Thanks for the tour of Kristianstad! I have passed Kristianstad so many time with train, but very rarely spent time in the actual city. The only time I can recall is when i did my "mönstring" for the military way back, then I spent one weeked at least in Kristianstad. The holy trinity church is so impressive and it is really massive. I like the fact that they have rebuilt one of the bastions, it really manifests that Kristianstad used to be a garrison city way back. Also the town square and little square looks really nice. Actually the inner city reminds me a bit about Kvarnholmen area in Kalmar, that was also built as kind of a fortress city back in 1630's or so. The streets width and the height of the buildings really look similar there to Kristianstad here. That Galleria Boulevard building though looks hideous, I don't know what modern architects are thinking about, it is definitely not estethics. :)

Thanks! Yeah, the rebuilt bastion was a really nice touch, I also like how, if you look at a satellite image or just a regular map over that part of Kristianstad, you can still see the spikey-shaped water ways around that area. When it comes to the Galleria Boulevard building, at least they didn't tear down any nice 100+ years old buildings to build it. Instead if was a rather square Domus building that got replaced sverigesradio.se/artikel/2139884 :)

Tyg has a more general meaning the cloth. The origin of ”tyg” is from lower german tûch in the meaning of divice, equipment and further back you can find old Norse “tygh” with this meaning. So a “tyghus” is a place to store military equipment. A “verktyg” in Swedish is literally a working device i.e. a tool, in Swedish as another example.
