who is still listening to this in 2021?
Aye
Aye Aye :)
I'm writing a thesis on Italian jazz rock
Me
yo
Been into Jazz/Rock Fusion since the early '70's but missed this one until now . As a long time Soft Machine fan this hits all the right buttons . Another fine band l,ve also discovered from the '70's was German Band " From " . Just when you think you,ve heard it all yet another obscure masterpiece from an unknown band bubbles to the surface . What a great time for inventive, original music the '70's were .
Ok but can you recomment music? Editione Especiale - So deep inside
Dedalus, Picchio dal Pozzo, Perigeo, Arti & Mestieri, Napoli Centrale... my country has a true tradition in progressive & jazz rock
You forgot Banco, Locanda Delle Fate, Zauber, Jumbo, Il Baricentro, Il Balletto Di Bronzo, Goblin, Le Orme, PFM, New Trolls, Museo Rosenbach, Nuova Idea, Acqua Fragile, Ibis, Nova, Blocco Mentale, Garybaldi and a host of others.
You forgot New Trolls, regrets from Chile
I came across this by accident... best accident ever
That just happened to me.
I've been looking for music like this.
Found it on Spotify today, listening on You Tube.
Same. Sometimes RUclips throws you a bone!
LOL, I might be inclined to pay a premium for THAT service. ; )
PersianLeonidus same lol
I see a lot of Soft Machine here...
True musical mastery. These guys are so good, they don't even need words to tell a story.
Soft Machine yes also Brand X in there as well
@@THESTIG-cc7fq brand x wasn't a band until 1976, pretty late to the fusion game
@@bremtremont2027 The best of Phil Collins?
Hmmm... sound more like Hatfield & The North
Soft machine, egg, hatfield iand the north and a touch of caravan
Drummers and bass players were the best in the 70's.
It's a crime that they only have 500 listeners on Spotify
Another band that I did not know about that simply would have fallen through the cracks if it weren't for the internet & RUclips & fans worldwide sharing great music.... Thanks for sharing this excellent album...
True ...When this album came out here in Italy in 1973 only a bunch of music lovers ( me among them) got to know about it due to the review of a good specialized music magazine
Burt472 Here in America unfortunately bands like this would never get any recognition & it's a shame really...
ogrebattle22763 ...recognized they are now. The internet, this album and you all are awesome! Keep them coming ePeeps.
man ,really , the internet is wonderful , I can imagine the huge amount of music I would have missed if there wasn't such thing like it , truly wonderful .
I remember when it was extremely difficult to find great obscure rock from that era. Between the end of the golden age of classic rock and the invention of RUclips, a period that lasted about a quarter of a century, the only way to find music like this in most cases was to persistently search vinyl records at the rare stores that sold albums like this, talk to obscure rock fans, and do a lot of trial and error. That often involved waiting for certain vinyl records to happen to come in, and that usually couldn't be known about by people who weren't looking for them repeatedly. Things got a little easier in the early 90s because a lot more albums came out on CD and could be ordered. It was still challenging to find the really good stuff. RUclips has made the process about a million times easier.
Dedalus was one of the first bands in a genre called jazz fusion or electric jazz. The early 1970s was a time when the crossover between jazz and other music fields began, and everything was rocking. It was an era when someone did something and it was the development of a new technique or the creation of a new music genre.
Soft machine too
@@simoncroiset6980 Allan Holdsworth RIP
Incredibly creative musical period.
Miles Davis pointed the way with Filles de Kilimanjaro (1968) and In a Silent Way (1969)
Best album I’ve never heard, thank you
YUP.....NICE LP......CREATIVITY, MOODS......TRAIN TRAVEL WINTER DAY LOOKIN' OUTSIDE.....COUNTRY SIDE.....
This year "2023" lots of gems from the progressive world are turning half century old... This one included; Dedalus debut is absolutely great, i remember listening to it for the first time, i loved it instantly.
Personally, My favorite Jazz Fusion album. (I couldn't find which month and day specifically this album was released so i write this on easter day)
la grande classe.......ce disque m a mis 1 claque enorme....jsuis scotche.......thanx a lot
Excellent 70's Fusion. This is what music should be, an audio smorgasbord . . . . .
Magnificent! Italian you say? Then God bless Italy!
Thanks from Trento, Italy
Killer rhythm section. Layered. Virtuostic, Tight.
Musica stupenda,senza dubbio.Dedalus,Picchio dal pozzo,Perigeo,Arti & Mestieri...e mille altri!Comunque questo disco è meraviglioso!
aggiungerei area
These guys are bad Ass, I've been listening to them for about two years now, I keep coming back to play this album from beginning to end...
Always happy when Int'l folks listen to and appreciate music from my country ( Italy)
Unfortunately, the only Italian band that got any exposure in America during the 70's was PFM. Of course, through the years I have discovered many, many great Italian bands...
That's encouraging to know....Thanks for listening
Who talked about tarantella? WTF you talking about?
Italian Prog Jazz is off the charts
@pirulo pirulito italian jazz fusion
Had this back in the seventies.. heard a lot of the Canterbury sounds we loved... My circle of friends back then were all very into and influenced by this sort of thing, ( euro- prog and fusion). We lived in Phoenix Arizona, and were very active musically, and you can hear some of us on the album "Phoenix by the Pocket Orchestra-- it is here on RUclips for your parusal and enjoyment, and contains all the hallmarks of the best European progressive bands we love...
