- In this video, I take on a leak test for my Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet, checking for water leaks around the convertible top. I also guide you through the removal of interior panels to access and clear the drain channels, a critical maintenance step for any cabriolet owner. As an added touch, I'm replacing the rear seat carpeting, upgrading from the dyed carpet I installed last year. If you're looking to maintain or restore your 996 Carrera, or just want to learn some DIY tricks for Porsche interiors, this video is for you!

¡Gracias! ¡Es mi color favorito!
Good one Yogi, just cleared my drains for second time last week after 5 years ownership so once about every 2 years, you probably know if you raise your top a little at a time and jump out you can guide those side tensioning cables back under trim where belong, had my top replaced about a year ago and that solved that problem, very, very expensive though
Yeah I’ve tried that and unfortunately they just pop out again. This top is in bad shape and the headliner is worse. I actually priced a top “skin” on eBay for a reasonable price but never dug too deep.
@@YogisGarage Like a wrap I think replacing a top on one of these is best lelt to a professional, mine had no headliner when I bought the car and after a few years it started to come apart at the seams
@@donesper2070 agreed but you know me, I love torture and reinstalling a new cover looks like PURE torture. 😂
@@YogisGarage make sure you get new, old canvas is as reliable as old plastic and old rubber and good luck
@@YogisGarage Recomend you get new, old canvas is as reliable as old plastic and old rubber and good luck the quote I got for mine listed 12 hours for labor
Nice job. I’m actually surprised at the amount of water that comes in….and that it’s visible like that and not in tubes.
Me too actually! Then I realized that the clamshell collects a lot of water and routes it to the sides. I also observed some rain draining off the hydraulic rams. That tells me that a water “guide” has broken off somewhere. Luckily I have a Turbo S that’s in much better condition to compare. 🤔
