BORICUA CHANNEL they won't recall it because it's not a "legal safety issue" but with that being said Honda does seem to be give a Goodwill warranty on all of them. My driver side burned out on my 16' black on black touring. Kind of like the fading/oxidation headlight issue on my Toyota Tacoma. It was never a recall but it did affect all of the 2005-2008's. Toyota replaced both of mine for free at 110,000 miles last year.
Dude mine is a 2016 accord sport and I seen 3 other accords today with the same issue just went out on my passenger side fuckin bullshit ima call the service department tomorrow my car only has about 11k miles
*We might have to collect Digital Signatures to file a Lawsuit against Honda America for Quality Control Issues on theses Defective DRL lights required for Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV)*
I have a customer's car in my shop right now with the same issue. The acrylic tube in the DRL strip was too close the the LED chip, and it melted. There are three LED chips in the system, two at one end with a huge heat sink, and one single chip attached to an aluminum board that doesn't do much for cooling. That is the chip everyone is having issues with. We are replacing the entire DRL system with an LED strip that will run white with DRL, but also flash amber with the turn signal. We are also replacing the halogen projector unit with a xenon projector for light output similar to the Acura TL. All this is going to be less than $800 for both headlights. If your car is out of warranty, the lights can be opened and upgraded with better components. Don't pay Honda to replace the entire headlight. The headlight you have can be fixed for less money, and it will be better in the long run.
Defiant Custom Rides your probably talking about a morimoto led strip, or similar, But the questions are, do you still retain the flush look of the acrylic tube, is the new strip mounted behind the acrylic tube or without it, does the new strip cover the entire length of the old strip, and most importantly, does the new strip still DIM when the headlights are turned on, which I haven't seen morimotos or after market led strips do at all. Something only seen on oem applications through PWM
Defiant Custom Rides where you at? You might be my solution to this annoying issue. Not liking paying $573 per month car notes on a ride with jacked up LED lights. You would think Honda wouldn't like their rides rolling around with jacked up LED lights either. It's embarrassing...lol
You're probably better off complaining to Honda until they actually fix it the headlights for free, if you just go and modify it they won't be covering any of the repair.
@@syenosis well, it's a 2016 Honda Accord and we are going into 2019 soon. I'm starting to think they are content with half their Accords having jacked up LEDs. I bought it used from a Chevrolet dealership back in May of this year with 39,000 miles on it. Don't think it went 500 miles before the LED went out. And $20,000 was blue book value for that many miles on a 2016 Accord in May. So I paid/borrowed fair market value for it. It's my first Honda. I traded my 2010 Hyundai Accent in for it after the transmission started acting up on the Accent. So it wasn't a planned purchase. My step mom has a 2018 Honda Accord and driving it peaked my interest in the Accords. My plans was to get a Sonata but now that I am in an Accord Sport package, I like it better.
JUNE 2019 UPDATE: Honda now offers a 10-year extended warranty on the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) for the 2016-17 Accord in the United States. Your car needs to have a clean title. Take it to a Honda Service provider-they will check the VIN to verify. If all goes properly, your DRL replacement will be FREE! Call your local Honda Service provider in advance to schedule the repair. If they give you the runaround, refer to Honda Service Bulletin 19-042. Print a free copy of the bulletin from the NHTSA website and take it with you. Demand that they service the warranty.
how much is it i have a 2016 honda touring had it for 2 years and i don't even know if i have this problem i will look to see later but how much is it?
Same thing pal! Half of the LED DRL went out in our 2016 - just gotta quote for $600, and the entire headlight assembly needs to be replaced - That's BS! If I have to, I'll cut the power to all the LED's and run the freak'n headlights instead. Thanks for the video!
I have a 2016 Honda Accord EX-L , 48,000 miles on it, and last week I noticed both headlight DRL LED inner strips were out. I contacted Honda Customer care via telephone yesterday and notified them of the problem. They gave me a complaint number and told me to take the car to my local dealer which I did. Auto Nation Honda Service Rep was exceptional and told me they have had a number of these burn outs and that he would contact Honda America and get approval for a good will warranty repair. Next day the repair was scheduled, approved and accomplished- both headlights were replaced with a newer version headlight that has fixed the LED burn out issue. Honda paid 90 percent of the repair cost and I paid 10 percent which came to $44.04 per headlight plus $ 17.60 for dealer labor costs. Total cost out the door, with tax, was $114.82. Auto Nation has always gone above and beyond for me and they did a great job once again.
Great to know they resolved your issue. As for me I'm still hoping it doesn't get messed up again., or it will be my third time, and here in FLORIDA we have the lemon law, if your vehicle goes to the dealership for third time and same issues I'm covered.
The new light design apparently resolves the issue and prevents burn out. Dealer's can get approval to fix this problem from Honda under a courtesy or goodwill warranty, regardless of mileage. Honda will pay 90%, customer pays 10%. Call Honda customer service first and get a complaint number and then go to your dealership.
@@johnplover6586 Same car with you and same issue happened yesterday on 45k, they also direct me to Auto Nation for repair and I'm still waiting on their decision of the percentage of courage.
I don't think we should have to pay anything since this is obviously a design defect that they're all burning out, and headlights are important safety components. They might have covered it this time but what about in another 2 years when they burn out again? At some point Honda isn't going to want to constantly just goodwill neverending headlight replacements.

