Multiple serious head injuries plus synthetic weed? Yea, that's a recipe for disaster.
@You are correct But You'd know the person needs extensive therapy.
@You are correct But Which is plenty. More than one therapist knew.
@You are correct But Most of us are not. But we're not diagnosing anyone, just speculating about situation like this.
Ive had two head injuries maybe have CTE and smoked K2 I had a psychosis state thought my family was spies as well
But I am not violent like Cosmo
To all the people complaining about Dr. Grande's jokes... It may help to recognize that people who have to deal with human suffering on a daily basis (e.g., psychotherapists, policemen, EMT's, soldiers, etc.) often use macabre humor as a coping mechanism. Yes, that kind of humor can easily seem nonsensical and cruel to outsiders. But it makes a lot more sense when you realize that people in those sorts of occupations are usually just trying to deal with being exposed to that much tragedy. A lot of the time it boils down to a choice between either collapsing in tears... or laughing awkwardly and getting through the day. But of course, if you just collapse, then you won't be able to do any good for anyone.
@@ericachitwood2465 Well, I guess I'm more interested in understanding why people like Dr. Grande tell those sorts of jokes than I am in trying to prohibit them. As I see it, that's because understanding is a much more effective force for human transformation than repression or prohibition or censorship is -- especially at the level of our darker and more unsettling impulses (such as our desires to mock other people).
@V Law black humor is a way of coping & also get points across, even authors are prone to use it, classic examples of black humor include the novel Catch-22 (about the absurdity of war), and the film Dr. Strangelove (a comedy that ends with nuclear destruction)
@@ericachitwood2465 The key word to your argument is sensitivity, and you need to stop being so But-hert. Tens, if not Hundreds of Thousands of people benefit from Grande's spin every day. There are two rules of public speaking that apply here: 1. You can't please everyone and 2. You cannot publicly use humor without pissing somebody off.
Dampening the negative aspects of life with humor can be analogous to talking someone off the ledge. Content creators (& apparently you) don't realize the impact their words can have on everyday viewer's. Humor (Dark or Not) actually saves lives: Daily! Humor can help take the edge off, lead a person back towards a more grounded outlook on their issues and challenges. My therapist personally drilled this home for me on day one. To lay the groundwork towards improving- I needed to step back and look at my situation in context, and also understand that my journey was not unique. Her warm delivery and joy showed me that the grass just-might-be greener on the other side- all the while making clinically dry and arduous improvement techniques more palatable.
One stoicly-inflexible, quick-2b-Pissed, tox-sic uTube commenter, enthroned on their couch (...probably covered in Doritos) should not be catered to in light of the benefit that comes from the good doctors daily gift to us all. Overly-sensitive people need to lighten up by allowing themselves to be stretched. You are the one that needs to change. There is nothing wrong with Dr. Grande's delivery: Dr. Grande is a national treasure.

@@ericachitwood2465 If you can’t find the humor in the absurdity of human mental health then you don’t belong here. There’s plenty of other more “serious” RUclips channels for you to consume. Leave Dr. Grande alone. I for one, as someone who suffers from several mental health conditions, appreciates Dr. Grande and his sense of humor. I don’t find it inappropriate at all, and he has held back on the humor in more serious videos. So anyone criticizing him obviously doesn’t understand his channel. Please don’t go after a creator who is actually a good person. There’s plenty of crappy people on RUclips and Dr. Grande is not one of them
It's a pretty safe bet to say that the repeated head injuries had a big part to play in all of this.
Sadly yes. Football is king at many middle schools and high schools.
K2 didn’t help that’s for sure
The sheer complexity of our brain guarantees that they are sensitive and fragile.
I can't help but wonder about the fact that he was also a psychopath? To be able to lure 4 young men and kill them makes me feel like he knew what he was doing. Usually people who have schizophrenia do not know what they are doing.
I ran into a sweet ex bf that I had not seen in 20 years. We had lunch and caught up when he told me he was in a psyche ward for a year after he held a bus driver at knifepoint. He doesn't remember, but he was told he was yelling that the driver was taking them all to hell. :( . Thank goodness nothing happened to the driver and he got the meds he needed after being diagnosed with schizophrenia. When we were younger he used to suffer from seasonal depression but other than that, a normal guy until his 30's.

