i remember when this game first came out, I came home from school one day, i walked into my room, and for absolutly no reason this game and a bag of Hershey kisses was sitting on my bed, it was a fantastic surprise from my parents, miss my childhood. but lots of great memories.
I love when parents do that stuff they don't say hey you want this no after a long jar day a school lmao you come in to see amazing changes in your room like a game or even one time a mother ducking bike
I asked my parents for a TV to play or Genesis on, they be like "Yeah maybe later." 2 weeks later I walk into the garage to check out the TV, I freak out because it's gone and it's garbage day, and then I slowly and sadly make the ascent to my room, where I see a Magnavox television with a screen smaller than my tablet sitting on the floor. That happened yesterday, btw :D
Wow 1992 when this game came out.... we didn't have the internet yet.... Used to spend hours playing..... And at night you got a flashlight turned off the volume just so you could play in the dark when you should have been sleeping....
This is why I love mark's reviews, he just has an awesome sense of humour! Man this game is awesome and terribly underrated. So glad a repurchased it on my 3DS!
It's from the Super Game Boy, a peripheral that worked on the SNES, it was like a cartridge you put in the console, with a smaller slot on top to insert the gameboy cartridge to then play the Gameboy game on the TV screen. It offered customisation for like four colors, the option to draw on your screen and to have a variety of frames around the border such as the one you see there. Not sure if there is actually an emulator for this..
I remember getting a gameboy for a birthday present as a kid and this was one of the games I got with it, such a great game.....I now play this in my canoo
Ah, this game! One of my favorites, and I still own the cartridge. I first got into it during a looong car ride on the way to the Grand Canyon when I was maybe eight years old. My dad was so keen on giving the family a tour of the great outdoors, but I kept my face glued to my Gameboy screen for almost the entire trip. Fresh air? Graceful wildlife? Geological wonders? Ain't nobody got time for that! I'm in the middle of collecting six gold coins here, dad!

A common complaint at the time was that the motion blur on the Gameboy screen made it difficult to play - such as when you jump on an ememys head but then die because you couldnt see it had spikes on. You also missed most of the detail in the larger sprites, the first game fit the limited screen a lot better.
Gameboy Colors and Gameboy Advances would automatically put colour into older games. You could change the colour that it used too, but pressing some button combinations shortly after turning the handheld on.
I remember tearing my Grandma's living room apart looking for this game. I bought it on ebay a few months ago One week later, I got the game, looked in my desk drawer, and saw my original copy.
Hey another Outdoor Simulation Wall. Very nice I have one my self though it is the 7000 model. Kinda old and sometimes you have to give it a few taps but it gets the job done.
The Outdoor Simulation Wall 9000 is a great addition to the arcade! It must be nice to look out the window and get a taste of home instead of a reminder that you're adrift in the vast, cold emptiness of space.
At the very least, I do know that the save battery can be changed. There are videos on the internet, on how to do it, where to buy one etc. I've even seen a person on ebay, willing to lend their soldering skills, to help people in need of installing a good save battery.
I haven't had much of a chance to play a lot of gameboy games, but out of all the gameboy games I have played, this one is definitely my favorite thus far.
Definitely one of the top ten best Game Boy games. I sold my copy years ago, but I had a lot of fun with it in the 90s. Incidentally, Mark, if the battery in your copy of the game hasn't been changed in a long time, that could account for the spontaneous save-deletion. It's remarkable that the games have any save functionality at all after so long, but those old 2032 cells won't last forever. You can replace it yourself with some soldering or go through a third-party like eStarland.
If you've had the cart for a long time, my guess is the battery inside the cartridge died out (they typically last 20 years at most); I don't think you'll be able to save on that cart unless you take it apart and put in a new battery (there are plenty of tutorials online that show you how). Or just download the 3DS version and never worry about losing your save to dead batteries again. Honestly, either option is fine.
My first and favorite Game Boy game. Then again, my adult brain is only just now finally able to comprehend how to play Link's Awakening, so that game may take the title away. Like Ocarina of Time, I intend to beat the game without a walkthrough. It took me 20 years to get to the 4th dungeon. We're close to review #3000, aren't we? 3029 vids, but I know there's about 50 Inecom promotional videos for your documentaries. I wish I knew the secret to CGR's mass quantity and quality. So many reviews
you could have got more than 30 bucks on ebay if the game is brand new in-box like you said. collectors go wild for kinda stuff and will folk out a heap
Ah, this one's nostalgic. I suppose it's fairly short and easy nowadays, but it was quite fun, with secrets that felt so very satisfying to find. The nice thing about these old games is that the secrets really felt like secrets, but I digress... Misc. thoughts: The giant statue of Mario is pretty neat, with the lego designs and all. We never saw Bunny Mario again, afaik. The Star Maze music is really catchy.
Brayand Romero that was actually one of the several frames you can choose from when playing a Game Boy game on the Super Game Boy, an SNES add-on that lets you play... well, Game Boy games. If only i had one😔
i was replaying this game a few months ago, then came out black ops 2 third DLC and i quit playing SML2 for a couple of days then when i load the game to finish it i noticed that game data has gone! sad story but thats how cartridges work
I just bought this game a few weeks ago. Have yet to play it. I had the original SML on the original GB 20-something years ago...Dunno what I'm waiting for.
does anybody know how to get to the titlescreen again after completeing the game? i am stuck in the damn credits. playing on the 3DS. pressed all buttons but the credit screen wont end. music keeps on plaing
Great review! I don't believe a cartridge with a battery for game saving can have it saves deleted by cleaning the cartridge contacts with the old q-tip and alcohol method.

