W.) and couldn’t believe it. It felt a little like a cult following. Bless their heart......
Juan, could you explain to us why they're diverting the water to one side of the dam and not using the full spillway? The inspection is supposed to have been over already so I was just curious as to why the diversion was still necessary.
Thanks for the videos. Referencing this article, Wikipedia says spillway repairs about $400 million, not 1.1 billion."The Oroville Dam Disaster Will End Up Costing About $400 Million"
Don't assume ill will when ignorance and stupidity also can explain human behavior.
Thank you Juan.
I appreciate the excellent reporting and coverage you did on the Oroville dam. In addition you have described the Boeing issues clearly, no axe to grind and again better than any of the "regular" news outlets. Your videography of the super bloom was wonderful.Your music is really good and appropriate for the subject at hand. Kudos. May you have many more wonderful Rosebud moments with the grand kids, and the mighty Lascome, and the KTM/ service buddies group! Did you drive down the "new Mexican non toll road " from Puertecitas ? How was the spillway constructed to avoid cavitation this time? Trolls, and name callers take note what Blacolirio does, and compare it to your numbers.Quality content is appreciated.
Thank you once again for another awesome video always love it when you post videos and keep those wings up in the air
Hi Juan thanks for bringing up to date with Orville dam spillway and I live in Australia I have watched all the reports you have done on RUclips
Thanx Juan for your update. I had read a few of 'those' statements and I was waiting to hear what you had to say. Thank you for the Intelligent update.
Thanks Juan, informative as always. Always enjoy flying with you on here in The Mighty Luscombe. Your scenery is much more beautiful than what I see when I fly the Warrior here in Wisconsin.
Keep up the good work! I’m sick of the trolls.
25,000 CFS??? I thought it was to run full at 175,000 CFS. LET US KNOW IF/WHEN IT BLOWS APART! thanks
May 27th now, temps in low to high 80’s this wk, 90’s next! Snow will melt fast, lake is at 894” which is 99.3%. Does this not look like 2017? Spillway will be opened soon & will not emergency overflow began to see the same? Why the no problem approach you are portraying?
Because there is no problem.
Where's the intro music? Still a good job!
Hey can u give an update on the spillways. I live in Pittsburgh an been following it since 2017. Now I hear no nothing about it.
Oh, didn't they do two tests of the spillway so far, one low volume and then a higher volume? I saw two different reports by you, Juan.
Ah I found where they explain this: ruclips.net/video/kqnlRewPfes/видео.html
It never fails to amaze me how stupid some people can be... and thanks for the update. I'm really interested to see the results of the inspection. I'm guessing everything is going to pass with flying colours since the dam is now hugely overbuilt and the water flow was slow - but if the inspection results get released, can you do a video on them?
Will do!
blancolirio awesome!
