    Thanks to the RUclips algorithm, I am a first-time viewer. This is incredibly helpful and useful as it highlights the importance of Self-Aid & Buddy Care (SABC) and Combat Lifesaver training and equipment like tourniquets, QuickClot, and/or other life-and-limb devices. I've been through SABC numerous times and have had abbreviated versions of Combat Lifesaver training, but this is the first time that I've seen this, and I wish I had watched it sooner.
    Every second truly counts and being equipped and proficient at using devices and equipment is just as important as knowing how to perform a quick triage with information like this.
    Thank you again and I wish you and yours a blessed, healthy, safe, prosperous, and peaceful 2025!

      I'm glad that the algorithm worked in your favor, and I'm very happy you subscribed to my channel. Yes, like you, I received a lot of good training from the U.S. Army and went through the Combat Lifesaver (CLS) a few times in my military career, and it has helped me save a couple of lives. To you also, Happy New Year 2025, and BE A HARD TARGET

    This is great. I would love to see one that deals with the heart and arteries in the thorax. In one of the classes I attended it was said that a shot through the heart still gave the threat 8 seconds to fight. That can be an eternity in a close in fight.

    I remember after a procedure where I had a catheter in my radial artery after which the artery was sealed with a vacuum from which the pressure was gradually released to allow a clot to form. There was a reassuring chart nearby that said you had two minutes to bleed out if it started bleeding. Of course I started bleeding and it seemed to take at least 30 seconds of panic to get the nurses attention to reapply the vacuum. I don't suppose it was quite as long as that but it seemed so, mind you I may have sprayed a bit of blood on the floor during that time, but not that much. Nurses weren't panicking or anything. That being said I don't ever want to get into a knife fight thank you very much.

      That was a really good comment for all of the viewers to see. Thank you for sharing your experience. Yes, you are correct. It's best to stay out of a knife fight. BE A HARD TARGET should you ever get into one...

    10 years as an Advanced EMT (paramedic) Most dead bodies I saw at crime scenes, had between 1-3 deep puncture wounds in them. But... don't eliminate slashes from your fighting style. They can be very effective also.

      You are right. Most knife victims I've seen also had multiple wounds. Some not life-threatening, others were fatal. Thanks for your expert comment. BE A HARD TARGET

    How does the time change with multiple cuts? For example a cut on femoral a. and a cut on brachial a.?

    • @jimwagnerrbpp
      @jimwagnerrbpp  4 дня назад

      Good question. Think of the artery as a water hose and the heart as the running faucet. If the hose is completely cut closest to the source then any cut beyond that will not receive the water anyway. On the other hand, if the house has several nicks only, then the water will pour out from the several nicks. Now, if there are two hoses coming out of one faucet, and the two hoses each get cut, then the water will come out much faster with two hoses damages. I hope the visual helped. BE A HARD TARGET

    I know it's off-topic, but if you're in a hand to hand situation and you draw a firearm to defend yourself, do NOT extend your arms in a weaver stance (this is for when you have some distance and need to take aim) as the woman in the video did. You are just handing your weapon to your attacker. Keep it in your dominant hand and pull your elbow back past your side with the weapon only far enough away from your body so as to not interfere with the slide (presuming it's a semi-auto). This is a very difficult position to disarm from.

      @jimwagnerrbpp  3 дня назад +1

      Yes, you are correct. Do not let the Hostile get a hold of the pistol - keep it out of his reach. So, pull the weapon (weapon side back if possible), put the butt of the handle in the hollow of the hip (low to make it a hard reach), keep the secondary up high so you can push him away and not blow your own hand off, and move back (step and slide, if possible). The video you saw of several officers defending themselves was the first time they ever trained for such a knife attack, and it's a real eye opener for police officers, because most have the mindset that their gun will save them in a knife fight, but as you know, it's much harder than it looks. Well, actually, the techniques and tactics are easy, but it's a very rapid, deadly situation. Thanks for your comment. BE A HARD TARGET

      @@jimwagnerrbpp Thanks for adding keeping the secondary up high. I forgot to mention that. Yes, it's definitely good to NOT shoot your own hand. :)

    I always tell people there is no such thing as a knife fight because it is a murder in progress.

    • @DoubleplusUngoodthinkful
      @DoubleplusUngoodthinkful 3 дня назад

      It's still a fight if both people have knives. Whether it's murder or not depends on who the instigator is.

    Why are you showing this in public..? Isn't this irresponsible..? You don't want criminals knowing this stuff do you?

    • @jimwagnerrbpp
      @jimwagnerrbpp  5 дней назад +1

      No it's not irresponsible. It's all Open Source information. Yes, it's true that Hostiles can take some of this information and use it for evil, but it's nothing that they're not going to get off of a video game, from a movie, on social media, or talking with fellow criminal or terrorists. So, do I stop teaching self-defense to the majority (the ones who obey the laws and respect life), because of a very small percentage who could possibly abuse the information? Do I stop teaching firearms courses? Do I stop teaching children because one boy or girl might possibly become a bully? Yes, there are many things I know that I will never make public, (after all, I was a former U.S. agent counterterrorist) but knowing how fast an artery can bleed out is something that every good citizen should know. In fact, every good citizen should know how to protect themselves and their loved ones, and every good citizen should know combat first aid. That said, I do appreciate your comment, and I'm sure some other viewers may have had the same concern. BE A HARD TARGET