This is so sad that even one therapist thought he wasn't in or could cause violence!! I realize the huge amount of hoops that exist within the medical industry. I had to hospitalize a family member with bipolar disorder, and it was traumatic. It's so hard.
Thank you so much Dr. Grande

@@aethelwolfe3539 I totally agree with you! History of head trauma and Cozmo has started acting aggressive and violent-ordering an MRI seems like it should be standard process!
I have bipolar disorder. Most people with bipolar disorder or not dangerous enough to be hospitalized and that’s probably why it was so difficult for you because the healthcare professionals wanted to make sure they weren’t hospitalizing somebody who didn’t need it. Especially just on the word of a family member. I’m kind of glad that it was more difficult for you to get them in the hospital than it seems to be for other people to just be shoved and locked away into a mental health facility because family doesn’t wanna deal with them
I live 2 miles from where this happened, and my husband grew up on a property close to the Dinardo property. My hairdresser’s sister is married to Cosmo’s cousin. They report that he was a great kid and suddenly changed after a head injury. They also think the health care professionals didn’t do a good job. Thanks so much for posting this. 👏🏻

@@stephaniemomma yeah, but it still counts as working in medicine. He practiced in psychotherapy, I believe, he’s licensed to, at any rate, and he teaches something to do with this. This ticks enough boxes to count as working in medicine.
I think his best joke in this video, is that neon shirt he is wearing. I think he should keep it though, put it with his tire changing kit in his vehicle; throw it on, so people don't run over him.
Wow I gotta say this case hits home. I live in Bensalem (a suburb in Bucks County, PA where this happened on the boarder of Philly) I remember I had just gotten home from school when I saw the story in the news. My heart dropped because these are local kids. I could’ve passed Cosmo on the street, on the bus, in the store. And it hurts me even more to know that I have friends who are friends of the victims. Always stay aware of your surroundings you never really know who people are.
I came here to say the same. I’m from northeast Philly and knew people who knew the victims. Even though crazy stuff happens in Philly and the suburbs this is definitely the case that sticks in my mind the most. 😞
My sister went to Catholic school and knew one of the victims and the perpetrator’s sister. Bucks County is a small area, but the Catholic school community is even smaller
Same here. From south Philly but ventured up to Bensalem a few years back. The farm was also close in proximity to my then boss’ house.
I went to Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. Cosmo lived in a beautiful area. I always hoped to open a small animal sanctuary in Bucks County. The fact that I couldn't is a huge regret.
We were stuck to the tv, hearing Jim Gardener report on the case that evening. It was surreal.
The therapist should have never taken him off of the medication.
@@hansslane7080 I'm very rightwing yet still smoke... those who have psychotic breaks from pot would probably have issues anyway
DiNardo’s case is very tragic. Many people’s lives could have been saved, including DiNardo’s, if he’d been institutionalized. If the government is looking for a monetary reason, the people that were murdered no longer pay taxes, and no longer buy goods.
Good point.
An immeasurable cost is the amount of stress and wasted time for the non-insane victims when they cross with the unfacilitated insane. It's very disruptive and damaging to those of us who are just trying to raise families and make our ways through already difficult days. I feel the same way about drug addicts who commit decades of crimes and are never helped by rehab.
(and please note I do have empathy and care for the mentally insane and addicts - I help train the intellectually disabled and voluntarily put myself in harm's way in order to help them have advocacy and opportunities. But some just need constant supervision in controlled environments for the safety of themselves and others.)
@@betsybarnicle8016 I agree. Placing insane people in a prison system is a losing proposition as well. wWe are placing people who are sane, and may have a chance at rehab, and placing them next to insane people. The environment can be hellish for a poor reason. The insane don’t get needed treatment, and the sane either prey on them, and/or are highly frustrated listening to totally illogical banter, etc..
Yesss he should have been in a INSTITUTION!! For sure!
....and taxpayers will now be feeding and housing these "men" for the rest of their lives. Also, the four victims won't be paying taxes nor contributing to society in any way....etc.

"Oh this guy has been involuntarily hospitalized multiple times for being criminally insane and was driving around with a shotgun? Let him go you made a mistake on the paperwork"-The Worst Judge in History
That's the fault of the police, not the judge. There's a lot of reasons (good or bad) why police misreporting can lead to the judge releasing someone.
@@audrey-chan6290 The judge has more discretion than you might think.
If judges had zero discretion, EVERY criminal would get off on a technical. No exaggeration, every one.
This case definitely shows how a combination of everything that could go wrong, did. Diagnosing and getting appropriate mental health treatment is complex. It doesn’t help if the authorities “lose the paperwork.” It doesn’t help if mental health personnel are inadequately trained. Family members try to help, but can be let down by their own inadequate knowledge and by the system to whom they turn. I’m glad you highlighted all of these issues, Dr. Grande.

