Is it just my perception or things back then were kind of more wholesome and easier? It feels like it was a better time but maybe its a wrong perception. I was born in 1997 so I dont know. It feels like if the world was somehow more simple and things had more authenticity
@@YFL.111. Definitely more wholesome. More religious. You had to go looking for unnatural things. Kids were innocent. Stores were closed on Sundays and it was a very relaxed day. Young people had much more respect for their elders and their country. It was wonderful.

I always used to think actors in old movies were exaggerating. But this guy talks and acts exactly like them! I guess those movies were more realistic than I knew. I kind of wish we still had characters like this around.

Our family used to reliably watch this show. But I don't recall this one. Perhaps because I went into the Navy in 1966 and might have been in boot camp or a later Navy school. I think these were when TV was overall at its best. A lot of great entertainment without having to be mean or crude or crass.
I watched this show with my late mother back in the early 1970’s . I can still hear her laughing at the gags that I was too young to understand. But we grew up knowing to watch out, because you never know if a candid camera is rolling. Brilliant show.
Today these pranked men would be eviscerated for reacting the way they have... they would be blamed and cancel cultured for "assuming" there was anything "wrong" with a beard on a "woman". We have to act totally natural, today, when confronted with the most incredible new "truths" about gender and society. We are all living in Candid Camera today, but it ain't no joke anymore.

I so very well remember my entire family sitting in the living room and howling with laughter at Candid Camera. The premise for the skits were clever and the camera work was superb. But the show could only have been as funny as filmed with the people of New York City.
I was on that episode! I got caught on CC when an axe crashed through the wall and she ran in shouting “Fire!”shooting a fire extinguisher into the waste paper basket! I almost jumped out of my skin! She was very sweet afterward and I was thrilled when I got a postcard informing me of the date it would air on TV! A fun experience.
