@spraggo0007 Thanks John. It will be my last video for a little while unless I do a surprise visit to a fishery somewhere during the back end of winter and find something worthy enough to film but most unlikely at this stage. I'll be spending most of my time on the fly tying table until the regular season resumes. Cheers 👍
Nice work Tristan, nice montage of different waters, lovely scenery and great browns n bows, now all of a sudden I want to go bush for a night n have me a nice cozy campfire😊
@kiwitroutstalker8845 Thanks, Mark. Yeah it was a good way to break down some of the rivers without giving away too much of where I went as I had several clips on file and still a few I didn't put up but some of my finer moments I added on film. Campfire next to river where you can hear a bit of a side stream in the background flowing alongside me under a still night is hard to beat. Roll on next season 👍
@troutstalkers6922 Thanks, mate. I do feel the off-season is going through quite quickly. Technically, just 2½ months left until we can do it all over again, not long, really.
@troutstalkers6922 You are right, but I try not to think about it 😅 I try and spend a bit of time on the fly tying table till it's fishing time again. Well, eventually, haha.
Nice bit of navel contemplation Tristan! BTW, am heading to lakes up Coleridge way in Nov. What pattern do you use for green beetles? Maybe too soon for them? Tks Paul
@waitaki_fly Thanks, mate. It's been a season full of exploration, but I'd come across a few good fish. Campfire alongside the river is hard to beat. In the lakes, I find the loves lure an effective pattern as it's easier to see in the water or a Coch-y-bondhu, which has a more bulky profile, which helps its buoyancy. Other than that, just your standard green foam beetle or Manuka pattern. Anywhere from late November through to February, the hatches are abundant. I'm looking forward to trying out my new Sony camera for next season which has just arrived. It's a significant step up from what I have been using.
Really enjoyed the video and the retrospective. Never gets old seeing those gin tonic clear streams and beautiful trout! Here's to next year!