@@lf9341 I don’t really see how he “lured” in his victims. They were all drug deals gone wrong. I think they wanted to keep the money for themselves without giving up their drugs. Life in prison was too good of a sentence for them! They should’ve gotten the death penalty, especially knowing that one of the victims got ran over by a car when he didn’t die right away from the gun shot wounds.
These case hits hard for me, I'm from a town right near outside of Bucks Country, Montgomery Country PA. It's so crazy that this happened right near my home town. My health teacher taught one of the victims, Dean Finocchiaro, who was 19. Dean went to Neshaminy School District and she said that although he had some problems, he was just the sweetest boy ever. He was just the nicest kid and my teacher said that his funeral was certainly the hardest funeral she'd ever had to go to. May all four boys rest in peace.

Good Lord what kind of professional shrink diagnose someone with EVERYTHING???? and then just stop giving them meds like the person was miraculously healed. There are so many really bad psychiatrists it's almost like 'well if you can't be a medical doctor because your incompetent - become a psychiatrists instead!'
Pretty much the same story with Anti NMDA receptor encephalitis, psychiatrist used to get stuck with these patients and they were labeled “treatment resistant schizophrenia,” das how many lives might have been saved if psychiatrist at least pretended to be real doctors order CSF, MRI, EEG, and auto immune tests as part of standard practice.
Most doctors are incompetent lol
@You are correct But Psychiatrists and scientists don't know enough about the brain. That is why the DSM is such a mess. It is educated guesses. They do their best but they have limited knowledge.
@You are correct But A set of symptoms for a diagnosis is the best psychiatry can do right now. I have heard that mental health is about 100 years behind physical health. They don't know for sure what is going on in the brain to cause an illness so they give medicine by symptoms. Maybe 100 years ago you would have gotten similar treatment for a fever, I am not sure.

OMG Dr. Todd, the dark humor delivered with a straight face is both hilarious and chilling at the same time 😂
I grew up in this area & spent much of my adolescence hanging out in New Hope. My little sister knew Cosmo’s sister & said she had learned many sketchy - to say the least - things about the family. I won’t repeat as it’s all alleged. My mother followed this case closely & didn’t talk really for about two weeks because it upset her so much. Some context- We had a double homicide / suicide (so the family member who committed it committed police assisted suicide) in the family on my mom’s side & she - well all of us - are traumatized & she gets upset very easily, understandably. I think the crime being so close to our home that it caught her attention especially & resulted in her being so disturbed. I followed the case closely too - I was at university in NYC at the time - & I still remember the victims’ names. They are etched in my mind. My two sisters & I have an interest (? doesn’t seem like the right word but oh well) with crime as a trauma response & this being close to where we lived & my little sister knowing his sister & having met the family (maybe another element that caused my mother to follow the case so closely) triggered that interest. It’s an extremely upsetting & disturbing case & I can only hope that the families of the lost can find healing, though I know from my experience that we can never heal entirely & it’ll leave scars of course. Cosmo showed many signs & yet again they were missed / ignored. The head injuries I’m sure didn’t help. Look at football players who have killed - & yes I’m counting OJ Simpson; brain injuries can lead to aggression & not only has murder occurred but also domestic violence & a marked change in personality. I wonder if he always had this in him, if he was always capable. Must be, right? It’s not his family’s fault by any means - especially as his mother tried to help him - but I wonder if - being that what I’ve heard from my sister - his family’s alleged behavior played any sort of role, like a blurring of right & wrong. It’s always complicated. One thing I can be pretty sure or- I don’t think it was demons. It was a young man sadly deeply disturbed & let down by the system that was supposed to protect him & others. May the boys be in a better place & may their families find some peace.
That was way too long. No one is ever gonna read it.

