What is a “balcony joist?” Recently purchased the Plus Spec design build subscription and am working hard to quickly learn the basics. I saw ‘balcony joist’ inside the plug in in SU, and here again in this video, but have never heard that term. Thanks

Hi Dal in this case a Balcony Joist is the Material name that is associated with size (you can use this to create your own materials or change the name) A balcony joist is usually a joist you would use in an external application which would usually be pressure treated. A bit of trivia, some builders make materials and name them the member (eg balcony joist 2x6, Ceiling Joist 2x4 etc) name and then member size. This enables them to create recipes for individual items and enables a more detailed estimate for the carpenter. Does this answer your question?

@@dal2888859 My Advice is to start with an easy project.
even just draw a square box with windows, doors and a roof. Use the scene tool early it makes navigation a breeze. Occasionally draw in structure view as it helps you understand what's behind the facade and how teh project goe stogther in the real world. We look forward to seeing what you do.

Who is the third-party he was using overseas to draw this? I’m looking for one

Hi Gainsy. The guy who did this was a random. What do you need done and when? Is it a new home or renovation? When do you need something done this way we can recommend an estimator or drafts person.