What?????????? This album is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!
classic prog rock/ jazz/ fusion from the days when musicianship mattered
God bless Italian prog scene
@minkosaurus it has elements of prog for sure.
@@macbook8390 This band is part of the Rock Jazz italian wave that was big during the Seventies (Perigeo, Napoli Centrale, Agorà).
Stuff like goblin and dedalus is what keeps me alive
God bless Italy
This is the jazz rock I miss, the 70s stuff, fantastic record.
i love these types of comments- theyre just so simple and true
I am particularly impressed by how Marco Di Castri plays (solos with) both guitar _and_ sax.
He does most of the soloing, overall -- especially during the modal passages (as opposed to Avante-Garde ones -- That seems to be more of the soloing territory of Fiorenzo Bonansone , who plays piano + cello).
A Master Piece !!!!
jazz fusion never heard of this band but very impressed great music
Brilliant.... Also Egg, Hatfield & the North, Caravan..... Like a Canterbury album - fabulous! 28 2 2019
Fantástico registro
Eu adoro passear pela Internet e encontrar essas joias raras perdidas no tempo
RISPETTO ASSOLUTO... TAAAAAAAAANTA ROBA...... IL PROG è UNO DEI POCHI GENERI IN CUI NOI ITALIANI ABBIAMO SPACCATO TUTTO.... NON PER ESSERE TROPPO NAZIONALISTA, MA QUALCHE COMMENTO IN ITALIANO LO GRADIREI... SAREBBE CONSONE... ANCHE SE LE RISPOSTE IN INGLESE VALORIZZANO IL GRUPPO....
Its the internet...be as italian as you wanna be. We all have a translator.
this sound's a nicer lingua franca
Surrealistic masterpiece.
Such a sick album cover xD
I know...haunting
Hollow Knight on a Dedalus video!!!!!!! Holy shit that made my day!!!
one of the most beautiful experimental rock-jazz works that I have ever heard
Probably one of the most accessible as well !!
In sound that is !
@@stefanofocacci Meno sperimentali e abili.
The first second of this album was amazing!
proto Drum'n'Bass or what?
Just the first second? The rest of the album is great too
Brilliant album by an amazing band !
Maurizio Bianco
Nothing like a Fender Rhodes played well
Factual sound statement
Man so advance. I could totally hear this planning over a adult swim bump. Great stuff
Also, if you love this, you gotta check out Gilgamesh, associated with the Canterbury scene, the friendship with ( and production by Dave Stewart) no saxes on it, but fantastic keyboards by Alan Gowan and also the guitar of Phil Lee everyone else on it sounds great as well... Also gotta love thier second, " Another fine tune" with excellent bass by Hugh Hopper (Soft Machine, Isotope, and great solo albums) I like the cello playing here, which can also be heard on the Pocket Orchestra recordings... Unfortunately, most of the key members are now long dead, but thier great contribution to contemporary music will live on, thanks to thier limited recorded output, meanwhile I am enjoying this record emmensely!...
Michel Castaneda was a big tests : of the plants , lsd (25 & 50) and all shaman's plants psychédélics in the world (Opening all doors in the brain : William Blake & Baudelaire)
Perigeo é outra excelente banda de jazz rock italiano. As good as Dedalus!
electric cello playing is just awesome
Been trying to remember the name of the band and finally did so!
Heard them about 3-4 years ago! AMazing music!
this is awesome, i can't believe i haven't heard this before!!!!
I found this l.p. Because of a most incredible first and only l.p. from a 1981 French group dun, album eros. It will blow your aural senses.
Dün is from another planet...
A very beautiful free jazz !!
+Claudio Berrettini not really a free jazz. Very nice indeed though.
Sof Machine brought me here, I am very impressed.
I wish Soft Machine's Fourth, Fifth, Six & Seven was less random and more like this
@@obscureallure7318 I dig Soft Machine 6 and especially 7!
Amazing band, and there's a Rhodes. It's a bit like 30 years ago but I still love it.
@@MicheleCampus perché invece questi passavano in tv, guarda...
Ora ?

Grande album !
Absolutely Splendid Band & Record...
Simply brillant ! - and sooooooo underrated !
Great sound!
the greatest album ever put to vinyl!!!!
I love fusion that has no traces of smooth jazz.
the drum grooves are amazing!
BEAUTIFUL
I'm not a big fan of jazz-rock, but i absolutely love this!
wow......this is wonderful !!
Perfect! Oh my goodness, bless the musicians of the world.
Thank you, Brutha Allure!!! “This music…This vibe…This beautiful frequency” is right up there with clean air & water - NECESSARY!!!!
I'm really beginning to appreciate the YT algorithm.... Thank you for this gem

Awesome record. Pure gold.
Bellissimo! Microcosmos, megadrops!
A work in which Euro Progressive Rock collides with free jazz and rushes into Guru Guru and Can. I felt the illusion of entering the twilight zone between time and space.
Esto es perturbadoramente fascinante.
great jazz and fusion band! I really enjoy this kinda music!
Drum and bass invented…this is the origins, the very dna of fusion….brilliance…..I can’t find a word to even describe how great this group is