Unrelated to this video, but thanks for all you do, Dr. Grande. I am a recently diagnosed autistic and due to my inability to naturally pick up on what others would see as obvious red flags, have been subject to a lot of abuse and manipulation from friends, family, and romantic partners. But thanks to you I recently realized, clear-as-day, that my "best friend" of two decades is a psychopath, specifically Factor I with sadistic tendencies. But due to his high intelligence, he will probably always be "subclinical", i.e. he knows it would simply be impractical to show his true colors. The scariest part of all this is that he himself is a mental health counselor!
It's good that you recognize maltreatment so you can avoid it in the future.
But watching a few psychology videos on RUclips doesn't qualify you to diagnose others.
@@kingayy9267 Of course not. I was merely speculating what could be going on in a situation like mine.
I very well may be wrong, and I am not qualified to diagnose anyone with anything. But for me, to privately utilize the label to refer to a specific person in my life, I have found it helpful in framing my personal situation in a way that helps me handle the situation in a way that is healthiest for me. I.e. avoid this person because their behavior observed over a period of two decades resemble traits associated with the construct of psychopathy.
Good for you Adam to be able to recognize this. There are many psychopaths and they don't all kill.

I vividly remember the "search for missing persons" part of this case. Good morning Drr Grande . First I left a comment yesterday. But it kept disappearing .For today . Great analyst .lm learning so much about mental health disorders. Thank you Dr Grande, you never fail to make my day .
“Pitchfork management” slayed me. 😂😂😂
When I ran a group home for men dealing with Substance Use Disorder and other serious mental health issues, a good portion of the men carried dual diagnoses of "Bipolar/Schizoaffective Disorder." Is that a legitimate diagnosis, or is this an example of a kind of diagnosis-in-progress?
I do think there is a component of “we’re still trying to figure it out” when you see 2 or more mutually exclusive diagnoses listed as in this case. However, another thing that adds to the confusion (ironically, because it was supposed to help reduce confusion in records) is the electronic medical record system.
I have yet to find a software product that doesn’t muddy the diagnostic clarity…there is no way to indicate on the surface that you are still working things out. All you see is a very messy “active problem list”…including distracting things that have not gotten “cleaned up” like “cold symptoms”, “need for flu vaccination”, screening for colon cancer,” etc. A lot of times, clinicians need to put something/anything down to order to do further tests or to bill the visit, even if a final diagnosis hasn’t been established. And no one wants to delete an item if it’s not in their wheelhouse. Many times, medical physicians don’t have access to the mental health documentation, so their charts can only reflect what the patient themselves admit to or what someone accompanying the patient tells the doc based on what they understand to be the case. “My brother was hospitalized with schizo-something.” Not helpful. 🤷♀️ “Alright, well, I’m seeing you for burning with urination and I don’t have time to weed out these details, so as long as you aren’t actively threatening to kill yourself or someone else, we’ll just move on and stick to the immediate issue…pee in this cup and here are some antibiotics.”
@@fayej6591 Thanks so much! That makes a lot of sense (even if the process itself doesn't). That explains many of the diagnoses on our residents' bio-psycho-socials that seemed contradictory or confused.
Yes..good question
We need slot of these homes.
Thing is schizoaffective is literally schizophrenia plus a mood disorder liku bipolar
So diagnosing both schizoaffective and bipolar/schizo on top is kinda pointless, as it's already covered in the schizoaffective diagnosis
It's like diagnosing schizo and delusional disorder separately, it's already covered
Regarding "demons" and "screams in the basement", seriously: I have had that experience as recent as 2 nights ago, but not in my basement. The last house we lived in also had similar screams and horrible, evil sounding noises that always occurred late at night when we were asleep. A family member has a vacation home where over 3 different groups of people have experienced strange rhythmic knocking always beginning around 3:33AM! True story! All except the very last occurrence are recorded! Experts have been brought in, and even though some were expensive, they admitted no amount of exorcisms or blessings will make it stop. Because each and every case has been proven to be wildlife. Ravens at the vacation home. Males arguing for the best spot of the roof. Wildlife conservation officer, after talking to one of my family members and having a hunch, sat in his truck where he could see the roof jutting out above the trees, just before sunrise and saw the behavior. Racoon and her kits in the walls of the brand new kitchen addition through a small tunnel into the crawlspace. Had to use a video scope for that one. And two nights ago after hearing the screams while we were still awake, ran outback to see the opossums "fighting". Not really hurting each other. More like baring their teeth and feigning attacks, with a horrible, horrible scream. Demons! They sure sounded otherworldly, all of them. (Almost forgot about the owl in neighbors large shed next door to vacation home. Owls make horrible noises. Not just the little screech owl, all of them!)
I love your humor and your channel. Thank you.
I'm in Delco and this story was a lot. So much going on and such a tragedy! Thx for your analysis!!
Hi Dr Grande!
You should do a Dennis Reynolds analysis from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia!
Low level narcissist for sure
Diagnosis: Golden God
Love the dry sense of humor delightful💕
“Heavenly”. Humor on POINT as always. Thank you Dr. Grande ✌️💚
Janis Joplin, please. Have a great week everyone.
Have a great week everyone!
Around 14:15 Dr Grande makes the most profound statement about why we take the right to bare arms away from those that are mentally unstable... I know a few I would never allow near any kind of lethal weapon... And there is a reason for that judgement. Those that are in the more violent stages of addiction are more prone in my opinion and personal observation, to criminal behavior that can have lethal consequences. This example here Dr Grande had a big issue with narcotics it sounds like... This kind of behavior isn't random.... It shows signs of planning.. ambush style attacks and murders? Luring thier intended victims to a place where they do what they do.
Yes!
I grew up in suburban NJ beautiful country back in the 70's-80's. Moved to PA for that same feel. Difference is no one had guns in their houses in NJ, at least among my parents friends & neighbors. No one hunted, they all grew up in NYC & commuted back for work. Since moving to PA I can't tell you how many suicides by gun we've had in this same small town as the DeNardo farm. The latest murder in the county happened last night.
@@samanthab1923 do we blame the gun? Or the person pulling the trigger? Personally I do not own a firearm or weapon for my own reasons. But I still have to wonder how people can not blame the dark souls that take lives...
Mr Jovial Joval Well I guess it goes hand in hand. If you have family members with known mental problems is it cool to have guns around? Just not a good idea.
So glad your covering this case!! Ppl don’t even know abt him!
Thank You So Much Dr.!! Amazing Analysis's as Always!!
Looking sharp in lime green 🫒

