When you were showing the inside of the car while driving around, it brought back so many memories. We had the 66 Impala version of this car with a 327 in it. I had forgotten what the dash looked like, but as soon as I saw it again, it all came back. The video itself was a lot of fun to watch, but those memories of being in that car with my Dad were priceless for me.

Back in 1978 a friend and I decided to go on an adventure in his mom's 1965 Chevy ll 4 door six cylinder car. He put new tires on it the morning before we left. 258 miles into the trip his front tires were showing the cords through it. Limped to Casa DeFruita on our way back to San Jose CA. Guy at the Shell station said that the tie rods were bent. Well Phil's mom didn't have two quarters to rub together so when we went back to retrieve the car she just called the junk yard in Gilroy to come and pick it up. Between the cost of the tow to take the car and what they gave her, she ended up with $25.00 and no car. She did buy us Chinese Food once we got back to San Jose to put that disaster behind us. We still talk about that memorable trip to this day. Good times.

Almost makes me homesick. Saskatchewan born, expat since 1995,in Saudi and South Korea. I always thought I would never see it again since my 2012 visit when my mom passed. Fast forward to 2021. Covid locked me out of my condo in the Philippines after my employer in Korea "retired" me. Forced to return to Saskatoon, rented a room from an old high school buddy for a year. Got a job with a Train Crew Transport outfit and plied that Regina highway many times. Can still smell that summer prairie air. Spent many a minute waiting by the train track to switch crews as far east as Melville and also lots of trips as far west as Wainwright. Got sent to BC for a month last fall, got a graveyard shift at the rail yard in Saskatoon as Yard Taxi over a REAL cold winter, then the phone finally rang. I'm now teaching again in Hungary. Yes, it's been an odyssey . Will not return to Canada as long as a certain @$$ whose initials are J.T is running things. Hence the term "almost" in front of homesick.

We still have his car outback. I still own a 66 Caprice that I'm still trying to restore. Just love big body Chevys. Chevy 6 is a great engine, easy to fix and works hard !!

I had an Impala 4 dr years ago. You may remember it, it was white with a painted black roof and blue flames called the Millenium Falcon. The front strut rod ripped out of the frame and force it into retirement in 2001. Bought a Belair that I wanted to make one from the two but it never happened. Sold them to a guy on Inkster who had a two door sedan. He wanted me to pay him to take them away, no. Got discouraged from the car hobby after that. Have a lot of spare body parts for a four door I want to get rid of but don't want to scrap. The car in this video looks really good.

Fun video Dan. Friend of mine inherited his grandfather's 66 4dr, 6cyl impala when we were in high school. I was supposed to inherit my grandfather's 67 plum purple 327 2dr Caprice, when I was in high school as well. Unfortunately, my greedy uncle took it, and drove a mint condition, low mileage car into the ground and off to the junkyard in only 2 years. But I'm not bitter at all. Lol

Reminds me of what a friend did about 20 yrs ago. His friend's father had just freshened up a 65 Chevelle more door and was selling it. All he told his wife was that they were going on vacation and hitched a ride in a mini van. After a 16 hr road trip they arrived at their destination and he told his wife the reason for their "vacation", he made a deal, bought the Chevelle and drove it home. It was their daily driver for several yrs in the mid 2000's (they live in Upstate NY). I'm not a smart man--but I know better than to try that one! Great road trip guys! 😆

This thing reminds me of a car that I was given when I was 19, a 1976 Buick Skylark sedan with 34,000 miles on it. It had an Olds 260 4.3L V8 (110 HP) with a TH200 in it. It was in perfect shape obviously and it was seriously slow, but that thing would start after sitting for two months with a foot of snow covering the entire car on the first crank with the Rochester 2bbl.

In 1977, my senior year of high school, I was driving a 68 Impala ragtop with a 283 in it Loved the car. It was only 11 years old and was already a rusted out POS, but it was a great car. My grandmother had a 67 with a 6 cylinder with a 3 on the tree. Other than tradition, I do not know why people bought 6 cyl cars at that point. They were absolutely gutless! It needs front suspension rebuilt and I do have all new parts including tubular A-arms and disc brakes n spindles. New power break master cylinder. I also bought a 9 inch rear housing set up for the Chevelle. New axles and posi carrier for the pumpkin I'm using from a pickup. 3:91 gears. New mags with new T/A Radials. I always teased my grandmother I would stuff a Rat Motor 🐀 into her car. Promise kept.

Been there done that. But 500 miles? Nah! All the power to ya!
Nothing like a good running crew cab!

Fis the 6, 4bbl and split headers. They sound wicked. Ask jeff whitby, just did the chief.
