I was there when the hurricane hit Grenada, and also for the next hurricane that hit Grenada Emily, 9 months later. I can see why this isn’t the restoration project for you but would like to talk to you about Fortuna and an alternative future for her you may want to explore. If nothing else, I would love to share the story of this beautiful lady with you. Hope to connect! My husband and I have followed you from your start of renovation of Odd Life. Warmest Regards,

When you were building your container home... I was hooked. The areas you found for storage was amazing and the way you designed the rooms... simple stunning. To me, every aspect of that build was well thought out and came from the heart. - Then you ventured off and bought an abandon boat. I was initially thinking you two somehow have you lost all of your cranium fluid. At that time, I was thinking that you lost one follower. But after seeing your passion and commitment to building your current boat... All I could say is WOW. I can only speak for myself. I have followed you and supported you in your venture with your current boat. If you want to upgrade to a bigger boat that I think will take at least - 30 months - to get sea worthy.... DO IT!!! Your video content has been spot on. And obviously has inspired many others to get hooked on your antics, personality, and lifestyle. From the very first moment of finding your current boat to sailing into hurricane territory, i have been with you. remember, it is your life, and yes, you might rely on some support from patrons, but it is still your life. Do what is right for you. Your real patrons will support you in your decision's no matter what it is going to be. Like i said, it is just my opinion, but I think you should march forward and continue your life ! ! ! Your passion drives me to follow you two.

Some great boats -- the Bowman 57 was a gorgeous boat that sailed well. But if you restore it you still have an old boat from a company long gone. The Passport 47 is probably the best sailing boat, still in demand. But if the core is rotten and the interior is all rotten there is no value there at all. The Columbia is not in bad shape, but it is a very old design and Columbia was not considered a high-end boat in its day. You said at the end of the video that someone bought the Bowman -- I hope it can be restored. It is an elegant yacht. You were wise not to undertake restoration on any of the boats. It wold take months longer and far more money to restore the really sick Bowman. You would have to acquire the Columbia for peanuts to make a profit on it. Enjoyed the video -- very interesting to look at the boats and evaluate how to make some money from one of them.

Ssmart decision on all those boats. The only one that is salvageable would be a two year project. You have an amazing capable boat in Odd and have built a loyal following on youtube. Sail the world and we will follow along with you. My vote is for you to sail to the US, spend the winter in the Chesapeake and set off or wherever next sailing season. Run don’t walk away from all these boats. You have a great boat that has been painstakingly put back into beautiful shape. Having a metal boat with retractable keel is such a great combination and should not be underestimated. If you get “stuck” in Grenada and want to make some cash by part out one or two boats, OK fine, but don’t swap Odd for any of these.

It's OK to look and assess, I like that you did it with a critical mind and with realistic expectations, you are right none of them could be done in 5 months (look how long Odd took and they are all in worse condition, Odd was nearly perfect inside), but if you didn't look you wouldn't know if you'd walked past a diamond or a chunk of brown coal, in this case they were brown coal, but now you know.👍It would have been more interesting if you show the asking prices for these boats.

Thank you for sharing all. that you do... I think it is really really creative to start with WHERE (Granada) then into LANGUAGE (French?). Then a very courageous DEEP DIVE into wrecked boats. Almost entertaining. Not worth talking about details. More about bug repellant. So for me this post is so over the top I think of a proposal to actually help you with whatever project you choose. I am retired and I think that knowing how to speak Portuguese would be an adequate goal. All that Portuguese (language) offers to sailors. I think hanging around a boat yard in Granada might be an excellent adventure. So I was thinking helping you guys, working on learning the Portuguese language and being in Granada would be enough. But of course, just a thought. from here in New Hampshire. Best wishes. (I've been mostly over there with Sailing Yaba and they are well along with getting their project in the water. ). And so..... Obrigada, Felipe.

One thing to consider with any GRP hull that has been standing with fresh water in the hull (rainwater. it is more aggresive than salt water)) is that their is a good chance that Osmosis has started to take place and that will be below the waterline (not good) and does not show up the same as the bubble effect in gel coat that is visible when the anti-fouling and any growth has been cleaned off. Use a small hammer to tap the hull laminate to hear if it sounds hard or dull sound if it is beginning to take on the likeness of soggy blotting paper.

Only if you have a couple million to drop on a COMPLETE refit for a boat from a dead manufacturer. That would be a labor of love for someone that appreciates them. Selling it for a profit is completely out the window at that point, and the quality of work you can expect in the Caribbean is less than acceptable for people in other parts of the world.

It's kind of amazing to me that these yards hold onto junk like this. I fill in part time for a boat salvage company in Washington state, USA and a number of the boats we scrap are in much better shape than most of these. Some of which have been underwater. They're not seaworthy anymore and most of the time the contract requires that they be scrapped and cannot be sold or traded. Parts can be salvaged but they have to be disposed of.

Sometimes they still have owners and the boatyard can’t do anything with them. Sometimes it’s still on justice until the boatyard can have them because the owners don’t pay the boatyard anymore… there are so many reasons… I (Roberta) hate seeing boats like these ones with no one taking care and I would love “to clean” the boatyards, but sometimes there is nothing we can do to fix it. 😞

I agree with Duca, if you can get the boat/boats cheaply or gifted to you then strip the damaged one for parts to keep or sell to renovate the other boat.

YES if you are doing any type of ocean going. You need a bigger boat. But looking at the boats you showed...well they are in need of much work. And in the Caribbean much more $$$ then in Brazil. But ODD is a great boat but if you venture any farther then what you have, best to have a bigger vessel. Best to you both we have been with you from the start.

Even parts that look solvable on first side on boat one like the switch panel will have all contacts corroded, the winches will have rusted bearings and gearing.

Good decision. Many sailors want their next boat to be bigger. Each of ours got bigger over the years. Its not always the best decision, especially if you plan to continue without more crew. still an other great video.

Why don't you just do a remodeling project on odd. Galley, or enclose the wheel house, make drop down sides so when you're sailing water doesn't get everything wet. That would be a good project for 5 months. Be safe stay healthy enjoy

Because it reminds me how long you've reconstructed the first boat, that's a long one, but then this one looks even better because of the size and it looks bigger and looks accomodating with ur freinds
