The lowercase thing stopped me from connecting to my X5 because both the SSID and key have lowercase letters. Only about 30 devices to reprogram! I might go back to Plan A and run ethernet out to the shop... Or I could just update all those devices and tell the visitors to do the same, or run a second wifi SSID, which might be a whole bunch less painful. Have you tried the remote monitor facility?
Haven't done this with an x7/syil, but one thing I've done in the past when I've had issues like this is just making a "guest" network on my wifi that is separate from my main wifi. I use google/nest wifi though so I am not sure if that feature is available on other wifi units.
Now that you have had some time with this machine, do you prefer it over the Tormach? I am looking for an at home machine and this seems like the best NEW machine for the price and value.
I do like the syil better because you get more machine for your money. So far, my only complaint is that the service isn't as fast or as streamlined as Tormach.
Yes a usb keyboard does work. The key mapping is off though. I'm still not able to use lower case letters. Thanks for the suggestion. I now know I can use a keyboard to some capacity.
@@MrSmith1231 I've set up a fibre gigabit connection into my machine shop and I can see port 2100 on the X5 from the office machines, but I don't know what username to use in FileZilla. "anonymous" with the default password you mentioned doesn't work. I don't have the ReconFTP package, if I did, I could wireshark the handshake I guess. Is there a download for ReconFTP_maker somewhere, or will I have to ask support for a copy? The port responds correctly for vsftpd when I scan it PORT STATE SERVICE VERSION 2100/tcp open ftp vsftpd 2.0.6 MAC Address: 00:23:10:30:4F:AC (LNC Technology)

Sure beats walking the thumb drive back and fort.
will usb keyboard work if you insert it in usb port?
I'll give it a try

Filezilla may be a better software for ftp
I agree and will eventually set it up.