Sure its easy but then its still fun to replay again and again. I love this game! Still have the original cartridge
Wow 1992 when this game came out.... we didn't have the internet yet.... Used to spend hours playing..... And at night you got a flashlight turned off the volume just so you could play in the dark when you should have been sleeping....
+CoolSkeleton91 why
2019 and I did that.
Safe to say that I was obsessed with this game
Great new intro. "Outdoor simualitino wall 9000" @ 4:28 very nice detail.
i actually thought this game was pretty decently long for a game boy game
This is why I love mark's reviews, he just has an awesome sense of humour! Man this game is awesome and terribly underrated. So glad a repurchased it on my 3DS!
I used to play this all the time! As a matter of fact I played through and beat it again today. Very good game!!
One of my fav games of all time :)
I need one of those outdoor simulation wall 9000s for my space station.
I like how nintendo had made a costum colorpallet for this game on the gameboycolor.
the music was what seriously made this game magical for me as a child. amazing how gameboy music still sounds good after all these years.

4:31 "outdoor simulation wall 9000" Looks like he misses Earth from his InterGalactic Space Arcade.
I remember getting a gameboy for a birthday present as a kid and this was one of the games I got with it, such a great game.....I now play this in my canoo
A very underrated game! It was absolutely brilliant. I also really enjoyed the sequel where you played as Wario :)
Lol at the outdoor simulation wall 9000. Nice work, Mark!
the first super mario game i played and i still enjoy playing it

Ahh, so much nostalgia. Despite the game coming about 5 years before I was born, it was still my first video game
A common complaint at the time was that the motion blur on the Gameboy screen made it difficult to play - such as when you jump on an ememys head but then die because you couldnt see it had spikes on. I just give thumbs up for marks videos every time i click on the CGR icon on the main youtube screen without a thought even if i dont like the game.
Gameboy Colors and Gameboy Advances would automatically put colour into older games. You could change the colour that it used too, but pressing some button combinations shortly after turning the handheld on.
hey Mark. I saw an el camino for sale here. should I buy it?
where can i get my very own Outdoor Simulation Wall 9000 Mark?
Perhaps Home Depot has one in stock : ).
I have so many memories from this game as a child, then I got Wario Land...another amazing game. These series were great for the Game Boy!
love the outdoor simulation wall 9000 that's some fancy technology you have in space
I remember tearing my Grandma's living room apart looking for this game.
I bought it on ebay a few months ago
One week later, I got the game, looked in my desk drawer, and saw my original copy.
ive been waiting for you to review this great game for a while now

This is the first ever Mario game I've played when I was young, and also what got me into videogames to this day. Awesome memories!
Does it seem like the view count on all videos is lower now?
At the very least, I do know that the save battery can be changed. There are videos on the internet, on how to do it, where to buy one etc. I've even seen a person on ebay, willing to lend their soldering skills, to help people in need of installing a good save battery.

good to see the intergalactic space arcade has a nice healthy looking lawn outside.
This game, Zelda Links Awakening, Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Land, Kirby's Dreamland, Tetris, ... great memories :')
I completely forgot about this game until watching this review. Ah, the memories.
Really applaud you for making it this long mark, and for the new graphics, love spending time is the intergalactic space arcade :P
is that missile command in the editing room ?
review the missile command cabinet! heck, we need a tour of the whole place!
Where can i get me one of those outdoor simulation wall's.
He didn't list this at the beginning but will this work on the Game boy Color, i thought all original game boy games could work on the GBC?
The first game I ever beat by myself! I bought a boxed copy to honor it recently, nice job Mark!
Definitely one of the top ten best Game Boy games. I sold my copy years ago, but I had a lot of fun with it in the 90s.

