  • Learn to play Slayer Behind The Crooked Cross, from the South of Heaven album. Tune down your guitar one half step (Eb standard tuning). This song is really heavy on downpicking, while the left hand isn't precisely having the time of its life. At least this is how I feel when playing many riffs from Behind the Crooked Cross.

Almost every single tab I have seen for this song has the main riff as single notes but as you've correctly pointed out its actually a dyad keeping the F# note in the bass. Nice lesson

I just found this song on your channel. This song kicks ass! I love the powerful rhythm. One of the best songs on the album. You have good taste and this is much better than sliced bread!

As they say, "Less is More" and that definitely applies in this situation. I am enjoying the listening and learning process immensely! Keep up the great work!

Yep! The guys who made doom and doom II were big metal fans, one level sounds like a pantera song, and several others are clearly modeled after slayer songs. One level on doom II has the drum intro for South Of Heaven, literally identically. Definitely an homage to slayer!
