Excellent video. I was imaging the comet last night and need to follow your processing workflow

Thank you ! I was surprised I was able to capture it with the cloud cover.

Nicely done! I followed along as one of my first projects with PI trial and my own 12P data. Everything went smooth up to comet integration, you had a nice flat image after ABE but I had bad stacking border artifacts and weird color splotches in background and huge gradient corner to corner. I tried cropping and the other background/gradient tools but can't seem to fix it.

Great work on putting this together. The one issue I see is when you perform the initial steps for star alignment, then star extraction, the star extraction does not extract any galaxies or faint things in the background when you add the star only image to the comet only image later. The comet only image will have galaxies and other things blurred due to the movement of the comet. The only way to preserve this is to remove the comet from the star alignment image. That way the stars, galaxies, etc, are left intact, then you can add the comet only image to that.

Which set of frames did you use for batch-removing stars in STX please?!

I used my registered images from WBPP, they should end in “c_d_r”

    Max vs Rescreen?

Thanks! I used Max because it is what I used on last years C/2022 E3 comet when I processed it. I don't remember why exactly. I think it could have to do with the residual star trailing that is present in the comet only aligned image.

Sorry but I totally lost you at 9 min 29 sek. You had already done it - but how?

Ok to do the StarXterminator batch process for starless only images, you open up StarXterminator -> process batch -> then on the “Output starless files to:” select a destination folder -> now you can select the “select input files and execute”, for this you will select the registered files , those should end in “c_d_r” from when you stacked the images. Then the process will execute. Then you use the comet alignment feature next.
Sorry ! Hopefully that clears it up! The only reason I didn’t show it’s that it does take a while to process those images.
