The feeling, when you fall down to the open area of 6-1 and roaring monotone of the Chords of the Crooked Saints switches like a pseudo drop to the Altars of Apostasy, is something like a movement in your heart - you know, these few dark rooms and intentional annoyance of the music were just an invitation for your soul (like the Prelude and Cerberus Boss fight was) to throw yourself into the melodical freefall...