Patrick only brought $800 when he was supposed to have _$8,000?_
That's quite a bit less than the promised amount, unless I misheard the number(s)
"There gotta be summin in the water"🤮
I was giggling so much oh my you’re funny😘 oh dear❣️❣️❣️OK OK OK at all sincerity excellent work Dr. Grande🏹
Excellent analysis of the differential diagnosis.
It is easy to judge in hindsight. His clinician must have had a very limited exposure to him.
Just a reminder I'm not diagnosing anybody in this video; only speculating what could be happening in a Cosmo like this.
LMAO!!!
@@polarbearsrus6980 Thank you!

Hello Mr. Todd... I am catching up with you today. I love your videos and your channel. I always like to watch 7 or 8 at a time but maybe I shall watch even
more today. Ok I shall watch now. Thank you. Take care.
Great video Dr. Grande
My favorite halluzination is a man on YT. I experience it almost daily. This guy wears shirts in always varying colors, sometimes it is green like an apple I used to eat as a kid. Whenever he talks he blinks with his eyes, which is kind of sweet. Also when he uses foreign words it often sounds quite cute. The funniest about him is that he always says that we (the audience, I think) should remember, that he isn't diagnosing, just speculating - and then he brings up all his diagnoses, which are perfectly in line with what I've learned as a former clinician. Behind him there is a shelf with funny cacti on it and he sells shirts with very funny motives on it.
This all makes me think, that this man is not real. Such a funny guy does not exist in reality. I'm just imagining this.
Your a funny character Mrs. Reluctant! 😊😉✌⚘
Hope all is well!
@@erikparent8176 Hi Erik, thank you! Always nice to read from you! Hope all is well for you, too and you are having a good time! 🙂
Can you do a video about “mind blindness”?
Omg, what is that?
Wow, I've never heard of this! I did some research after seeing the term in your comment and it's fascinating!! I would love to see our amazing Dr. Grande cover it!!
Thanks so much!
This sounds terrifying.
I have to say Dr. Grande, I find your analysis quite divine and more than a trifle amusing, thank you 🙏 ps love the colour of your shirt 🍀💖
This got my attention because I was originally diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, which, after the psychosis disappeared,
I was reclassified as bipolar 1 with a history of psychosis. I had one of my thyroid glands removed, which started this mess. My hallucinations took 9 years to resolve. In this case, it sounds like they were throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what would stick.
Had Spanish with this guy. Jimi Patrick was also in my year.
Where did you go to HS?

Very interesting presentation. I'd heard of him before, but this wasn't focused upon. TY Dr. G! (The little lamp is very cute.)
