doesn't it make more sense to have 2 ranks into bone splinters to bump the dmg they deal when coming out from the spirit. or are they different things?
Mac, clicking the build planner link and following the skill tree is different than the video. The build guide shows for example (1) point in reap and the video show point in bone splinters, not reap. What am I missing? The Maxroll build guide does not seem to match the video skill progression. So, I'm following the video at starting at 2:45.

Coming off season 2 (failing) trying to maje bliod lance bone spirit dream work, its nice to see bone spirit love as i was gonna lean in more on bone spirit this season, or bone spear as i never made a bine spear build. Low and behold!! I get both
the build i made days ago utilizes the bone splinter/spirit build with artisan and blood orbs and i think it's the most perfect combination on the internet. i synergized it exactly the way it needs to have balance between the two styles. no bone spear in it and i made an incredible paragon.

Thanks for all your hard work! Would you consider this build on par with Bone Spear build? I ran bone spear pre season and want to run something different for season 3 after my LS Druid. Obviously Shami could replace Deathless Visage in this build but what about other Uber uniques? Starless instead of exposed flesh? Could GF work?
My dmg is still not the best. Need long for bosses like duriel and co. and have a really hard time in ~90 nm dungons. I am lvl 100 with 90% 925 gear with at least 2-3 good mods each. No idea what's wrong. My highest crits (which happens really rarely) are 1m dmg.
Quick question. Does Blood artisan summoning bone spirit trigger dreadful bone spirit? Thought that you sacrifice a defensive aspect but get the opportunity to have another skill to decide a bit more of the blend with offence and defence that you like

Been using essentially blood surge builds so far but the monotony of it is killing me. I've been looking at bone spear builds for the past couple days and this seems to be the nicest one so far even if pretty gear dependent.

Pretty decent build but im rocking Kripps Shadow Golem build atm and it slaps hard also super fun with the minions. The Blood Golem hits for several millions at max level.

Man I been using almost the same build leveling up. First time I'm having fun with a bone build, extremely fun to tendrils and shotgun them with bone spirit.
Can't wait to try this when I get to WT4. Near the end of WT3 now. Got Visage, optimal CD and decent rolls for Sacrilegious. Can't wait to optimize this.

Before anything, congrats for all the content you post! Always great to see your in depth analysis! I’ve been playing in my Eternal Necro with the traditional Bone Spear with Lidless Wall and I had a great improvement in resource management using the Ring of Starless Skies. I’m currently using it and Sacrilegious and I have no problem whatsoever keeping my Essence up. I also have chance on lucky hit to restore Essence on the Lidless Wall and gloves. May be worth some testing! 😉
The video build guide was filmed around 12 on Thursday evening, and the editing and build planner had to be done the following morning. The Maxroll full text build guide takes a lot more work and often coordination with multiple people so you can likely expect that at a later date.

I KNEW IT! I suspected they stealth-nerfed splintering aspect and when I wasn't getting vulnerable on bosses anymore. Either way sweet build, bone-on-bone action boys xD
Yeah, I was wondering why the hack I drop in dmg and resource reg so drastically especially by doing bosses. I played the classic bone Speer and I never was so disappointed in boss dmg. That’s the reason why

could you explain the math around aspect of serration? I find old (few months old) posts saying it's an own multiplier, but when reading it I assumed it will just take all crit damage and multiply that, then add the multiplied total crit damage into the big fat damage bucket where crit damage normally is? or does it work differently? does it act on critical damage itself, not the +critical damage attributes on gear?
@@MacroBioBoi thanks, so it's the total damage output, like a complete separate bucket right? I was confused if this changed with the changes to damage buckets that blizz made some months ago
@@MacroBioBoi sorry, same question about the critical damage bonus from grasping veins, how does that one work? does that one work the same as the serration or does it only multiply the crit damage that then gets added into the big damage bucket with all other additive damages? so would a grasping veins on a 2h be the same damage as serration on a 2h, or not? (assuming the grasping veins requirement is met and both are max rolls of 80% on a 2h)
There isn't a thing of "just the crit damage". If you crit, your damage is multiplied by 1.5 and your crit additive gets added into your total damage bucket. Grasping Veins says if you crit multiply your total damage by this number. Exact same as serration (if you're at the minimum essence value and the crit is a bone skill)@@aspa3071
It shores up some issues bone spear has while slightly reducing its max clear speed. Namely, handles Suppressors and tanky elites significantly better while being very tanky.
My brother in Rathma, THANK YOU. You have saved the Necromancer for me this season. The changes to Splintering had me down in the dumps, and I completely rerolled to Rogue after realizing that the build was going to play dramatically differently. Bone Spear has been my go to build from literally the first open beta where you could play the Necro. Didn’t care about strength at all- I made the all bone build myself with the “OP” Corpse Tendrils into Bone Prison combo giggling at the frustration of monsters and players alike as they became walled off. I played it in pre season and season 1. I supported the massive damage nerfs because it was too strong. The recent change to splintering just made me feel hopeless, however, not because of the damage change but because it was just a massive change to the utility of the Bone Spear build. No longer does everything on screen become vulnerable for free :( Bosses can’t be made vulnerable at all unless they spawn adds you can shoot through. I knew the build would need to change, but I didn’t know HOW it would change and still feel good. I did mess around with Bone Spirit and I liked the new resource gen, but I didn’t know how all the pieces would fit together. I really appreciate this video guide, man. Thank you so much for bringing life to this class time and time again.
I'm working on the spear build currently. Would you say this is stronger? Is the meta going to shift at the top level for this class? I was originally building the Blood Surge build, but it was making me hate playing the Necro. I want the best power fantasy the class has to offer
I don't wanna hear IN DEPTH about why you're placing every skill. I wanna copy and paste and actually play the game, because at this point I have more hours on doing builds rather than actual gameplay and I'm about to quit Diablo. And I am really struggling to put my skill points the same way you have, you stop and talk about why and how you use the skills and the jump-cut to somewhere else in the tree.. I have 3 points left and no idea where to put them. And also wtf, you have points in bone splinters but aren't using it? There's 7 skills but only 6 slots

Because in a perfect world with max level breaking on your pet, you get 100% uptime on vulnerable and can use the better version on Bone Spear.
Loving the build so far! One question - the video shows using grasping veins on the amulet, but the build planner shows serrated. Which one is better?
The planner is a perfect world, the video is my limited resources as a real person playing with imperfect gear

curses its so uselles....im running only with bone spirit+bone prision+bone armor...nothing more. Still lvl 42...

Then you need more crit chance. You should be at 100% chance to crit, very easily.

Why splintering on a 2 handed an not Grasping veins?.... im running a 2handed BS build an confused where to put my aspects for BossKilling....
You only need grasping on a 2-hander if you need the crit

Yes definitely! Nearly all season 3 builds are useable for eternal.

If you crit, multiply your damage by 1+ serration's number, as long as you have 50+ your serration number in essence on cast.

@@aspa3071 just a new multiplier. Saying it's its own "bucket" isn't really what a bucket means, but effectively the same concept yes.

It's a resource aspect for the shattered spirit it can only be placed on rings