I have a 2017 Touring and my DRL on the passenger side just burned. I agree with you bro, coz it’s not cheap to get it replace plus it’s kind of stupid for replacing the whole headlight assembly for a bad DRL led.😎

I too have a Honda 2016 EX-L and the driver side DRL LED light is partially out. It is a safety hazard and I think there should be a recall, because clearly this is not a issue of longevity. This is my 4th Honda and the one thing I know is, Honda parts don't just break or go bad, you may 'wear a part out' over time, but nothing just stops working! So I will be contacting the manufacturer to express my displeasure with this situation. We've all paid good money for these cars, a Honda no less and nothing should go wrong in less than three years!
My wife's 2016 sport just went out. Went to the local auto parts store an they had no part number for, now I know why. LED are suppose to last something like 20,000 hours, are they not?
2016 Touring sedan. Passenger side went and was replaced. Driver’s side just went out too. I used to never consider an extended warranty on a Honda but now I’m rethinking that philosophy.
My name is Jack. I am having the same problem. Mine went out on my Honda 2016. It has 76,000 miles. I bought it used at 72,000 miles. I also have trouble with my radio and cracking noises in my speakers with the radio off. And it still cracks and pops very loud.
The same DRL on my 2016 accord touring just went out today! So sad to hear they haven't recalled them for this issue. I see so many on the road with burned out DRL on there Hondas. Also 26mpg! My God. I'm lucky to get 21 lol.

If I use the cruise control on my V6 it consistently gets 35-40mpg on the highway. You get worse highway mileage if you're controlling the gas yourself. Of course with traffic in the city my average is more like 26 but the huge highway mileage is a big help. Try using the cruise next time you're on the highway and you'll be surprised at what great fuel economy you get.

The dumbest thing is that Honda still hasn't released an updated part for this car...the dealership I took my car to said it was the same part they've always carried without any updates to improve reliability. This is absurd, Honda needs to either formally announce an extended warranty for all of these or recall them and swap all of these out for an updated part. I'm not going to spend $500 every other year on headlights for the car.
Wow, dude we have the exact same car bought within a week of each other in 2016. I bought my 2016 Accord Touring V6 in Black on 5/13/16 and you bought yours 5/19/16. It's also crazy my car is having the same DRL issues. I just got my passenger side headlight replaced a month or two ago for this problem. Luckily it was covered under warranty. I just rolled over 36K a few weeks ago so I'm going to take this one up with Honda corporate and see if we can work out a solution.
BORICUA CHANNEL yes it does. Thought maybe this was somewhat normal bc I dont have any leaks? Man sometimes I wish I had kept my 2014 Accord LX, never had any quality issues except the plastic om the dashboard in front of the I-Mid screen would creek occassionally
I’m sitting at my Honda dealerships as I type this comment. I had the same issue. (2016 Honda Accord Sport) 1st the passenger side went out and I was tempted to bring it in right away. After seeing and reading all the complaints, I just waited until the drive side went out. That was about a month later. Supposedly they changed out the entire headlight assembly on both sides. I’m kinda worried that they’ll go out again and of course it’s gonna happen as soon as the factory warranty over. They need to fix this issue. This was my 1st time buying a Honda and I was pretty satisfied up until then.

I have a 2016 Honda Accord touring as well love the car but I just had that headlight issue with the DRL going out now I'm worried that the driver side is going to go out soon and I will be out of warranty very soon. 😔