One of my favorite gameboy game when I was a kid.
Mark, my Super Mario Land 2 I bought on ebay from Japan just arrived.
THANKS SO MUCH for teh review!!!
Brings me back to the early 2000s, when I would be sitting in my car playing this or Killer Instinct on my Gameboy Color
My first Mario game too. One of the first games I was ever able to beat. Oh the memories.
Nice review. . .I see you flashing Alisia Dragoon on the SEGA Genesis...hhmmm, could that be your next Classic Game Room review?
5:14 that was the greatest effect of all-time
Gotta get me one of those outdoor simulation walls.
One of the first games I ever clocked thanks for the memories
I love playing that when I was a kid. Love your new place!

Do you have to replace battery to save?
Downloaded this on the VC, awesome game! I remember playing this on my friends old Gameboy when I was like 10, I used to love this game!
you could have got more than 30 bucks on ebay if the game is brand new in-box like you said. collectors go wild for kinda stuff and will folk out a heap
That ending was gold.
how many video games do you have
I played this game over 20 years ago and I recently bought it for the 3DS 3 days ago...best purchase ever along with Donkey Kong for the Gameboy!!!
This game was so special back then. It looked and felt a lot like Super Mario World.
And this man, ladies and gentleman is the most bizarre and awesome reviewer in youtube!
New fan here, been really enjoying your well put together videos.
The Mario Land games were my favorite as a kid. I didn't own the original Nintendo home consoles but I did have a Gameboy and played it to death lol.
Do you know about the secret ending where the gameboy turns into a wonderswan?
Ah, this one's nostalgic. I suppose it's fairly short and easy nowadays, but it was quite fun, with secrets that felt so very satisfying to find. The nice thing about these old games is that the secrets really felt like secrets, but I digress...

How do you play it with colors on emulators?
Love the new intros!!
Hey Mark, you should play Valkyrie Profile 2. I reall want to know your thoughts on it.
How much is that outdoor simulation wall 9000 worth?
In 1999, whenever Pokémon Red wasn't in my cartridge slot this usually was.
I remember playing this on the Super Gameboy, I know this games levels like the back of my hand.
question where do you get all your gameboy games i try to look on ebay but they cost allot
This was my favourite GameBoy game when I was a kid :)
My childhood...and my very first video game I ever beat on my own.
Mark, you upgraded the Inter-Galactic Space Arcade just so you could park the El Camino behind you in every review, didn't you?
Hahahaha outdoor simulation wall 9000! How's space mark?
That ending was awesome , now i need to finish that game , and get the secret ending to unlock the Vectrex
After you're done with Wario's Castle, you are allowed to call yourself a hardcore gamer.
2:48
from where is that frame? Is from an emulator? The virtual console? A custom Gameboy Player frame? Somebody pls respond.
Brayand Romero that was actually one of the several frames you can choose from when playing a Game Boy game on the Super Game Boy, an SNES add-on that lets you play... well, Game Boy games. If only i had one😔
Omg that was like my most favorite gb game ever!!!!
I had it since I was like 6.......
And I still have the original cartridge 13 odd years later :)
I have played it back then, my favourite Mario-game on the GameBoy.
i was replaying this game a few months ago, then came out black ops 2 third DLC and i quit playing SML2 for a couple of days then when i load the game to finish it i noticed that game data has gone! sad story but thats how cartridges work
I just bought this game a few weeks ago. Have yet to play it. I had the original SML on the original GB 20-something years ago...Dunno what I'm waiting for.
that was a brilliant game and still holds up well today imo.
When is classic game room going to upgrade to "Super Classic Game room"? Then later to "Super Classic Game Room Turbo"?
does anybody know how to get to the titlescreen again after completeing the game? i am stuck in the damn credits. playing on the 3DS. pressed all buttons but the credit screen wont end. music keeps on plaing
Great review!
I don't believe a cartridge with a battery for game saving can have it saves deleted by cleaning the cartridge contacts with the old q-tip and alcohol method.
2:52 how did u make it look like the pepole were watching the game in a movie theater?
Super Game Boy for SNES has different borders.
I love Mark's humour.
Outdoor Simulation Wall 9000. Very nice Mark.
great intro Mark!!
It'd be cool if they brought back the Rabbit power up for newer Mario games. I really like it in this game.
i played the heck out of this game in the early 90's one of the all time greats
Alisia Dragoon is awesome! Review coming soon???
Haaaaa, he would whip that out at the end! I love this channel.