We have had first the passenger’s side DRL at 8k miles, followed by the driver’s side DRL at 19k miles stop working on our 2017 Accord Sedan Touring with the LED headlights. Was advised that the replacement headlight assemblies had been “fixed” so it wouldn’t be an ongoing issue. Let’s hope so...
Same problem here. I have a 2016 Accord Sport and the dealership I got the car from wants to charge me around $600 to get the whole headlight replaced. I told them get the F out of here, that's ridiculous. They were no help in any way.
Yo bro , howd you get music videos to play on the factory navi screen , by the way good video , mine doing the same ....but I believe there's a recall now
I just bought my 2016 Accord Sport and with 70 miles left in the bumper to bumper I took it to the dealer and it was covered. I checked with them and the previous owner had replaced the drivers side (I had the passenger side). Whew. Just had the car a day ! I’m glad it happened while covered However how long is it supposed to last ? I’m worried about this expense down the road. Does anyone know if the replacements are better lasting iir if it’s the same crap
viyau I was told the replacement part would be the same crap. I would have to pay for it out of pocket. Annoying. But I will just roll with it until there is a recall for a faulty safety feature.
This has happened to my 2016 Accord Touring sedan. The dealer replaced my driver side led headlight at 22,000 miles I believe, and now at 32,000 miles, the right side has gone out. It’s due for an oil change. I’m just going to ask that this final warranty work be done because after 36,000 miles, they are not replacing these $1200 headlights anymore.
My passenger light went out under warranty and about a two weeks ago the drivers side went out. Car is no longer under the proper warranty to fix the light. (50,000 miles 2017 Accord hybrid ) I refuse to pay $900 for a light
2016 accord sport 16k miles..brought it last year and my driver side burned out. Called local service dealer For appointment. I will def show them this video. If not covered by warranty, I'll get rid of it for another car not named Honda. I don't like the feeling of an on going drl issue...how hard of a fix is this? Smh
It's sad, it happened to my 2016 EXL Accord back in June. Just went out of warranty while on vacation when I noticed the right side LED was out. Took it to the dealership that I bought it and they said I would have to pay for the repair. Over $650.00 to replace it in June, now the drivers side went out a few days ago. Too expensive to keep this up, I think Honda needs to replace these lights rather than the car owners! Seems to me that there is a major problem with these LED lights! I've owned 4 Honda's and always had good service and quality. It looks bad on the company when you have so many of these on the road!
2016 Honda Accord EX same problem, passenger side DRL is defective. I'm beyond warranty and my "Lifetime" warranty oddly does not cover headlight fixtures at all! $600 to repair!!
Same thing happened to my 2016 accord touring sedan on the passenger side. They only needed to replace the LED strip. They did not need to replace the whole headlight. Although sometimes I feel like the side that didnt get replaced is fading slowly or is slightly dimmer.
BORICUA CHANNEL lol and I had the 100,000 mile warranty too. But I recently cancelled it and got a refund because I wanted to mod my car after the factory warranty ends. Hopefully it will get replaced right before it ends
Bunta Fujiwara no. At first that's that the service advisor thought. So he ordered a new headlight. Then I came in for a dead battery a week later, before the headlights arrived. He was not specific when he said they have the part and they can replace my lights, fixed. Then a week later, a different advisor calls me and tells me my headlight replacement came in and they could replace it. Lol I told her that they already fixed the problem. I do notice a very slight difference between the two sides. The newer strip is a bit brighter and whiter. I can't really tell the difference unless I have my sunglasses on. I think they can just open up the headlight assembly to replace the LEDs.
I have a 2017 accord sports edition. My cas has 15685 miles to this date and my DRL went out on both side at the same time, which is odd to me. I was trying to find a way to turn them on if I mistakenly hit a wrong button. But it seams to be an issue with a lot of you guys. I didn’t purchase mine with warranty at all. I don’t know what to do I just hope this will be a recall issue soon. If any one have an idea about possible known how to turn them on. Please comment below thanks.
I had the same problem on my car and many honda accord owner in Thailand had this problem too. Honda Thailand won't recall it because it's not a legal safety issue. So the car owner who had this problem and was out of warranty had to fix this problem by going to garage to repair DRL by themselves. Is Customer fault ? Fuckin Honda.
I have the exact same car and I've had the exact same problems, at almost the same mileages. Unreal. My passenger light went out first, I took it in to have Honda replace it; then around 28K my driver light went out. Taking it back in to replace it. It's 1500$ out of warranty; absolutely ridiculous and a total shame because I friggin love this car otherwise. I see a recent comment about this being covered under goodwill warranty, hope it's true because it seems like these are going to go out again around 50K at this rate.
I have the same problem with a 2017 Touring. Anyone know if there is a lawsuit like the one for the sun visors for the 2008 Civics? It takes lawsuits for automakers to fix errors
I am having the same issue! I have a honda accord 2016 V6, with navigation and honda sensing. I hope Honda replaces my DRL on the drivers side. Half is out. Other issues I'm having with my car is that my battery died after about 20 months. Required a jump to start the car. A few days later my audio system was out. Had that replaced. All covered under warranty. However, with all these issues, I feel that I got a lemon and more issues will arise soon.

I would say everyone should report this to the NHTSA that these cars are having headlight-related failures so they'll start a safety investigation.
@@johnplover6586 im going to do that. I called my local dealer and they said it's not covered because my vehicle is at 37k miles.

Have same issues 23000 miles 2016 accord sport. Had car for 2 weeks. I did buy extended bumper to bumper warranty. Going in Friday
The same DRL on my 2016 accord touring just went out today! So sad to hear they haven't recalled them for this issue. I see so many on the road with burned out DRL on there Hondas.

Same thing happened to my 2016 touring. I changed both headlights twice. It looks really cheap when one is working and the other one is burnt out.

BORICUA CHANNEL wow. Am sorry. I hope that they replaced with a better product and not the same crap.
viyau They are both new headlights, I'm just praying they last long
BORICUA CHANNEL I hope so. And since they are new headlights I think they should have a separate warranty since being replaced
viyau I was told the replacement part would be the same crap.
Hey how did you play the video on that screen? Can you please make a video on it..

Hopefully it will get replaced right before it ends
jeff, the dealer only replaced the led strip? I thought the headlight assembly needs to be replaced?
Bunta Fujiwara On the Touring version they replace the whole headlight
